NEWS | BS Met Students & Faculty Elevate Ph Climate Science at Nat’l Convention

Students and faculty members from the Central Luzon State University (CLSU) BS Meteorology delivered strong scientific contributions during the 2026 Convention of the Philippine Meteorological Society (PMS), reinforcing the university’s growing role in advancing weather and climate research in the country held on March 24–25, 2026 at Luxent Hotel, Quezon City.

The convention brought together meteorologists, researchers, and academic institutions from across the country to present studies and exchange ideas that support disaster preparedness and climate resilience.

Representing CLSU were Peter Ryuken B. Hermosura, Alen Iverson S. Lucio, and Jeremy Degamon, Henessy Quibrantos, Karren Kay C. Banicod, Aira Neiza S. Mallare, Cyrill Abegail S. Flores, and Gian King Carlo D. Curampes who actively participated in the convention’s scientific sessions through poster and oral presentations.

During the event, selected student presentations were recognized in the Student Category, where Hermosura received 1st Place Best Poster Presenter, and Lucio earned 3rd Place in the Oral Presentation. These recognitions reflect the quality of the department’s research training and the strength of mentorship under their adviser, Asst. Prof. Henrison C. Sanchez, who also serves as a member of the Board of Trustees of the PMS.

Faculty participation further strengthened CLSU’s presence in the convention with Engr. Juderick P. Poblete who also presented his research, contributed to discussions on the application of weather and climate information in agriculture and decision-making.

With this, the university continues to advance meteorological science in ways that support a more resilient and climate-informed Philippines.

🌿✨ Seminar-Workshop Successfully Conducted! ✨🌿

The Department of Environmental Science and Meteorology – College of Science, CLSU successfully conducted the seminar-workshop titled “Environmental Monitoring in Action: Air Quality and Noise Assessment” last February 24, 2026 at the RIE Amphitheater.

The activity was actively attended by 3rd and 4th year BS Environmental Science (BSES) and BS Meteorology (BS MET) students, who gained valuable insights into practical approaches in air quality monitoring and noise assessment.

We were honored to have Engr. Reynaldo S. Tejada, President/CEO of OneSystech Services, Inc., as our distinguished resource speaker. His expertise and real-world applications in environmental monitoring significantly enriched the academic experience of our students.

This seminar-workshop strengthened participants’ technical knowledge and reinforced the importance of accurate environmental data in promoting sustainable environmental management.

The department extends its sincere appreciation to Engr. Tejada and to all students and organizers who contributed to the success of this meaningful academic activity.

𝐂𝐋𝐒𝐔 𝐄𝐧𝐯𝐢𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐒𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐌𝐞𝐭𝐞𝐨𝐫𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐲 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐦𝐬 𝐒𝐮𝐜𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐟𝐮𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐏𝐚𝐬𝐬 𝐀𝐀𝐂𝐂𝐔𝐏 𝐀𝐜𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧

Three programs under the Department of Environmental Science and Meteorology of Central Luzon State University (CLSU) have successfully passed accreditation by the Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines, Inc. (AACCUP). These programs include the Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science (Level II Re-Accredited status), Doctor of Philosophy in Environmental Management (Level II Re-Accredited status), and Bachelor of Science in Meteorology (Candidate Status).

The accreditation survey visit, conducted virtually from September 1 to 5, 2025, evaluated the programs across key areas, including the university’s vision, mission, goals, and objectives; faculty qualifications; curriculum and instruction; student support services; research; extension and community involvement; physical facilities; laboratories; library services; and administration.

In terms of overall performance, the BS Environmental Science program obtained a grand mean rating of 3.95, while the PhD in Environmental Management recorded a grand mean of 4.40, and the BS Meteorology program earned a grand mean of 4.37, reflecting strong compliance with accreditation standards.

This achievement highlights CLSU’s continued commitment to academic excellence and its dedication to delivering quality education and research in environmental science, environmental management, and meteorology, preparing graduates to address environmental challenges, contribute to climate and weather-related research, and support sustainable development initiatives locally and globally.
