Based on investigation, the suspect was allegedly involved in the ambush of PNP personnel on March 28, 2026 in Shariff Aguak, Maguindanao del Sur, which resulted in the death of five police officers and injuries to three others.

PNP ARRESTS FOREIGN NATIONAL IN PARAÑAQUE CITY FOR STATUTORY R**E CASE

The Philippine National Police (PNP) reported the successful service of a warrant of arrest against a foreign national in Parañaque City in connection with two counts of Statutory R**e, as part of its continued effort to ensure that court processes are promptly and properly enforced.

The operation was carried out in the afternoon of June 4, 2026, at the Parañaque City Hall area by personnel from the Warrant and Subpoena Section together with the Women and Children’s Protection Desk. The suspect, a 32-year-old foreign national was taken into custody and is now under the custodial facility of the Parañaque City Police Station.

The arrest stemmed from a warrant issued by the Regional Trial Court, Branch 194 in Parañaque City, covering two criminal cases with no bail recommended. Authorities confirmed that the operation was properly documented using body-worn cameras and other recording devices in line with established procedures to ensure transparency and accountability.

PNP Chief Police General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr. said the accomplishment reflects the organization’s steady commitment to lawful and disciplined operations, stressing that police work goes beyond enforcement and is anchored on the proper and compassionate delivery of justice.

“Ang trabaho ng pulisya ay hindi lang tumugon, kundi siguraduhing ang hustisya ay naipapatupad nang maayos at may malasakit. We remain firm but fair in our mandate. Lahat ng operasyon natin ay nakatali sa batas at sa pananagutan sa publiko,” he said.

He further noted that the operation supports the PNP Focused Agenda under Enhanced Managing Police Operations, which continues to strengthen coordination and responsiveness of police units nationwide. It also aligns with the directive of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. to reinforce law enforcement institutions and sustain public trust through efficient and accountable service.

The PNP assured the public that all operations will continue to be carried out with professionalism and restraint, fully observing legal procedures and respect for human rights.

As reforms continue, the organization reaffirmed its commitment under the guiding principle “Bagong PNP para sa Bagong Pilipinas: Serbisyong Mabilis, Tapat at Nararamdaman,” reflecting a police service that is more responsive, honest, and felt by the communities it serves.

CIDG NETS 8 SUSPECTS; SEIZES PHP 22.5 MILLION ALLEGED SMUGGLED CI******ES IN DAVAO DEL NORTE

In compliance with the high-level directives of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” R. Marcos Jr. through the DILG Secretary Juanito Victor “Jonvic” C. Remulla, and Chief of Philippine National Police, Police General Jose Melencio C Nartatez Jr. to intensify the government’s crackdown on smuggled ci******es, the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) intensified its law enforcement operations nationwide.

On June 4, 2026 at around 1:30 AM, the CIDG Davao del Norte Provincial Field Unit and CIDG Davao Oriental Provincial Field Unit together with Police Regional Office 11, Davao Norte Police Provincial Office and Highway Patrol Group conducted a law enforcement operation on alleged smuggled ci******es in Brgy. Lapas, Carmen, Davao del Norte that resulted in the arrest of eight suspects; and the confiscation of 900 master cases of assorted ci******es with an estimated value of PhP22,500,000.00.

Also seized during the operation are the jungkong
(motorized boat/barge), two container vans, one white Isuzu Travis Van L300 type, one white Navara Calibre X vehicle, one black Navara PRO4X pick-up, and eight units of cellular phones.

A report that reached PMGEN Robert AA Morico II, Director of CIDG, stated that the eight male arrested suspects “Eron,” “Said,” “Mali,” “Jaji,” “Win” - natives and residents of Jolo, Sulu; and “Wade,” “Mar,” and “Munir” residents of Davao City were caught aboard a jungkong (motorized boat/barge) while transporting master cases of alleged smuggled ci******es from Sulu.

The to***co products have no customs documentation and tax stamps, and the suspects failed to present documents authorizing them to possess, transport, or distribute and trade the ci******es.

The CIDG Director emphasized that pursuant to Republic Act No. 10863 (Customs Modernization and Tariff Act), the State modernizes and streamlines customs and tariff administration to enhance revenue collection, to facilitate legitimate trade, to prevent and suppress smuggling and other customs fraud, and to promote efficiency, transparency, and integrity in customs service.

The smuggling of illegal ci******es into the Philippines inflicts severe damage on the country's economy, public health systems, and national security. Smuggled ci******es are illegal, primarily because bringing them across borders bypasses mandatory customs duties and excise (sin) taxes.

The CIDG leadership commends PLTCOL Ariel T Huesca, Acting Regional Chief of CIDG Regional Field Unit 11; CIDG Davao del Norte Provincial Field Unit led by PLTCOL Rogelio B Pineda Jr.; CIDG Davao Oriental Provincial Field Unit headed by PMAJ Macdum D Enca; and the joint operating units, for the successful interception of the alleged smuggled ci******es, and the apprehension of the violators of the law. The operation underscores the CIDG’s unyielding fight against smuggling and economic sabotage nationwide.

The CIDG assures the public that the Group is steadfast in implementing all the laws, and unrelenting against all criminal networks that deal with smuggled ci******es and illegal cigarette manufacturing facilities across the country.
