Mas pinalakas na industriya ng kalabaw, tatalakayin sa 12th NCC sa Sorsogon

Muling magtitipon ang mga pangunahing stakeholders ng industriya ng kalabaw sa ika-12 National Carabao Conference (NCC) na gaganapin sa Mayo 20–22, 2026 sa Sorsogon City, ang tinaguriang “Gateway to Southern Luzon.”

Pangungunahan ang nasabing kumperensya ng Gubat St. Anthony Cooperative (GSAC), katuwang ang National Carabao Industry Stakeholders Association (NCISA) at ang DA-Philippine Carabao Center (DA-PCC). Mga kakalabawan, ating balikan ang masasayang kaganapan sa nagdaang pagdiriwang ng 11th National Carabao Conference na may temang "Matatag na Industriya ng Pagkakalabawan at Gatas: Maunlad na Ekonomiya ng Pilipinas", na ginanap sa University of Southern Mindanao (USM), Kabacan, Cotabato noong Septyembre 17-18, 2025.

Narito ang ilang benepisyo ng paggamit ng biogas para sa ating mga magsasaka:

✅ Libreng Enerhiya: Ginagawang gas ang dumi ng kalabaw para magamit sa pagluluto at kuryente.

Tuloy-tuloy ang pagdaloy ng kaalaman sa National Carabao Conference.

Sa ikalawang araw ng 11th National Carabao Conference, tampok ang mga makabagong teknolohiya sa Cara-Aralan Farmers Field Day na ginanap sa DA-PCC sa University of Southern Mindanao.

Ipinamalas ng Sta. Catalina Multipurpose Cooperative ang paggawa ng masarap at kakaibang black rice ice cream na kinagiliwan ng mga kalahok sa aktibidad.

Ang inobasyon at husay na ito ay nagpapakita ng malaking potensyal ng industriya ng pagkakakalabawan.

| A trip in Mindanao is not complete without fully experiencing the fruit basket of the Philippines. This experience capped off the two-day 11th National Carabao Conference (NCC).

DA-PCC at University of Southern Mindanao (DA-PCC at USM) Center Director Dr. Geoffray Atok said he wanted the NCC participants to have a glimpse and a “taste” of what a fruit feast in Mindanao is like. He said this is a core moment in this year’s NCC.

A buffet of 800 kilograms of assorted fruits was generously laid out on a 150-foot table.

The 11th NCC was organized by the National Carabao Stakeholders Association in partnership with DA-PCC at USM, USM, and Sta. Catalina Multipurpose Cooperative.

Moreover, the next NCC will be held in Sorsogon and will be hosted by Gubat St. Anthony Multipurpose Cooperative and DA-PCC at University of the Philippines Los Baños.

| COTABATO ➡️ SORSOGON

The next National Carabao Conference will be held in Sorsogon, to be hosted by Gubat St. Anthony Multipurpose Cooperative (GSAC) and the DA-Philippine Carabao Center at UP Los Baños.

Established in 1964, GSAC is the largest multipurpose cooperative in the Bicol Region, serving over 71,000 members through 18 branches.

According to GSAC's annual report, the Triple 2 Agri-Industrial Corporation, the co-op's branch for agri-services, generated a total sales of Php12,458,886 of sterilized milk deliveries and Php36,713,705.00 of pasteurized milk deliveries in 2024.

GSAC served SDOs in Sorsogon Province, Sorsogon City, Tabaco City, Ligao City, Albay Province, Legazpi City, and DSWD, supporting the implementation of Republic Act 11037, which promotes a National Feeding Program to combat child malnutrition.

During the 2nd NCISA General Assembly, matters such as refining the NCISA structure, membership qualifications and dues, and proposed amendments to the Articles of Incorporation.

An election for the association’s supposed new officers was included in the agenda; however, upon motion duly moved and seconded, it was agreed that the current set of officers be retained.

| The DA-PCC technologies take center stage on the second day of the 11th National Carabao Conference through the learning platform Cara-Aralan Farmers Field Day (FFD) held at the DA-PCC at USM.

Four techno-demo sessions were participated by some 230 carapreneurs from 55 cooperatives nationwide.

The first cluster was on black rice ice cream making demonstration by the Sta. Catalina Multipurpose Cooperative led by Rejalyn Alabado-Puyos, Yoyo’s Aqua Farm staff.

The use of biogas for soil health and waste management was discussed in the second cluster by DA-PCC at USM veterinarian Dr. Virgilio V. Lopez and Vic Lawrence P. Oliva.

In the third cluster, a cooking demo on carabao papaitan was led by Rosile B. Diaz.

The last cluster, which highlighted a discussion on vermicompostIng, was led by DA-PCC at USM staff Rheo Ryan P. Balbuena and James Reamon.
