ADHD is a neurodevelopmental condition that affects both children and adults. It’s more than just being “hyper” or “easily distracted.” It impacts focus, impulse control, time management, and organization—but with the right support, individuals with ADHD can thrive!

The Elderly Filipino Week (EFW) is celebrated annually pursuant to Proclamation No. 470, signed by former President Fidel V. Ramos on 26 September 1994. The EFW celebration runs from October 1–7 of every year as a national event to recognize the importance and contributions of Filipino senior citizens

This celebration honors the contributions of Filipino senior citizens, advocates for intergenerational relationships, and promotes the active participation of older adults in inclusive, age-friendly programs.

In line with this, the Local Government Unit of New Washington, under the leadership of our dynamic Mayor Atty. Shimonette P. Francisco, through the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office headed by Ms. Marichu R. Dantes, proudly joins the nation in celebrating this meaningful week.

A heartfelt Mental Health Talk was given by Dr. Ma. Dolores Ramona S. Magayanes, M.D., FPPA, reminding everyone of the importance of mental well-being at any age.

And of course, our amazing seniors wowed us during "Lolo's and Lola's Got Talent", proudly showcasing their incredible skills and timeless talents!

Together, let us continue to uplift, respect, and empower our elders — the pillars of our community.

Join the Local Government Unit of New Washington through the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office as we celebrate our beloved senior citizens during the Elderly Filipino Week!

This year’s theme, “Embracing Age: Living a Life with Dignity and Purpose,” reminds us to honor the wisdom, strength, and contributions of our elders in building a better community and nation.

After the onslaught of Severe Tropical Storm Opong that placed New Washington under Signal No. 3 and has affected 1,483 families as reported by their respected barangays, the Local Government Unit of New Washington immediately responded and sought DSWD support for family food pack augmentation.

The distribution of food packs was held yesterday, September 30, 2025, at the Municipal Auditorium and Sports Complex.

We sincerely thank the volunteers from Philippine Army, New Washington Municipal Police Station, ASU Criminology Students, Tau Gamma Phi – New Washington Chapter, Alpha Kappa Rho – New Washington Chapter and Barangay Tanods of Barangay Cawayan and Barangay Poblacion for their invaluable help in hauling the family food packs.
