General Santos City, May 1, 2026 — More than 22,000 beneficiaries are set to gain emergency employment under a Tulong Panghanapbuhay para sa ating Disadvantaged Workers (TUPAD) program convergence project as the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) XII, National Irrigation Administration (NIA), and Department of Agriculture (DA) sign a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA), reinforcing the Marcos administration’s push for inclusive social development and support to priority sectors such as farmers under the UPLIFT (Unified Package for Livelihoods, Industry, Food, and Transport) program, during the 124th Labor Day Celebration at the KCC Convention and Events Center.

The agreement outlines the joint implementation of community-based works, such as canal desilting and clearing, and the establishment of Gulayan sa Patubigan sites to support food security and livelihood opportunities for farming communities.

The convergence project has a funding requirement of Php 211.25 million, subject to final approval and work programming, and is expected to generate emergency employment for 22,962 workers/beneficiaries across Region XII.
