Educational Assistance | Selection Process
Last July 13, 2026, during the regular session at the Pacol Barangay Hall, the five (5) beneficiaries of the โฑ20,000 Educational Assistance under PBBM were officially identified through a fair and transparent selection process.
Prior to the activity, Barangay Pacol and the SK posted the guidelines, reminders, and submission deadline. All 37 applicants were also individually notified through the contact numbers they provided regarding the schedule of the orientation, screening, and selection.
Before the orientation officially began, each applicantโs name was called to confirm their presence or the presence of a representative. The applicants were then oriented on the requirements and the selection process.
During the orientation, PB Ruben Limbo explained why the selection would be conducted through a raffle draw, emphasizing that it would give every qualified applicant an equal opportunity to be selected. He also assured the students that whenever opportunities or assistance become available, the Barangay Council will coordinate and communicate these opportunities with the students whenever possible.
During the screening, the council carefully reviewed the list and raised necessary questions regarding the applicantsโ qualifications, including whether they were still 4th-year students and whether their siblings met the required educational status. Some applicants were removed after verification showed that they no longer qualified, including those who had already graduated. Necessary background verification was also conducted to validate the information provided.
After the screening and verification, the final list of qualified applicants was established.
For the raffle, each qualified applicantโs name was written and folded in front of the students and the 9th Sangguniang Barangay. Before placing each folded name into the bowl, each name was called and confirmed once again in front of everyone to ensure that all entries were properly accounted for.
The names were then drawn publicly, and the first five names picked from the bowl were declared the beneficiaries.
Importantly, the qualified students were involved throughout the entire process. From the orientation and screening to the verification and actual raffle draw, the process was conducted openly in their presence to ensure that they could personally witness how the selection was carried out.
Every stepโfrom posting the guidelines and confirming attendance, to orientation, screening, verification, and the actual raffleโwas conducted with the goal of ensuring fairness, transparency, and equal opportunity for all qualified applicants.
The Barangay Council also passed a resolution supporting and affirming the guidelines for the implementation of the educational assistance.
Congratulations to the five beneficiaries, and thank you to all applicants for your cooperation and understanding. ๐๐
