Stakeholders mobilize support for Calinogan ES

Despite serving only 35 learners and operating with a six-member teaching force, Calinogan Elementary School, a Last Mile School in Monkayo, received overwhelming support from Provincial and Municipal Local Government Units, private industries, community partners, and volunteers during the Brigada Eskwela 2026 Division Kick-Off Ceremony held on June 2, 2026, helping prepare the school for the opening of School Year 2026–2027.

The collective effort focused on improving the school's physical environment and learning spaces, reflecting the spirit of bayanihan and the shared commitment of stakeholders to providing a safe, welcoming, and conducive learning environment for learners in geographically isolated communities.

Through the combined efforts of the school community and its partners, Calinogan Elementary School is now ready to welcome learners for the new school year.

The activity underscored the importance of collaboration and stakeholder engagement in creating better educational opportunities for underserved school communities.

Laak South District mobilizes stakeholders for Brigada Eskwela 2026

Demonstrating the spirit of bayanihan and shared responsibility in education, schools in Laak South District successfully launched the Brigada Eskwela 2026 Kick-Off Program, bringing together school personnel, parents, learners, community stakeholders, barangay officials, purok leaders, and partner agencies in preparation for the opening of classes.

Anchored on the theme, “Bayanihan sa Paaralan: Nagkakaisa para sa Kaayusan at Kaalaman,” the activity highlighted the importance of community collaboration in creating safe, clean, and learner-friendly school environments.

Participants took part in various school improvement activities, including classroom cleaning, school grounds maintenance, minor repairs of facilities, and organization of learning spaces to ensure school readiness for the incoming school year.

A key highlight of the program was the signing of the Pledge of Commitment by purok leaders, barangay officials, and partner organizations, signifying their continued support for DepEd programs and initiatives.

The active participation of local government units, non-government organizations, and uniformed personnel further strengthened school-community partnerships, reinforcing the collective commitment to providing learners with a safe, inclusive, and conducive environment for learning.

Davao de Oro honors Palarong Pambansa medalists with cash incentives

Palarong Pambansa medalists from Davao de Oro received cash incentives totaling P590,000 from Governor Raul “RM” Mabanglo and Congresswoman Maricar Zamora-Mabanglo during a recognition program held on June 1, 2026, at the Activity Hall of the Provincial Capitol.

Among those recognized was Lysjane Dacay Timbal of Ulip National High School in Monkayo, who received a special incentive of P50,000 from Governor Mabanglo for setting a new Palarong Pambansa record in the 2,000-meter walkathon, where she also secured a gold medal.

Gold medalists received P20,000 each, silver medalists P15,000 each, and bronze medalists P10,000 each.

Davao de Oro concluded its Palarong Pambansa campaign with 17 medals, composed of five gold, nine silver, and three bronze medals.

Governor Mabanglo lauded the athletes for their dedication and contributions to the historic third-place overall finish of the Davao Eagles, attributing the achievement to the athletes’ hard work, the commitment of coaches, and the strong support of partner agencies in advancing sports development in the province.

Davao de Oro athletes clinch 17 wins in PALARO 2026

Davao de Oro's finest student-athletes showcased athletic brilliance at the 2026 PALARONG PAMBANSA, harvesting a total of 17 medals across standard categories and paragames.

Lysjane Dacay Timbal of Ulip National High School set the early golden standard for the delegation, out-pacing the competition to secure the gold medal in the grueling 2000-meter walkathon event.

Over on the tennis courts, Francis Jayvee Dimzon of Maragusan Central Elementary School matching that golden momentum by ruling the elementary tennis doubles division alongside his partner.

The gymnastics mats belonged entirely to Flexie Ibarra, also from Maragusan Central Elementary School, who put on a breathtaking performance to capture the gold medal in the floor exercise.

Ibarra proved to be one of the most versatile athletes of the meet, later returning to the podium to secure two silver medals in both the balance beam and the individual all-around categories.

Davao de Oro’s track and field contingent kept the medal counter spinning with a flurry of multi-medal performances.

Charlene Cos of Maragusan National High School fought her way to a silver medal in the 1500-meter run before doubling down on the distance tracks to capture a bronze medal in the 3000-meter event.

In the elementary division, Llianne Pearl Redoblado of Aurora Elementary School mirrored that impressive range, sprinting and pacing her way to a silver medal in the 1500-meter run and a bronze medal in the 400-meter dash.

In the field and combat events, Jhon Lorence M. Angudo of Mayaon Elementary School threw a spectacular distance to lock in a silver medal in the javelin throw. On the canvas, James Noel Apiag of Consuelo Valderrama National High School punch his way through a tough bracket to take home a silver medal in boxing, while Jhayden Cantallejo of Maco Central Elementary School kicked his way to a bronze medal in Taekwondo.

The Elementary Futsal team added to the collective glory, securing a silver medal after a gritty, hard-fought tournament run.

The Paragames events delivered another massive wave of triumph, anchored by an absolute masterclass from Cyrus Mahinay of Laak National High School.

Mahinay dominated the field to capture two gold medals in the shot put and the running long jump, while showing blistering speed to secure a silver medal in the 100-meter dash.

Joy Miguel of Mawab Central Elementary School completed the inspiring paragames run, anchoring her squad to a silver medal finish in the 4x100-meter relay to wrap up an unforgettable regional showing for Davao de Oro.

Monkayo districts strengthen wellness, camaraderie among personnel

Strengthening workplace wellness and fostering stronger collaboration among education personnel, school heads and non-teaching personnel from Monkayo East and West Districts gathered for the Wellness Culmination Program on May 22, 2026 at Punta Bora Beach Resort.

The activity highlighted the districts’ commitment to promoting physical fitness, mental well-being, teamwork, and work-life balance through meaningful and engaging wellness initiatives.

The culmination program featured various activities that encouraged camaraderie, healthy living, and active participation among personnel, including the Search for Mr. and Ms. Wellness 2026, the Modern Dance Competition, and the recognition of Biggest Loser awardees.

Participants showcased not only their talents and creativity but also their dedication to maintaining healthy lifestyles and positive professional relationships.

Gracing the activity were Public Schools District Supervisor Shirley Jean V. Sugano, EdD, District Coordinating Principal Myralona N. Balawag, and PESPA President Sozonte L. Puedan Jr., EdD, who emphasized the importance of wellness in sustaining productivity and positive working environments.

Maragusan National High School standout Charlen G. Cos captured her second podium finish for the Davao Eagles at the Palarong Pambansa 2026, securing the silver medal in the secondary girls' 1500-meter track event.
