NARRA, PALAWAN โ The Commission on Elections (COMELEC), through its Committee on Gender and Youth (COGY), conducted the Phase 2 implementation of the โBakit Ako Bobotoโ and โWear Your REDโ (Redefining Equality and Diversity) campaigns on October 8, 2026, at Barangay Ipilan, Narra, Palawan.
The activity brought together members of the Tagbanua community, as part of the Commissionโs continuing efforts to promote voter education, strengthen political participation, and advance inclusive access to the electoral process.
A key component of the Palawan implementation is the strengthened coordination among government agencies and civil society organizations to address documentation and other barriers to electoral participation.
The initiative is strengthened through collaboration with external partners such as Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), Local Civil Registrar, Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP), BAYI Inc., and HIRAYA Initiatives for Change and Progress Inc. (HIRAYA).
The activity provided community-based assistance on civil registration, identification, and related legal documentation.
Atty. Michelle Frances L. Morales-Paredes, Director IV and Head of COGY, delivered the opening remarks, followed by an inspirational message from Hon. Nelson J. Celis, Commissioner-in-Charge, COGY.
The program also featured discussions on the Right of Suffrage, Filing of Certificates of Candidacy and Election Offenses, Key Features of Voter Registration for Indigenous Peoples, the Role of Youth in Elections, and Transformative Feminist Leadership in Elections, underscoring the importance of informed and active participation of women, youth, and Indigenous Peoples in the electoral process.
The activity concluded with closing remarks from Atty. Gloria G. Ramos-Petallo, Regional Election Director, Region IV-B.
Also present were Provincial Election Supervisor of Palawan Atty. Percival Mendoza, together with Narra's Election Officer Liezl Hablado and other Election Officers of Palawan.
The Phase 2 implementation in Palawan forms part of COMELECโs continuing commitment to inclusive voter empowerment and equal access to the right of suffrage, particularly among sectors that face geographical, documentary, and other barriers to participation in the electoral process.
