Peace and reconciliation took center stage on April 28, 2026, as a "rido" between the ๐ซ๐๐๐๐๐๐-๐๐๐๐๐ ๐ญ๐๐๐๐๐ and the ๐ฉ๐๐๐-๐ท๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐ญ๐๐๐๐๐ was successfully and peacefully resolved at the Municipal Function Hall in Tambo, Munai, Lanao del Norte.
The conflict, which originated from a vehicular accident on December 23, 2025, along the national highway in Pantar, Lanao del Norte, had raised tensions between the two families. However, through the firm and compassionate leadership of the Local Government Unit of Munai, a peaceful settlement was achievedโhighlighting the power of dialogue, unity, and community cooperation.
At the forefront of this effort was ๐ฏ๐๐. ๐ด๐๐๐๐ ๐น๐๐๐๐ ๐ซ. ๐จ๐๐
๐๐๐๐๐, whose commitment to peacebuilding and conflict resolution played a crucial role in bringing both parties together. Guided by her belief that Munaiโs deep-rooted family ties bind its people as one, she emphasized that conflicts must always find resolution through understanding and shared respect.
Supporting this initiative were key stakeholders, including COL Robert F. Betita, PA, Brigade Executive Officer of the 2nd Mechanized Infantry Brigade, Armor Division; CPT Jamel O. Tawantawan (QMS) PA, Civil-Military Operations Officer representing the 44th Infantry Battalion; Hon. Ikie Balabagan, ABC President; and PCPT Pandapatan P. Tataan, Chief of Police of Munai MPS. Also present were members of the Sangguniang Bayan, councilors, and barangay captains, whose presence reinforced the collective commitment of local leaders to uphold peace and order in the municipality.
The active involvement of councilors and barangay officials underscored the strength of grassroots governance in Munaiโdemonstrating how collaboration between local leaders and security sectors can effectively address disputes and restore harmony within the community.
This successful mediation reflects the LGUโs unwavering dedication to fostering a culture of peace. More than just resolving a conflict, it reaffirmed Munaiโs identity as a community grounded in shared history, kinship, and mutual respect.
Indeed, through unity and strong leadership, Munai continues to prove that even the deepest conflicts can be resolved when a community stands together as one.
