The Department of Trade and Industry La Union Provincial Office officially launched Laing La Union 2026 on September 1, 2026, at SM City La Union, marking the start of the provinceโs Creative Month Celebration under the Philippine Creative Industries Development Act.
The vibrant opening gathered government officials, partner institutions, and creative stakeholders, showcasing La Unionโs artistic identity and cultural excellence. The program began with preliminaries and welcome remarks from SM City La Union Assistant Mall Manager, Ms. Dina T. Bosaing, followed by messages of support from DTI officials and local leaders, including Dir. Victoria A. Ordoรฑo, Acting Provincial Director of DTI La Union; Dir. Merlie D. Membrere, Regional Director of DTI Region 1; Hon. Hermenegildo A. Gualberto, City Mayor of San Fernando represented by Ms. Rizalina Medrano of LEBDO; Hon. Maria Rosario Eufrosina โCharyโ P. Nisce, Board Member; and Hon. Mario Eduardo C. Ortega, Provincial Governor of La Union. The event was also attended by Mr. Gerard G. Ostrea and Hon. Aaron Kyle M. Pinzon, First District Board Members for the Provincial Government of La Union.
A lively performance by Salig Acoustic energized the audience before the ceremonial unveiling of the official Laing La Union logo and awarding of the logo contest winner, Mr. Nick Jayson B. De Castro, whose design reflected La Unionโs creativity, culture, heritage, colors, and identity. Ms. Angelica Maranon-Maglanoc delivered a heartfelt message of appreciation, underscoring the importance of collaboration among creatives, institutions, and local enterprises, and highlighting the shared vision of empowering creative MSMEs and fostering sustainable creative industries in the province.
The successful opening set the tone for the month-long celebration featuring exhibits, film screenings, and masterclass trainings, demonstrating DTI La Unionโs commitment to advancing the creative economy, strengthening local talent, and positioning La Union as a dynamic center for creativity and cultural excellence.
