League of Filipino Students - UP Visayas

League of Filipino Students - UP Visayas The UP Visayas chapter of the leading anti-imperialist and national liberation movement of the Filipino youth. Fighting US Imperialism since 1977!

The League of Filipino Students is a national democratic mass organization that is dedicated in forging the broadest anti-imperialist unity among the Filipino youth. The League consistently struggles with the Filipino people for national democracy as part of the anti-imperialist struggle worldwide. We recognize that Imperialism gravely violates the sovereignty of nations across the globe and subju

gates the world under the global capitalist crisis through neoliberal globalization and rampant military intervention. The League initiates campaigns and activities that aim to unify the Filipino people in the struggle for national liberation and democracy. We hold educational discussions, study groups, academic fora and various other activities that raise our social and political consciousness in the desire to serve the Filipino people. We strive for the development of a nationalist, scientific, and mass-oriented culture which is integral in the overall struggle against Imperialism. It is of utmost significance that we learn directly from the basic masses, the Filipino workers and peasants, in recognition that the Filipino people must unite for the triumph of national liberation. We take part in mass campaigns and protest actions that live up to the militant tradition of the Filipino youth’s historic role in effecting genuine social change. The chronic crisis of Philippine society highlights the need for the intensification of an anti-imperialist and national democratic mass movement. Our nation’s neocolonial relationship with U.S. Imperialism has long impeded national progress yet continues to serve the interests of the ruling elite and their foreign counterparts at the expense of the Filipino people. The feudal base of the Philippine economy has plunged our nation into greater depths of poverty and oppression hindering the growth of national industries while providing profit and resources for foreign corporations. Our government is but a lackey to Imperialist interests, corrupt and profit-driven, while employing fascism to silence dissent. It is in the face of these challenges that the League of Filipino Students calls on all Iskolar ng Bayan and the youth to join in the people’s struggle against Imperialism towards the realization of genuine liberation and national democracy. The triumph of the people’s democratic revolution rests on the Filipino youth’s ability to rise above our generation’s challenges. In the words of Jose Maria Sison: “Only through militant struggle can the best in youth shall emerge.”

OFFICIAL STATEMENT OF THE 46TH UPV USC ON THE RED-TAGGING INCIDENT DURING THE RECENT UPV ROTC GRADUATION CEREMONY IN JAMINDAN, CAPIZ

In the recently concluded graduation ceremony of the Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC) held at the 3rd Infantry Division at Jamindan, Capiz, students reported that the program included red-tagging of students and baseless accusations of recruitment by legal progressive formations and organizations. These organizations have long been instrumental in arousing awareness among youth, students, workers, and peasants on societal issues towards mobilizing them for societal change. It has long been asserted that red-tagging threatens their constitutional right to security, life, and safety. Through these tactics, the ROTC is utilized as a propaganda scheme of the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC) to instill fear and doubts in students, rather than provide them with critical perspectives on the state and invoke genuine nationalism.

This is only one of their many tactics to dull the critical thinking skills of scholars. As seen in their long history of violence and oppression, they do not hesitate to file sedition cases to student activists and may even resort to indiscriminate massacres of civilians and people. Occurring only 20 days after the death of UP Diliman Education and Research Councilor Alyssa Alano and the injustice of the Toboso 19 massacre, the military has yet again shown their true colors of serving the interests of the corrupt state, rather than serving the people. We reiterate that genuine service to the people is not by firing bullets at them and intimidation but rather learning their realities through immersion and integration with the basic masses.

The 46th UP Visayas University Student Council strongly condemns the manipulative means of the 3rd Infantry Division to undermine the genuine calls of mass organizations and deceive students into believing otherwise. Such acts only serve the interests of hacienderos and big-time CEOs of corporations that hoard the land and fail to address the roots of armed struggles. We denounce all acts of red-tagging and terror grooming of the state to students, as it only perpetuates the system of oppression, landlessness, and hunger that the basic masses face. Instances such as the recent graduation ceremony strengthen the reasons why the military is not welcome on our campuses. We once again raise the call to end all deals and partnerships with the military and deinstitutionalize their involvement with the University of the Philippines, the national state university that is mandated to serve the people.

The 46th UPV USC is calling on the UPV Administration for their swift response to the red-tagging incidents of last Saturday. The incident is yet again another reminder on the importance and necessity of the Committee on Academic Freedom and Human Rights (CAFHR) to convene at the soonest possible time. The university's decisive will to end collaborations with the military is now urgent more than ever if they truly wish to condemn all acts of red-tagging and military intimidation.

The League of Filipino Students - Panay strongly demands justice and accountability from the systemic neglect, plunder, and violence orchestrated against the Filipino people. The blood of the nation is on the hands of Vice President Sara Duterte and Senator Bato Dela Rosa- clearer and bloodier than ever, their crimes must not slip away from justice, nor our demands should remain unanswered. We demand to be given the dignity, for these bureaucrat capitalists to face us directly bearing the full weight of the injustice and damage inflicted upon us.

As such, we bolster the calls, the impeachment of VP Sara Duterte, and the arrest of Sen. Bato Dela Rosa, so he may be turned over to the International Criminal Court (ICC).

The Dutertes have consistently parroted their narratives, brushing off calls for accountability and labelling them as mere "political noise." Despite obvious evidence presented before us, VP Sara Duterte remains as a perverse perpetrator, adamant in blatant refusal to answer for her questionable decisions and disdain for public accountability. We demand for VP Sara Duterte to take responsibility under her reckless leadership. We call on for the impeachment of VP Sara Duterte.

We also demand for the arrest of Sen. Bato Dela Rosa, as a key actor during the war on drugs, EJKs, and the crimes against humanity. He must face the full weight of his inhumanity to the victims and families and robbed of dignity and justice.

We, the League of Filipino Students - Panay call on the studentry, community members, and the Filipinos across the country to bolster these demands. We must remain vigilant and carry forward the struggle against corruption and the abuse of public trust. Our outrage must turn into action. Let us unite in demanding an end to corruption!

Impeach Sara Duterte!
Jail Bato Dela Rosa!
Let accountability prevail!

LOOK GUYS OH! | Bilang bahagi ng paghahanda para sa paggunita ng Mayo Uno, nagsagawa ng educational discussion ang LFS-UPV na pinamagatang, "𝓦𝓱𝔂 𝓓𝓸 𝓣𝓱𝓮𝔂 𝓦𝓸𝓻𝓴 𝓦𝓸𝓻𝓴 𝓦𝓸𝓻𝓴?: 𝘈𝘯 𝘌𝘥𝘶𝘤𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘢𝘭 𝘋𝘪𝘴𝘤𝘶𝘴𝘴𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘰𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘗𝘳𝘰𝘭𝘦𝘵𝘢𝘳𝘪𝘢𝘵 𝘔𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘚𝘶𝘨𝘢𝘳 𝘞𝘰𝘳𝘬𝘦𝘳𝘴 𝘪𝘯 𝘕𝘦𝘨𝘳𝘰𝘴", noong ika-29 ng Abril 2026 upang talakayin ang kalagayan ng mga maralitang lungsod at manggagawa sa industriya ng asukal.

Pinangunahan nina G. Gabriel John Gagno at Bb.
