The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), led by Secretary Francis N. Tolentino, through the DOLE Camarines Sur Provincial Office, awarded livelihood starter kits to 56 walk-in beneficiaries under the DOLE Integrated Livelihood Program (DILP).
The beneficiaries, composed of marginalized workers, food vendors, parents of child laborers, former Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs), and solo parents, received livelihood packages to strengthen their income-generating activities. The assistance included 22 baking livelihood kits, 22 food vending kits, and 12 street food vending kits under the project "Nourishing Success: A Livelihood Assistance to Support Food Vendors of Camarines Sur." The initiative has a total project cost of โฑ1,969,215.00.
Among the beneficiaries is Ms. Merly Praxides of Iriga City, a local entrepreneur engaged in baking and the production of p**o seko. Before receiving the livelihood assistance, she managed her business with limited equipment, resulting in small-scale production. Through the additional baking equipment provided by DOLE, Ms. Praxides now looks forward to expanding her enterprise, increasing production, and creating employment opportunities for women in her community.
Expressing her gratitude, Ms. Praxides shared:
DOLE remains committed to empowering workers and entrepreneurs through sustainable livelihood opportunities that promote self-reliance, inclusive economic growth, and improved quality of life for every Filipino.
