PNP REPORTS GENERALLY PEACEFUL NATIONWIDE OBSERVANCE OF 128TH PHILIPPINE INDEPENDENCE DAY

The Philippine National Police (PNP) reported that the nationwide commemoration of the 128th Philippine Independence Day on Friday, June 12, was generally peaceful, with no major untoward incidents recorded during the day's official activities, public gatherings, and commemorative events.

More than 90,000 PNP personnel, backed by augmentation units and force multipliers, were deployed across the country to secure key venues, transportation hubs, and areas of convergence. Their presence ensured the orderly conduct of Independence Day activities while allowing the public to commemorate the occasion safely.

The day's main celebration at Rizal Park, led by His Excellency President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., served as a meaningful tribute to the nation's freedom and the enduring legacy of its heroes. Chief, PNP, Police General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr. joined the President, together with the heads of national government agencies, diplomatic corps, uniformed services, and other distinguished guests, in the commemorative rites.

Simultaneously, flag-raising ceremonies and Independence Day observances were conducted in Police Regional Offices, Provincial Police Offices, City and Municipal Police Stations, and other PNP units nationwide, reflecting the organization's solidarity with the Filipino people in honoring the country's hard-earned liberty.

Despite several peaceful public assemblies monitored in Metro Manila and other regions, all activities concluded without major disruption. According to the PNP Command Center, a total of 24 public assemblies, with an estimated combined attendance of 1,839 participants, were monitored nationwide. All activities ended peacefully, with the last monitored gathering concluding at around 9:00 pm.

The smooth conduct of security operations reflects the continuing implementation of the PNP Focused Agenda, particularly under Enhanced Managing Police Operations, which emphasizes proactive security planning, inter-agency coordination, and timely police response while upholding the constitutional rights of every Filipino.

Chief, PNP, Police General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr. commended police personnel, partner agencies, local government units, volunteers, and the public for their cooperation in making the nationwide observance peaceful and meaningful.

"Ang Araw ng Kalayaan ay hindi lamang pag-alala sa ating kasaysayan kundi pagpapatibay rin ng ating pananagutan sa isa't isa bilang mga Pilipino. Nagpapasalamat tayo sa ating mga kababayan sa kanilang pakikiisa at responsableng paggunita ng makasaysayang araw na ito. Dahil sa pagtutulungan ng lahat, naging mapayapa at makabuluhan ang ating pagdiriwang sa buong bansa," PGen Nartatez said.

He likewise recognized the dedication of police personnel who remained on duty throughout the celebration.

"Sa bawat pulis na naglingkod ngayong Araw ng Kalayaan, taos-puso akong nagpapasalamat. Ang inyong propesyonalismo, disiplina, at malasakit ang nagbigay ng katiyakan sa ating mga kababayan na maaari nilang gunitain ang araw na ito nang ligtas at maayos. Ipagpatuloy natin ang tapat na paglilingkod sa sambayanan araw-araw," he added.

The PNP remains committed to safeguarding national events and maintaining peace and public order through responsive, professional, and community-oriented policing. Guided by Bagong PNP para sa Bagong Pilipinas: Serbisyong Mabilis, Tapat at Nararamdaman, the organization continues to strengthen public trust by ensuring that every Filipino can celebrate significant national occasions in a safe, orderly, and secure environment.
