The Provincial Administration Office โ€“ Investment Division Head, MA. Janice J. Boiser, RN, served as the Resource Speaker during the Summer Colloquium 2026 held on June 2, 2026, at the New Library, Legacy College of Compostela โ€“ Annex.

Carrying the theme, "Empowering Future Tourism Professionals: Integrating Marketing, Financial Management, and Economic Strategies for Sustainable Tourism Development," the colloquium brought together aspiring tourism professionals to deepen their understanding of sustainable tourism and the vital role of strategic planning in the industry's growth.

During her presentation, Ms. Boiser shared valuable insights on tourism marketing, financial management, investment opportunities, and economic strategies that contribute to the long-term development of the tourism sector. She also encouraged the students to become innovative, responsible, and globally competitive professionals who can help promote and strengthen the tourism industry while preserving the province's cultural and natural heritage.

The Provincial Administratorโ€™s Office โ€“ Investment Division joined the Department of Tourism (DOT) Region XI, led by Regional Director Tanya Rabat-Tan and her team, during an official visit to the Municipality of Maragusan, Davao de Oro, on July 2, 2026.

Mayor Cesar C. Colina, Sr. emphasized the local governmentโ€™s steadfast commitment to further strengthening the municipalityโ€™s tourism sector, recognizing its significant contribution to economic growth, employment generation, and sustainable community development.

In closing, Regional Director Tanya Rabat-Tan reaffirmed the Department of Tourism Region XIโ€™s unwavering support for the Municipality of Maragusan, particularly in the areas of tourism promotion, product development, and the implementation of programs and initiatives that will further boost tourism not only in Maragusan but throughout the Province of Davao de Oro.

In line with the directive of ๐†๐จ๐ฏ๐ž๐ซ๐ง๐จ๐ซ ๐‘๐š๐ฎ๐ฅ ๐Œ๐š๐›๐š๐ง๐ ๐ฅ๐จ, the PAO-Investment Division visited Lake Leonard in Barangay New Leyte, Maco, to assess the current condition of the lake, which is now heavily covered with water hyacinth. The visit aimed to identify opportunities where the Provincial Government can extend support in transforming this abundant resource into high-quality, marketable products that can provide sustainable livelihood for the local community.

During the visit, we met with Barangay Kagawad Remedios Arias Celebre and Ryan Polido-President of the Fisherfolk Association of New Leyte. They shared that the community sees great potential in utilizing the water hyacinth to produce various handicrafts and value-added products that could generate additional income and strengthen their local economy.

We also discussed the possibility of collaborating with the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) and the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) to conduct skills training and product development workshops focused on water hyacinth utilization. Through this initiative, we hope to equip the community with the knowledge and skills needed to transform an environmental challenge into a sustainable economic opportunity.

Together, we continue to pursue innovative and community-driven solutions that promote environmental stewardship, livelihood generation, and inclusive local development.

The Provincial Government of Davao de Oro, through PAO-Investment Division Head and concurrent Tourism Overseer Ms. Ma. Janice J. Boiser, RN, facilitated initial discussions with the MLGU Mawab for the crafting of the municipalityโ€™s Tourism Development and Marketing Plan.

The activity was attended by HRMO II/Municipal Tourism Officer Designate Ms. Amaeia Stella Michaella Paragua, Mawab Tourism Council President Ms. Chona Gumapac, Municipal Planning and Development Coordinator Ms. Fevelyn Mandafe, and other representatives from MLGU Mawab. Ms. Boiser was accompanied by Development Management Officer III Mr. James D. Dela Cruz.

The initiative marks an important step toward strengthening Mawabโ€™s tourism sector by establishing strategic directions for sustainable tourism development, promotion, and investment generation in the municipality. Following the activity, the planning process will proceed with data gathering and assessment, conduct of workshop sessions, and consultations with key stakeholders in Mawabโ€™s tourism sector to ensure that the plan is responsive, inclusive, and aligned with the municipalityโ€™s development goals.

The Provincial Government of Davao de Oro proudly celebrates another milestone as Ma. Janice J. Boiser, RN, Division Head of the Investment Division, and Jimnanie A. Manigo, DBA, Investment Services Section Head, secured 1st Runner-Up in the Regional Tourism Investment Pitch Contest held during the three-day workshop, โ€œTourism Investment Readiness Amidst Macroeconomic Risk: Developing the Davao Region Investment Tourism Portfolio,โ€ on June 17โ€“19, 2026, at the Grand Regal Hotel, Davao City.

The Davao de Oro team competed against the Tourism and Investment Offices of provinces and cities throughout Region XI, presenting the Tagbibinta Falls Eco-Tourism Investment and Resilience Development Project of Maragusan. The recognition affirms the projectโ€™s strong investment potential, financial viability, resilience-centered approach, and capacity to generate inclusive tourism and economic opportunities for the Province.

Our heartfelt gratitude to Department of Tourism Region XI Regional Director Tanya Rabat-Tan for providing this meaningful platform that strengthened the investment readiness and project-pitching capabilities of tourism and investment officers across the Region.
