BAGONG PILIPINAS BARANGAYS SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM IS HERE! 🎓

Are you a graduating student who is worried about school expenses? Good news! The Sangguniang Barangay of Barangay Daanlungsod is pleased to announce the availability of scholarship assistance under the Bagong Pilipinas Barangays Scholarship Program, initiated through the Office of the President of the Philippines, Hon. Ferdinand “Bongbong” R. Marcos Jr.

This scholarship assistance aims to help deserving students with their essential academic expenses and support them in completing their college education.

POLICY CONTENT AND GUIDELINES:

Financial assistance amounting to One Hundred Thousand Pesos (PhP 100,000.00) shall be provided to five (5) deserving and outstanding incoming graduating college students, with each student receiving Twenty Thousand Pesos (PhP 20,000.00) to help defray essential academic expenses.

CRITERIA:

1. An incoming fourth-year college student for S.Y. 2026–2027;

2. From a vulnerable household or a family belonging to the poorest of the poor;

3. At risk of dropping out;

4. From a family with no member who has completed tertiary education (prioritized);

5. A bona fide resident of Barangay Daanlungsod; and

6. A student in the fifth or sixth year may also be eligible, provided that the student is graduating in S.Y. 2026–2027.

4. Proof of Residency (Barangay Certificate of Residency)
5. Photocopy of School Identification Card (School ID)

BARANGAY DAANLUNGSOD OFFICIALS PAY COURTESY VISITS TO DIFFERENT OFFICES AT THE CAPITOL

The Barangay Officials of Barangay Daanlungsod, together with some Sangguniang Kabataan Officials and Barangay Workers, had the opportunity to pay a courtesy visit to Hon. Nelson J. Mondigo, Board Member of the Fourth District of the Province of Cebu. It was a simple yet meaningful visit that gave us the chance to connect, share stories, and talk about the needs, concerns, and aspirations of our community.

It was truly a wonderful and productive discussion. We talked about some of the current concerns of our barangay, as well as our plans and possible programs that could benefit our residents. We also exchanged ideas on how we can work together, strengthen our coordination, and seek support from the provincial government for initiatives that can make a positive difference in the lives of our people.

We are sincerely grateful to Hon. Nelson J. Mondigo and to the different offices at the Capitol, particularly the Offices of the Governor Pamela Baricuatro, Vice Governor Glenn Anthony Soco, and Board Member Kerrie Keanne Shimura, for warmly welcoming us and taking the time to listen to our concerns, ideas, and plans for Barangay Daanlungsod. We truly appreciate the openness, support, and willingness to work with us. Tungod sa mga report nga aduna pay mga nagdula ug naglangas-langas sulod sa atong Covered Court bisan ug gabiing dako o kadlawon na, ang mga opisyales sa Barangay Daanlungsod nagapahibalo sa tanang residente o sa tanang mugamit sa Daanlungsod Covered Court nga sugod karong gabhiona, kutob nalang sa alas 10:00 sa gabii ang paggamit sa atong Covered Court, gawas lamang kung adunay opisyal nga kalihokan o event nga giaprobahan sa Barangay.

Gipatuman kini aron malikayan ang pagkasamok sa kahilom sa atong komunidad, ilabina sa mga residente nga nagpuyo duol sa Covered Court ug nanginahanglan og hustong pahulay sa gabii.

Dugang pa, nagahangyo usab ang mga opisyales sa tanang mogamit sa Covered Court nga palihug pamatya ang mga suga human sa paggamit.

The Day Care Centers of Barangay Daanlungsod successfully conducted a Parents' Meeting yesterday, July 24, 2026, bringing together parents for a meaningful gathering focused on strengthening their partnership in nurturing and educating our children. The activity served as an opportunity to orient parents on the Day Care Centers' rules, policies, and programs while encouraging them to continue creating a supportive and loving environment for their children's growth and development.

One of the most meaningful parts of the meeting was the sharing of parenting experiences, where parents exchanged stories, lessons, and words of encouragement that inspired one another. Thank you to all the parents who actively participated and showed their commitment to their children's future. Together, let us continue building a strong foundation where every child can learn, grow, and thrive.

FIRST DAY OF KALAHI-CIDSS PARTICIPATORY RISK AND VULNERABILITY ASSESSMENT (PRVA)

Today, July 24, 2026, Barangay Daanlungsod successfully conducted the first day of the KALAHI-CIDSS Participatory Risk and Vulnerability Assessment (PRVA). The activity was facilitated by Mr. Divino N. Bernabe, Area Coordinator, with the assistance of Mr. Ariel Cababan, Project Development Officer II, and Ms. Daisy Alburo, Municipal Coordinating Team Community Facilitator.

During the activity, the KALAHI-CIDSS team introduced the Philippine Community Resilience Project (PCRP) with its inspiring tagline, "Mas Andam, Mas Lig-on, Mas Resilient nga Komunidad." The discussion emphasized the project's goal of strengthening communities through Participatory Resilience Planning while increasing access to resilient investments for vulnerable areas. The Barangay Resilience Team (BResT) Volunteers were also oriented on their vital roles and responsibilities—from participating in hands-on risk mapping and mobilizing focus group discussion participants to actively contributing to the community's risk and vulnerability assessment.

Putting learning into action, the BResT Volunteers, together with the KALAHI-CIDSS staff, conducted an on-site assessment across every purok in Barangay Daanlungsod. This field activity allowed the team to identify hazard-prone areas, assess existing vulnerabilities, and better understand the challenges faced by the community. Every observation and discussion served as an important step toward creating practical and sustainable solutions that will help build a safer and more resilient barangay.

Our heartfelt appreciation goes to the KALAHI-CIDSS Team, Purok Leaders, and BResT Volunteers for their dedication, teamwork, and unwavering commitment throughout the first day of the PRVA. Together, we are laying the foundation for a stronger, more prepared, and more resilient Barangay Daanlungsod—because resilient communities are built when everyone works hand in hand.

Today, July 22, 2026, Barangay Daanlungsod took another meaningful step toward building a better future through the conduct of the Barangay Development Planning for 2027-2029. More than just a planning session, it was an opportunity for our barangay officials and purok leaders to come together, reflect on the needs of our community, and work hand in hand in creating solutions that will benefit every Ka-Old Town.

The activity was facilitated by Ms. Janieva Dandan, Municipal Local Government Operations Officer (MLGOO), with the assistance of Mr. Jomar S. Inso, DILG Staff. Their guidance helped us identify our priorities, strengthen our plans, and ensure that every program and project we pursue truly responds to the needs and aspirations of our community.

Every great community begins with a clear vision and a shared purpose. Through this planning session, we are reminded that progress is not achieved overnight—it is built through collaboration, commitment, and the willingness to work together for the common good. Today's discussions laid another strong foundation for a more resilient, inclusive, and progressive Barangay Daanlungsod.

Yesterday, July 8, 2026, the KALAHI-CIDSS conducted a Barangay Assembly to help our Ka-Old Town residents better understand its mission of empowering communities, reducing poverty, and strengthening local governance. More than simply providing assistance, the program equips communities with the resources, opportunities, and decision-making power they need to identify their priorities and create lasting improvements.
