LOOK: HAZE FROM BORNEO WILDFIRES REACHES PARTS OF LUZON AND VISAYAS
Haze from massive forest fires in Kalimantan, Indonesia has reached several parts of Luzon and Visayas on Monday, August 31, 2026.
According to monitoring reports, the smoke is being pushed toward the country by the dry southwest monsoon or Habagat.
Areas that may experience haze include:
MIMAROPA: Occidental Mindoro, Oriental Mindoro, Palawan, Marinduque, Romblon
Central Luzon and Metro Manila: Metro Manila, Bataan, Pampanga, Bulacan, Tarlac
CALABARZON: Cavite, Laguna, Rizal, Batangas, Quezon
Bicol Region: Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Catanduanes, Albay, Sorsogon, Masbate
Western Visayas: Antique, Aklan, Capiz, Iloilo, Guimaras, Negros Occidental, Negros Oriental
Central and Eastern Visayas: Cebu, Bohol, Leyte, Biliran, Eastern Samar, Northern Samar, Samar
Authorities warned that haze may pose health risks, especially to children, the elderly, and individuals with respiratory conditions.
Residents in affected areas are advised to stay indoors when possible, keep windows and doors closed, and wear face masks when going outside.
Strenuous outdoor activities and exercise should be avoided.
Motorists are also cautioned to drive carefully as visibility may be reduced in some areas.
Residents experiencing difficulty breathing or chest pain are urged to seek immediate medical attention.
Officials continue to monitor weather and air quality updates.
