The Department of Environment and Natural Resources Region X (DENR X) successfully hosted a two-day โFortiGate Fast Track Outline and Software-Defined Wide Area Network (SD-WAN) Training Programโ for its Information Technology (IT) specialists and staff, conducted in collaboration with the DENR Knowledge and Information Systems Service (KISS) and third-party IT solutions provider InfoBahn Communications, Inc., reinforcing its commitment to digital transformation and technology-driven public service.
The activity opened with a message from DENR X Assistant Regional Director for Management Services, Ma. Theresa J. Allen, on behalf of Regional Executive Director Henry A. Adornado, PhD, highlighted the importance of SD-WAN in modernizing government operations and emphasized that the training supports DENR Region Xโs push for digitalization and more efficient, responsive services. She also recognized the competence and potential of the regionโs IT specialists in driving innovation and strengthening information systems.
Information Systems Analyst II Jovan L. Lucino of the Network Infrastructure Management Division, DENR Central Office, presented the training rationale, stressing the need to enhance personnel skills in network management and security.
Technical sessions, led by Product Solutions Engineer Marvileen Gordo of InfoBahn Communications, Inc., covered SD-WAN fundamentals, FortiGate features, configuration, security, monitoring, and VPN setup, along with hands-on exercises.
The second day featured onsite training at CENR Initao, providing practical experience in SD-WAN implementation.
Through this initiative, DENR Region X continues to enhance its digital capabilities toward a more secure, efficient, and resilient network infrastructure.
