Organized by the Cabinet Office of Japan in partnership with ASEAN countries, this yearโ€™s program marked a return to the iconic Ship Program, navigating through the beautiful waters of Singapore and Thailand. After years of virtual and hybrid formats due to the global pandemic, SSEAYP 2026 reignited the spirit of face-to-face engagement, fostering friendship, mutual understanding, and cultural exchange among young leaders in the region.

During the program, Wael and fellow participants engaged in courtesy visits and homestays, participated in group discussions and peer-learning seminars, joined local programs in Japan, took part in celebrations of the 50th Year of ASEAN-Japan Friendship and Cooperation, and engaged in various activities focused on leadership, social action, and addressing global issues. The discussion themes this year included quality education, economic growth and sustainable tourism, global environment and climate change, disaster risk reduction and recovery, social welfare and inclusion, and the digital society and AI.

Waelโ€™s participation exemplifies the Philippine youthโ€™s leadership, commitment to social impact, and global mindset. His experience in SSEAYP is not only a personal milestone but also a testament to the power of youth in shaping a more connected and compassionate ASEAN-Japan community.

Letโ€™s give him a huge round of applause as he brings back the lessons, friendships, and inspirations from this incredible journey!
