The Schools Division Office – City of San Fernando, La Union, through the Curriculum Implementation Division (CID), successfully conducted the Orientation on DepEd Order No. 35, s. 2025, titled “Guidelines on the Language Mapping Process (LMP) for Key Stage 1,” on June 6, 2026 (Saturday), at the Division Training Center.

The activity forms part of the Department of Education’s continuing efforts to operationalize the Language Mapping Process (LMP) as a systematic mechanism for identifying and classifying the primary languages spoken by learners from Kindergarten to Grade 3. It aimed to equip teachers with a deeper understanding of the LMP guidelines and the proper administration of the Language Identification Tool (LIT), ensuring accurate language profiling of learners and supporting the effective implementation of the Comprehensive Rapid Literacy Assessment (CRLA).

The orientation gathered all Kindergarten to Grade 3 teachers across the division, who actively participated in the discussions and workshops designed to strengthen their capacity in carrying out the language mapping process. Through this initiative, the Department reinforces its commitment to promoting inclusive, responsive, and evidence-based literacy programs that recognize and address the linguistic diversity of learners.

The Schools Division Office of the City of San Fernando (LU) joined fellow Fernando and Fernandas in celebrating the 128th Philippine Independence Day on June 12, 2026, at the City Hall Grounds.

Around 90 DepEd personnel and school heads from across the division participated in the celebration, led by OIC-Schools Division Superintendent Nestor C. Heraña. Their presence reflected the division’s solidarity with the community in honoring this important national occasion.

The celebration began with a solemn flag-raising ceremony followed by a short program that paid tribute to the bravery and sacrifices of the Filipino heroes who fought for the nation’s freedom.

As we commemorate our country’s independence, SDO City of San Fernando (LU) remains committed to nurturing patriotism, civic responsibility, and love of country among learners and educators alike.

𝗦𝗗𝗢 𝗥𝗲𝗰𝗲𝗶𝘃𝗲𝘀 𝗕𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗮𝗱𝗮 𝗘𝘀𝗸𝘄𝗲𝗹𝗮 𝗔𝘀𝘀𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗣𝗣𝗦𝗧𝗔

The Schools Division Office of the City of San Fernando (LU) received Brigada Eskwela assistance from the Philippine Public School Teachers Association (PPSTA) on June 11, 2026.

Dr. Danilo Sison of PPSTA personally handed over a total of ₱10,000 cash assistance to two beneficiary schools, with ₱5,000 each allotted to Bungro Elementary School and Sacyud Elementary School. The assistance was received by Mr. Jay Ar Salivad, School Head of Bungro ES, and Ms. Rodalia Pumares, School Head of Sacyud ES.

The Youth, Education, and Sports Development Office (YESDO) of the City Government of San Fernando, La Union paid a courtesy visit to newly installed OIC-Schools Division Superintendent Nestor C. Heraña on June 11, 2026, to discuss ongoing and future projects, programs, and activities that will benefit learners, youth, and the education sector.

The City YESDO delegation was headed by Atty. Allan Hil B. Pajimola, who shared the office’s initiatives and priorities in promoting youth empowerment, educational development, and sports excellence within the city.

Joining Atty. Pajimola were Mr. Marc Erwin D. Munar, Local Youth Development Officer I of the City YESDO; Ms. Valerie Ann S. Valdez, Executive Assistant II of the Office of the City Mayor (OCM); Ms. Shandie Mae C. Caluza, Project Development Officer I of the OCM; Mr. Gari Victor C. Lacuata, Administrative Officer I of the OCM; and Ms. Joselle Jea P. Armas, Development Management Officer II of the Office for Strategy Management.

During the meeting, both offices explored opportunities for stronger collaboration and partnership, particularly in implementing programs that support learner welfare, leadership development, academic achievement, and community engagement. Discussions also centered on how the City Government can further assist the Schools Division Office through its various education-related initiatives, as well as how the SDO can complement and support the city’s programs and services for the youth and education sector.

The meeting reaffirmed the shared commitment of the City Government and the Schools Division Office to work hand in hand in advancing quality education, empowering the youth, and creating more meaningful opportunities for Fernando and Fernanda learners.

𝗦𝗗𝗢 𝗛𝗼𝗹𝗱𝘀 𝗙𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝗛𝗼𝗹𝘆 𝗠𝗮𝘀𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗝𝘂𝗻𝗲, 𝗕𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗲𝘀 𝗦𝗗𝗦 𝗢𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗲

The Schools Division Office of the City of San Fernando (LU) held its first Holy Mass for the month of June today, June 11, 2026, at the Division Training Center. The celebration brought together Division Office personnel in prayer, reflection, and thanksgiving.

The Holy Mass was officiated by Fr. Dexter Rivera and was sponsored by the Curriculum Implementation Division (CID) - Alternative Learning System (ALS) and Learning Resource Management Section (LRMS).

The homily centered on the importance of guarding our hearts against anger and choosing understanding, forgiveness, and peace. Everyone was reminded to not let anger poison their hearts.

Following the Eucharistic celebration, Fr. Rivera led the blessing of the Office of the Schools Division Superintendent (SDS), invoking God's guidance and protection upon the office and its occupants as they continue to serve the education community.

The meaningful gathering concluded with a simple fellowship and sharing of meals among Division Office personnel, fostering camaraderie and strengthening bonds among colleagues in a spirit of gratitude and unity.

LOOK | The Schools Division Office of the City of San Fernando (LU) conducted a Meeting on the Implementation of the School-Based Feeding Program (SBFP) FY 2026 on June 9, 2026 at the Division Training Center.

The activity began with the Opening Message of SGOD Chief Dr. Edgardo P. Cosares, who underscored the importance of collaboration and commitment in ensuring the successful implementation of the SBFP.

Following the opening message, OIC-Schools Division Superintendent Dr. Nestor C. Heraña shared his message to the participants, emphasizing the significance of proper program implementation, adherence to guidelines, and the collective responsibility of schools in promoting the health, nutrition, and well-being of learners.

Meanwhile, Mr. Jerome Paul Martinez, Technical Assistant I, and Mr. Nemhel D. Escobar, Nurse II, discussed the implementation guidelines of the School-Based Feeding Program (SBFP) for School Year 2026–2027, including school-level arrangements, prescribed SBFP forms, reporting requirements, and other matters relevant to the effective implementation of the program.

The activity served as a venue to align policies, clarify procedures, and strengthen the collective efforts of schools in delivering quality nutrition interventions for learners.

As part of strengthening partnerships and collaboration with key stakeholders, Officer-in-Charge Schools Division Superintendent Dr. Nestor C. Heraña paid a courtesy visit to La Union Governor Hon. Mario Eduardo C. Ortega on June 9, 2026.

During the visit, Dr. Heraña formally introduced himself as the new OIC-Schools Division Superintendent and conveyed his appreciation to Governor Ortega for his steadfast support to schools and the education sector. He likewise expressed his commitment to working closely with local partners and stakeholders to further improve educational programs and learner outcomes in the division.

The courtesy visit highlights the shared commitment of SDO - City of San Fernando (LU) and the Provincial Government of La Union to fostering strong partnerships in support of accessible, inclusive, and quality education for all learners.
