NEWS | BS Met Students & Faculty Elevate Ph Climate Science at Nat’l Convention
Students and faculty members from the Central Luzon State University (CLSU) BS Meteorology delivered strong scientific contributions during the 2026 Convention of the Philippine Meteorological Society (PMS), reinforcing the university’s growing role in advancing weather and climate research in the country held on March 24–25, 2026 at Luxent Hotel, Quezon City.
The convention brought together meteorologists, researchers, and academic institutions from across the country to present studies and exchange ideas that support disaster preparedness and climate resilience.
Representing CLSU were Peter Ryuken B. Hermosura, Alen Iverson S. Lucio, and Jeremy Degamon, Henessy Quibrantos, Karren Kay C. Banicod, Aira Neiza S. Mallare, Cyrill Abegail S. Flores, and Gian King Carlo D. Curampes who actively participated in the convention’s scientific sessions through poster and oral presentations.
During the event, selected student presentations were recognized in the Student Category, where Hermosura received 1st Place Best Poster Presenter, and Lucio earned 3rd Place in the Oral Presentation. These recognitions reflect the quality of the department’s research training and the strength of mentorship under their adviser, Asst. Prof. Henrison C. Sanchez, who also serves as a member of the Board of Trustees of the PMS.
Faculty participation further strengthened CLSU’s presence in the convention with Engr. Juderick P. Poblete who also presented his research, contributed to discussions on the application of weather and climate information in agriculture and decision-making.
With this, the university continues to advance meteorological science in ways that support a more resilient and climate-informed Philippines.
