Classes in all levels across the province of Cebu will resume immediately after improved weather conditions following the threat of Typhoon Basyang, Governor Pamela S. Baricuatro said in an executive order issued Sunday, Feb. 8, 2026.

Executive Order No. 9, Series of 2026, directs public and private schools to recommence classes after an earlier suspension imposed on Feb. 5 under Executive Order No. 8 due to anticipated adverse weather linked to the typhoon.

The governor said recent weather bulletins and situation reports indicate conditions have improved and that there are no imminent threats warranting the continued suspension of classes.

The order allows schools to reopen while requiring school authorities and their respective local government units to assess localized conditions to ensure the safety of students and personnel.

Governor Baricuatro cited the need to restore normal school operations to ensure the continuity of learning while maintaining vigilance against possible residual or localized weather disturbances.

The directive is in line with the Local Government Code of 1991, which mandates local governments to safeguard public welfare, including education, as well as Department of Education Order No. 022, Series of 2024, which outlines guidelines for resuming classes after disaster-related suspensions. / π‘ͺ𝑨𝑷𝑰𝑻𝑢𝑳 𝑷𝑰𝑢
