YOUTH PARTNERSHIP FOR A SAFER MNCHS | SK SUPPORTS SCHOOL SAFETY
August 15, 2026

Pormal nang nadawat sa Medina National Comprehensive High School (MNCHS) ang duha ka (2) Walkthrough Metal Detectors, usa ka proyekto nga nagtinguha sa pagpalig-on sa seguridad ug safety sa mga estudyante, faculty, staff, ug tanang stakeholders nga mosulod sa school premises.

Ang proyekto gipangulohan sa MNCHS SPTA Officers SY 2025–2026, uban sa suporta sa mga partners gikan sa Rotary Club of Metro Medina Bay, nga gipangulohan ni Mr. Benjamin Uñalan ug sa iyang mga kauban.

Isip kabahin sa atong commitment sa youth development and youth protection, ang Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) nagpasiugda sa kahinungdanon sa pagtinabangay tali sa SK, eskwelahan, mga ginikanan, private organizations, ug uban pang stakeholders aron masiguro ang usa ka safe, secure, and conducive learning environment alang sa kabatan-onan.

Ang Walkthrough Metal Detectors makatabang sa pag-monitor sa mga mosulod sa school premises ug sa pag-detect sa posibleng kontrabando, dangerous items, o uban pang butang nga mahimong makahatag og peligro sa seguridad sa mga estudyante ug school community.

Ang turnover ceremony nahitabo dungan sa SPTA Officers & Stakeholders Assembly sa MNCHS, diin mitambong usab sila Vice Mayor Paulo B. Magallanes, North Poblacion Punong Barangay Emmanuel Felix N. Pupos, Officers and Members of the Rotary Club of Metro Medina, MNCHS Faculty and Staff, mga ginikanan, ug uban pang stakeholders.

Sa SK, ang pag-atiman sa kabatan-onan dili lamang kutob sa programs and activities apil niini ang pagpanalipod sa ilang safety, welfare, ug kaugmaon.

STATEMENT OF THE NATIONAL YOUTH COMMISSION ON THE INCIDENT AT THE ATENEO DE ZAMBOANGA UNIVERSITY

The National Youth Commission expresses its deepest grief over the tragic loss of young lives and injuries sustained during the shooting incident at the Ateneo de Zamboanga University (AdZU) - Junior High School earlier today, August 18, 2026. We stand in full solidarity with the grieving families, students, educators, and the entire AdZU community.

The Commission is preparing immediate support for the affected individuals. We have opened official communication channels with the AdZU Administration to ensure seamless alignment and coordinated response efforts. In line with this, personnel from our Zamboanga Area Office and partners from the Mental Health Youth Hub are being mobilized for deployment to the campus as soon as possible. Our teams will provide peer-to-peer mental health support, trauma processing, and professional service referrals for students, families, and staff alongside AdZU’s guidance counselling team.

Schools must remain safe spaces. As we continue to advocate for stronger policy measures to enforce school safety protocols and training, and expanding mental health resources across all educational institutions, we urge Local Government Units and Sangguniang Kabataan Officials to allocate youth and local funds toward crisis preparedness and awareness programs to ensure our schools and communities are ready to respond to similar emergencies.

We appeal to the public and to our Filipino youth to refrain from sharing, reposting, or sensationalizing graphic videos, images, or unverified information, respecting the dignity of the victims and their grieving families.

Protecting our youth is a sacred and collective responsibility that belongs to us all. As we navigate this tragedy, the National Youth Commission reaffirms its commitment to being where young people need us most, ensuring that our response goes beyond words by turning our collective sorrow into meaningful action, strengthening our resolve to protect young lives, and upholding every school as a place of learning, safety, and hope.

A Milestone for Youth and Sports Development 🏆

ORDINANCE NO. 1007-2026 — APPROVED! 🎉

Usa ka dakong milestone para sa atong kabatan-onan sa Municipality of Medina! 💙

Pinaagi sa pag-apruba sa Ordinance No. 1007-2026, ang NSC Cup officially institutionalized na isip Annual Sports Program of the Sangguniang Kabataan Federation and Local Youth Development Council of Medina, Misamis Oriental.

Ang NSC Cup will be organized and hosted through the collaborative efforts of the Sangguniang Kabataan of North Poblacion, South Poblacion, and Cabug, continuing the initiative that brought our young athletes together through sports. 🏀🏐

This is more than just an ordinance it is a commitment to strengthen youth participation, promote sportsmanship, discover young talents, and create sustainable opportunities for our youth through sports.

Gikan sa usa ka simple nga initiative, karon nahimo na kini nga official annual program nga padayon nga maghatag og oportunidad sa atong mga batan-on nga makaduwa, makigkompetensya, makig-amigo, ug mas mapalambo ang ilang mga talento.

Daghang salamat sa Sangguniang Bayan of Medina for supporting this initiative and for recognizing the importance of investing in our youth. 🙏

This achievement belongs to every young Medinanon who continues to believe that sports can build character, strengthen communities, and inspire the next generation. 💪✨
