Lovicraft Fashion Accessories and Jewelries began as a post-pandemic creative outlet for Lovilyn, who used leftover clay, resin, and beads to craft unique statement jewelry. What started as a nostalgic hobby quickly gained grip on social media, leading to the birth of her brand. Despite the challenges of being a solo artist and facing burnout, Lovilyn scaled her business by finding a like-minded team and opening a physical storefront in Nabunturan, Davao de Oro in 2025.

Her growth was further accelerated by the DTI’s Kapatid Mentor ME program, which refined her business strategy. This support culminated in a highly successful showcase at the Madayaw: The Davao Region Trade Fair on December 4-7, 2025, where she generated over Php 100,000 in sales. Today, Lovicraft is an international success, with resellers in countries like the UK, Canada, and the US. Lovilyn’s journey proves that staying true to one's "core gift" and maintaining a happy heart can turn local craftsmanship into a global legacy.

READ | STATEMENT OF THE DEPARTMENT OF TRADE AND INDUSTRY
On the Magnitude 7.5 Earthquake in Mindanao

The Department of Trade and Industry extends its solidarity and prayers to our fellow Filipinos affected by the magnitude 7.5 earthquake that struck off the coast of Manay, Davao Oriental, this morning, October 10, 2025. The strong tremor, felt at Intensity V in Davao City and surrounding areas, has caused concern across parts of Mindanao and the Visayas. The DTI commends the quick response of local government units, disaster teams, and volunteers working to safeguard lives and livelihoods.

In light of this calamity, the DTI reminds the public that a price freeze on basic necessities automatically takes effect in areas that will be declared under a state of calamity. Our regional and provincial offices in Mindanao will be closely monitoring retail and business establishments to prevent overpricing, hoarding, and profiteering.

We call on businesses to uphold fair trade practices in these challenging times. The DTI remains committed to protecting consumers and supporting affected enterprises toward recovery and resilience.

As part of the culminating activity of NeGOLDsyo 2025 – MSME Week Celebration, Bumubulang Pangkabuhayan,a Detergent-Making Training Workshop was successfully conducted through the partnership of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST), Provincial Government of Davao de Oro – Provincial Administrator’s Office (Tourism Division), the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), and the MSMED Council.

The event was graced by DOST Provincial Director Ms. Mayan Jane J. Inni, who shared the rationale behind DOST's continued support to MSMEs through practical and science-based skills training — empowering communities and enhancing local livelihood potential.

A total of 64 participants joined the training, with some registering online and others invited by DOST. Among them were 12 Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) who attended alongside their ALS teachers, making the event a model of inclusive development.

Spearheaded by trainer Mr. Jonel John Zabala, the participants were provided with data sheets and learned how to calculate the exact amount of ingredients and chemicals required to formulate various detergent products.

Each group was tasked to produce a specific type of detergent after computing the proper formulation. Prior to the hands-on activity, a Product Safety and Handling Seminar was conducted to ensure safety in the mixing and handling of chemicals.

By the end of the session, the participants successfully produced three types of detergents: ✔️ Liquid Dishwashing Soap
✔️ Laundry Detergent
✔️ Fabric Softener

👏 This initiative reflects the strong collaboration between government agencies in promoting sustainable skills development and livelihood opportunities for MSMEs, PWDs, and local communities in Davao de Oro.
