30 ARB-Farmers in Kapatagan, Laak, Davao de Oro Graduated in Farmers Business School (FBS) During their Harvest Festival

The Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) Provincial Beneficiaries Development (PBD) Division of Davao de Oro successfully conducted the graduation of 30 Farmers who are all Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries (ARBs) in Farmers Business School (FBS) during their harvest festival on October 21,2024. The event was graced by key speeches from DAR Chief- Nancy S. Ramos, Municipal Agrarian Reform Program Officer- Avelino O. Tocmo, and Municipal Agriculturist- Christopher L. Malayan who emphasized the importance of continued learning and innovation in farming. The graduation marked a milestone for the farmers, who were equipped with new agricultural technologies and practices to enhance their vegetable production and marketing.

Among the graduates, Mila R. Bermil, a 65-year- old farmer, and Edmundo T. Talabon shared heartfelt testimonies expressing their gratitude to DAR, LGU of Laak, and the Department of Agriculture. Bermil highlighted how, despite her old age she found renewed strength in farming because of the joy she gained in watching her farm with healthy and vigorously growing vegetables therein that give her bountiful harvest. She said that unity among farmers in mind, heart, word, and action is key to achieving success in their community’s agricultural endeavors.

DFC PAWARB Multi Purpose Cooperative Rejoiced for the New Biosecured Swine Facility Given by the Government

The brand-new Biosecured Swine Facility of DFC PAWARB was filled with a festive atmosphere during the On-site Turn Over and Blessing held on July 18, 2024 in Purok 4, Magsaysay, New Bataan, Davao de Oro.

The cooperative acquired this facility worth 5 million pesos from the Integrated National Swine Production Initiatives for Recovery and Expansion (INSPIRE) program of the government implemented by the Department of Agriculture (DA) in cooperation with DAR and other government line agencies. INSPIRE aims to help farmer- Hog raisers recover from the devastating effects of African Swine Fever Disease (ASF) and other deadly diseases. This new facility is expected to enhance the cooperative’s swine production capabilities, ensuring biosecurity measures to improve overall productivity.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by Ms. Monday Aretano of DA XI, SUARPO Adolfo Vega of DAR XI, DAR-Davao de Oro Chief Agrarian Reform Program Officer- Nancy S. Ramos, Hon. Mayor Geraldford N. Balbin of New Bataan, Davao de Oro, and Hon. Barangay. Captain Johnny Palmares, Jr. Like the Department of Agriculture and Local Officials, CARPO Nancy encouraged the PAWARB people to take good care of the project to enable future expansion and replication highlighting the responsibility that comes with receiving support and resources.

PAWARB Chairperson Dexter Angelo Jocom and his fellow officials together with the whole membership joyfully accepted the facility and committed to taking care of it and making it productive for swine raising. Mary Jane Cenal, the secretary of PAWARB who was also the Emcee of the event expressed profound gratitude to DA and DAR and requested further support from the government to grant additional livestock like goats and chickens, as they are keen to venture into raising these animals for production.

DAR Davao de Oro turns over a 3-Wheeled Motorcycle Cargo type to Linoan Farmers Integrated Cooperative (LIFICO) under PAHP Program

Another round of applause was accorded by the Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries (ARBs) to the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) during this momentous event held on July 1, 2024 at the Sanitary Function Hall, Nabunturan, Davao de Oro. DAR gave this Cargo type motorcycle to LIFICO to aide in the transportation of their carabao milk distribution particularly their ice cream products, which have been seen growing demand in public schools across the provinces of Davao de De Oro and Davao Oriental. Chairman Gene O. Legarde of LIFICO expressed his warmest gratitude for the assistance given by DAR because it will help them a lot in transporting their products to the market without delay.

Aside from the motorcycle, DAR also facilitated the signing of vital documents for the renewal of marketing contracts between LIPRIMPCO and PMPC, NARCMPC and BJMP to ensure that Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries Cooperatives have stable markets of their products. Chief Agrarian Reform Program Officers (CARPOs) Divino S. Dalanon from DAR XI- Regional Office and Nancy S. Ramos from DAR-Davao de Provincial office delivered inspiring messages, encouraging ARBOs to leverage government assistance for the success in their respective endeavors.

Officials from the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Philippine Carabao Center (PCC) and the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) also shared their valuable insights, motivating the leaders of agrarian reform cooperatives to continue their efforts in the pursuit of success in their business ventures.

DAR Davao de Oro Facilitates Cooperative Training for Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries Cooperatives

The Department of Agrarian Reform- Program Beneficiaries Development Division (DAR-PBDD), successfully conducted trainings on Fundamentals of Cooperative from June 18-19,2024, followed by a Cooperative Governance sessions on June 25-26,2024. Agrarian Reform Program Officer I Roseliza C. Belarmino who served as an emcee during the whole event, set the two trainings to be more informative which both took place at the Sanitary Function Hall in Nabunturan, Davao de Oro.

Benigno Sorima, Jr. a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) who is also an accredited Resource Speaker of the Cooperative Development Authority (CDA) shared his valuable insights that equipped the 13 participating agrarian reform beneficiaries cooperative with the knowledge and skills in effectively running a cooperative. The participants expressed their profound gratitude to DAR for holding these sessions and leave the training hall with enhanced understanding of cooperative fundamentals and governance, which they plan to apply for the betterment of their cooperative.

Awao Communal Irrigators Association, Inc. (ACIA) of Monkayo, Davao de Oro expressed immense joy upon receiving the brand-new Isuzu Hauling Truck from the Department of Agrarian Reform under the Climate Resilient Farm Productivity Support Program (CRFPSP). PARPO I Brenda Mendoza underscored the necessity of the hauling truck in transporting agricultural products from farm to the market, emphasizing the importance of diligent maintenance to ensure the truck’s longevity and sustained utility, urging ACIA to take good care of the asset.

DAR PBDD, Davao de Oro campaigns for Membership of ARB to ARBO during the Distribution of CLOA Titles to 72 Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries (ARBs) in Compostela, Davao de Oro

In a concerted effort to empower Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries (ARBs), the Development Facilitator (DF) of Compostela, Davao de Oro launched a compelling campaign urging the ARBs to be a member of Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries Organizations (ARBOs) during the CLOA Distribution held on March 22, 2024 at Congressional Mini Gym, Compostela, Davao de Oro. The campaign emphasizes the significance of ARBO Membership, underscoring that it facilitates streamlined access to various government livelihood projects and support system.

DAR, Davao de Oro, PARPO II Zaldy A. Arenas and MARPO Rizal T. Omallao of the municipality of Compostela who spearheaded the distribution of land titles to 72 ARBs covering individual ARBs and members of DFC PAWARB pointed out the significance of Republic Act 11953 otherwise known as The New Agrarian Emancipation Act relieving ARBs from financial burdens associated with land amortization and estate tax to landholdings acquired through the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program (CARP). DAR Davao de Oro Provincial Agrarian Reform Program Officer II Zaldy A. Arenas and Municipal Agrarian Reform Program Officer Avelino O. Tocmo, attended the 33 Annual General Assembly of Laak Multi-Purpose Cooperative (LAMPCO).

PARPO II Arenas extended his warmest greetings to the people of LAMPCO and delivered an inspiring message by saying” Your cooperative’s dedication to fostering sustainable development aligns seamlessly with our mission at DAR, and we are proud to have played this journey with you. He stressed the significance of Republic Act 11953 otherwise known as “The New Agrarian Emancipation Act”, making agrarian reform beneficiaries free from financial burdens by condoning all principal loans, unpaid amortizations, and exempting payment of estate tax on agricultural lands awarded through CARP.
