The Turnover and Blessing Ceremony of the Barangay Ecuan Health Center was successfully held on May 30, 2026, marking another milestone in strengthening primary healthcare services in the Municipality of Midsalip.

The event was attended by Hon. Elmer M. Soronio, Municipal Mayor of Midsalip, Hon. Eddie Almarel, Chairperson of the Sangguniang Bayan Committee on Health, and the Department of Health (DOH) Provincial Health Team, led by Dr. Agnes E. Fernando, Provincial Health Team Leader, together with Mr. Joey Quipot, RN, DMO IV of Midsalip and Dr. Charmaine Jewel B. Crisostomo, the Municipal Health Officer.

This newly turned-over health facility reflects the shared commitment of the Local Government Unit of Midsalip, the Department of Health, and health partners in ensuring that quality, accessible, and responsive healthcare services are brought closer to every family in Barangay Ecuan.

The blessing and turnover of the health center signify not only the completion of a facility but also the continued dedication to improving community health, promoting disease prevention, and enhancing the overall well-being of the residents.

Cooking Demonstration Session & Distribution of Cooking Equipment for the Enhancement of Community Kitchens πŸ²πŸ‘©β€πŸ³

Today, the Rural Health Unit of Midsalip together with the Barangay Nutrition Scholars successfully conducted the Cooking Demonstration Session and Distribution of Cooking Equipment at the GAD Building, Midsalip, Zamboanga del Sur.

The activity focused on strengthening community-based nutrition interventions by promoting proper complementary feeding for children aged 6–23 months and encouraging the preparation of nutritious meals using locally available ingredients. The distributed cooking equipment will further support and enhance community kitchen initiatives and feeding activities in the barangays.

We would like to extend our sincere gratitude to Philippine Multisectoral Nutrition Project and HEPO Mr. Ronel A. Nasol, RN for sharing your valuable insights, expertise, and encouragement during the activity. Your support greatly inspired our nutrition workers and community partners in advancing better nutrition and health services for every child and family in the community. πŸ’š

FHSIS Monitoring and Mentoring

The RHU Midsalip proudly participated in the FHSIS Monitoring and Mentoring activity conducted by PDOHO Zamboanga del Sur held on May 26, 2025 at the GAD Building.

This activity aimed to strengthen the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of health data reporting under the Field Health Services Information System (FHSIS), ensuring better health program planning and implementation at the local level.

Participants from RHU Midsalip actively engaged in discussions, technical guidance, and mentoring sessions provided by the PDOHO team, reinforcing commitment to quality health information management and improved service delivery for the community.

We extend our appreciation to PDOHO Zamboanga del Sur for the continuous support and technical assistance, and to all participants for their dedication and active involvement.

Successful Medical Outreach in Barangay Pawan | May 25, 2026

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the officials and residents of Barangay Pawan for the warm welcome and strong support extended to the RHU Midsalip team during our Medical Outreach held last May 25, 2026.

Your cooperation and active participation were instrumental in the success of this activity. Through your support, we were able to deliver a wide range of essential health services to the community, reaching individuals and families who needed care and assistance.

The services provided during the outreach included Operation Tuli, Cervical Screening, Implant Insertion and Removal, Prenatal Check-ups, Immunization, Lactation Management Training, Medical Consultation, Dental Fluoride Application, and distribution of Free Medicines. These services aim to promote preventive care, maternal and child health, and overall community well-being.

We also sincerely thank the Local Government Unit of Midsalip, headed by Hon. Elmer M. Soronio, for the continuous support in strengthening health programs and making healthcare services more accessible to the people.

Our deepest appreciation is also extended to the 53rd Infantry Battalion and the Midsalip Municipal Police Station (PNP) personnel for ensuring the safety and security throughout the activity, which contributed greatly to its smooth and orderly conduct.

We also recognize the valuable support of the Philippine Multisectoral Nutrition Project (PMNP) for their contribution in strengthening integrated health and nutrition services during the outreach.
