The City of Mati marked a new chapter in youth governance with the successful conduct of the 2026 Seal of Good Youth Governance (SGYG) – Gabi ng Parangal on September 26, 2026, at the Sambuokan Hall, City Hall Compound.

The first-ever SGYG in the city served as a recognition platform for the dedication, initiatives, and collective efforts of young leaders, youth organizations, and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Councils in advancing meaningful youth governance in their communities.

At the heart of the celebration was the Outstanding Sangguniang Kabataan Project Award, which recognized five outstanding projects from 13 entries for their impact, relevance, innovation, and contribution to youth development, particularly in advancing the 10 Centers of Youth Participation.

The recognized projects were:

• Project SIPAG: Sustento, Inspirasyon, ug Pagtambayayong para sa mga
• Estudyante sa Pagtuon of SK Buso, headed by Hon. Angelo D. Batidor;
• Central Emergency Response Team (CERT) of SK Central, headed by Hon. Al Matthew C. Batingana;
• Project ARALPAAP: Free State Universities Aptitude and Scholastic Test (SUAST) Review of SK Tagbinonga, headed by Hon. Rocky M. Duetes;
• Establishment and Operationalization of Purok Katipunan ng Kabataan (KK) Officers of SK Don Martin Marundan, headed by Hon. Thomas III A. Sebellino; and
• Project ILM: Islamic Learning Mission of the Sangguniang Kabataan of SK Tagabakid, headed by Hon. Nhor Hashim Sabello.

The Gabi ng Parangal also highlighted the importance of recognizing the SK Council as a collective body. The Outstanding Sangguniang Kabataan Council Category acknowledged councils that demonstrated good governance, effective youth development programs, accountability, and responsiveness to the needs of young people.

Among the 26 SK Councils in the City of Mati, SK Lawigan, headed by Hon. Junas R. Acdog, and SK Sainz, headed by Hon. Davon Lipomano, received a Special Citation for Dedication to Youth Governance and Service in recognition of their continued commitment to serving the youth of their communities.

Four councils were conferred the title of 2026 Outstanding Sangguniang Kabataan Councils of the City of Mati: SK Dahican, headed by Hon. Hanna Fe B. Morales; SK Buso, headed by Hon. Angelo D. Batidor; SK Tagabakid, headed by Hon. Nhor Hashim Sabello; and SK Central, headed by Hon. Al Matthew C. Batingana.

Beyond the SK councils, the celebration also recognized the broader youth sector through the City of Mati Youth Development Council (CMYDC). Member youth organizations and youth representatives received certificates of recognition for their active participation, valuable contributions, and commitment to youth governance, collaborative initiatives, and youth development in the city. The recognition likewise honored youth representatives who have contributed to sustained youth participation, empowerment, and inclusive youth development through their service in the council.

These recognitions reflect a shared understanding that good youth governance extends beyond individual awards. It is built through the collective participation of SK councils, youth organizations, youth representatives, and other stakeholders who work together to create programs, initiatives, and governance practices responsive to the needs and aspirations of young people.

The Seal of Good Youth Governance is an initiative led by the Office of SK Federation President Hon. Thomas III A. Sebellino, in collaboration with the Local Youth Development Office, City Planning and Development Office, and the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG).

The initiative supports the MATI FOR ALL 10-Point Development Agenda, particularly the commitment to Lift All Sectors, under the People's Administration led by City Mayor Joel Mayo Z. Almario.

The Gabi ng Parangal stands not only as a celebration of those recognized but also as an affirmation of responsible leadership, meaningful participation, transparency, accountability, and sustained service to the youth.

This first Seal of Good Youth Governance marks the beginning of a continuing effort to recognize and strengthen good youth governance across the City of Mati, inspiring every youth leader, organization, and SK Council to keep building a culture of service that puts young people at the center of community development.

The City Government of Mati celebrated another milestone in youth governance with the successful conduct of the 2026 Seal of Good Youth Governance (SGYG) – Gabi ng Parangal on September 26, 2026, at Sambuokan Hall, City Hall Compound.

The first-ever SGYG in the City of Mati recognized the collective efforts of young leaders, youth organizations, and Sangguniang Kabataan Councils in promoting participatory, transparent, accountable, effective, and efficient youth governance.

One of the major highlights of the evening was the conferment of the Outstanding Sangguniang Kabataan Project Award. From 13 project entries, five were recognized for their impact, relevance, innovation, and contribution to youth development, with initiatives aligned with the 10 Centers of Youth Participation.

The 2026 Outstanding Sangguniang Kabataan Projects are:

The evening culminated with the much-awaited Outstanding Sangguniang Kabataan Council Category, which recognized the collective performance of the entire SK Council in advancing good youth governance.

Among the 26 Sangguniang Kabataan Councils of the City of Mati, SK Barangay Lawigan, headed by Hon. Junas R. Acdog, and SK Barangay Sainz, headed by Hon. Davon Lipomano, received a Special Citation for Dedication to Youth Governance and Service.

Tomorrow, we celebrate youth leadership, service, and good governance as the City of Mati holds the 2026 SEAL OF GOOD YOUTH GOVERNANCE (SGYG) – GABI NG PARANGAL at the Sambuokan Hall, City Hall Compound.

The evening will recognize our Local Youth Development Council members and Sangguniang Kabataan Chairpersons for their valuable contributions to youth development and local governance.

And at the heart of the celebration, we will finally reveal and confer the Outstanding Sangguniang Kabataan Projects and the Outstanding Sangguniang Kabataan Councils of the City of Mati, honoring the collective efforts of our young leaders who continue to turn ideas into action and public service into meaningful impact.

INTER-BARANGAY TAGISAN NG TALINO: QUIZ BOWL 2026

The stage is set for a battle of knowledge and wit! ✨

As part of the City-wide Linggo ng Kabataan 2026, young minds from 26 barangays of the City of Mati will come together for the Inter-Barangay Tagisan ng Talino: Quiz Bowl tomorrow, September 24, 2026, at 1:00 PM at the Sambuokan Hall, City Hall Compound.

Participants will put their knowledge, critical-thinking skills, teamwork, and sportsmanship to the test as they tackle questions on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), current affairs, local history and heritage, and youth governance, including the Sangguniang Kabataan Reform Law of 2015.

Which barangay will emerge as this year’s champion?

SEAL OF GOOD YOUTH GOVERNANCE 2026 | VIRTUAL ORIENTATION

The City Government of Mati, through the Sangguniang Kabataan City Federation, in partnership with the CPDO–Youth Welfare and Development Division, City Planning and Development Office, and the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), successfully conducted the Virtual Orientation for the Seal of Good Youth Governance (SGYG) on September 8, 2026.

The orientation gathered the Sangguniang Kabataan councils of the City of Mati to discuss the official guidelines, evaluation criteria, documentary requirements, and screening process for this year’s search.

The Seal of Good Youth Governance 2026 features two major categories:
🏆 Search for Outstanding Sangguniang Kabataan Council
🌟 Search for Best Sangguniang Kabataan Project

Through the SGYG, the City Government of Mati recognizes and celebrates good governance, accountability, meaningful youth participation, and innovative programs and projects of the Sangguniang Kabataan across the city.

May this initiative continue to inspire our SK councils to raise the standard of youth governance and create meaningful impact in their respective communities.

8TH DAVAO ORIENTAL SCHOOL FAIR 2026

The MAYOng Edukasyon Para Sa MAYOng Kaugmaon 8th Davao Oriental School Fair 2026 successfully brought together students, educators, career advocates, and representatives from 38 participating institutions, 27 Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) and 11 Technical-Vocational Institutions (TVIs) on September 14–15, 2026, at FGR Park and Baywalk.
