STRENGTHENING ARTILLERY READINESS: 5FAB CONCLUDES JOINT FIELD ARTILLERY ORIENTATION TRAINING FOR FA READY RESERVE UNITS
TANAY, RIZAL β In line with the Artillery Regimentβs thrust to build a highly capable and mission-ready Reserve Force, the 5th Field Artillery Battalion (5FAB) successfully facilitated the Joint Closing Ceremony of the Field Artillery Orientation Training (FAOT) of the 1st Rizal Ready Reserve Field Artillery Battery (1st RRRFABtry) and the 1st Nueva Ecija Ready Reserve Field Artillery Battery (1st NERRFABtry) held on, 18 January 2026, at 5FAB Masinag Hall.
The Field Artillery Orientation Training was conducted through a combination of Video Teleconferencing (VTC) and Face-to-Face (F2F) training activities from 13 December 2025 to 18 January 2026. Designed to strengthen the operational foundation of artillery reservists, the training focused on familiarizing participants with field artillery organization, roles, and basic gunnery concepts in support of the Philippine Armyβs goal of developing a world-class, multi-mission ready, and cross-domain capable force.
A total of eighty-four (84) enlisted personnel successfully completed the training, composed of forty-four (44) personnel from the 1st NERRFABtry and forty (40) personnel from the 1st RRRFABtry. Their consistent participation throughout the training period reflected their dedication to professional development and readiness to augment active-duty artillery units when called upon.
The closing ceremony was graced by Colonel Archie A. Ares GSC (Art) PA, Chief of Staff, Artillery Regiment, Philippine Army, who served as the Guest of Honor and Speaker (GOHAS). The program included the pinning of the King of Battle Tab and the awarding of certificates to the graduating reservists, marking their formal induction into the Artillery community and signifying the Artillery Regimentβs trust and confidence in their competence, professionalism, and readiness to assume the responsibilities inherent to the profession of arms. In his message, COL Ares underscored the critical role of artillery reservists in national defense and emphasized the importance of discipline, technical competence, and continuous training in ensuring operational effectiveness and force integration.
The activity concluded with a reaffirmation of commitment from both reserve units to uphold the values of Honor, Patriotism, and Duty, further strengthening the Artillery Regimentβs reserve integration efforts and overall operational readiness.
