The Philippine Center for Postharvest Development and Mechanization (PHilMech) is an attached agency of the Department of Agriculture created through Executive Order 366 in 2004 and is mandated to generate, extend and commercialize appropriate and problem-oriented agriculture and fishery postharvest and mechanization technologies.. PHilMech was previously called the Bureau of Postharvest Research and Extension (BPRE) and the National Postharvest Institute for Research and Extension (NAPHIRE).

Their dedication, creativity, and resilience have been instrumental in advancing PHilMechโ€™s initiatives for the agriculture sector. The event served as both a recognition of individual and team achievements and a moment of gratitude for years of committed public service.

Amid the celebration, employees were reminded that every milestone reached by the agency is built on collective effortโ€”grounded in collaboration, innovation, and a shared commitment to empower Filipino farmers through postharvest and mechanization technologies.

๐‹๐Ž๐Ž๐Š | AMDPC Project updates discussed in the 5th PSC meeting

PHilMech, together with the Department of Agriculture and its Korean counterparts, conducted the 5th AMDPC Project Steering Committee meeting and workshop on June 4 at the DA-Central Office in Quezon City.

The committee reviewed the project milestones and accomplishments to assess implementation progress and addressed the project's proposed time-based extension, which will not involve any increase in funding or modification of the existing budget.

The Financial Implementation Status, Project Re-alignment of Targets and Timeline, Sustainability Plan, and Technology Development Updates and Accomplishments were also presented.

Interim Director for Research and Development Dr. Nelson C. Santiago, led the PHilMech delegation in discussing the projectโ€™s progress and future directions.

It concluded with plans geared toward ensuring the full operational readiness of the machines ahead of the Roadshow: Exhibition and Actual Demonstration scheduled in early 2027. | FLMorales

Dalawang Rice Processing Systems (RPS) sa ilalim ng RCEF Mechanization Program ang inilunsad ng PHilMech sa lalawigan ng Cagayan noong June 2, 2026.

Sa pangunguna ni PHilMech Director IV Dr. Dionisio G. Alvindia, pinasinayaan ang RPS 1 na nagkakahalaga ng Php22.3 million para sa Claveria Farmers Multipurpose Cooperative. Binubuo ito ng isang unit ng 1.5-tph multi-stage rice mill, dalawang unit ng 6-ton recirculating dryer, at isang unit ng 12-ton recirculating dryer.

Kasabay nito, isinagawa rin ang groundbreaking ceremony para sa RPS 2 na ilalaan sa Municipal Local Government Unit ng Claveria, na nakatakdang namang i-procure ngayong taon.

Nagpahayag naman ng suporta sa proyekto sina Claveria Mayor LA Guillen-Yapo, mga kinatawan ng lokal na pamahalaan ng Claveria at Cagayan, Department of Agricultureโ€“Regional Field Office 2, at mga miyembro ng tumatanggap na kooperatiba.

Inaasahang makatutulong ang mga pasilidad na ito sa pagpapabuti ng postharvest operations at pagpapataas ng kalidad at halaga ng ani ng mga magsasaka sa lalawigan. | CVAng

Muling pinagkalooban ng akreditasyon ng CPD Council for Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering ang PHilMech bilang Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Provider.

Sa pamamagitan nito, magpapatuloy ang PHilMech sa paghahatid ng mga seminar, pagsasanay, at iba pang learning activities na may kaakibat na CPD points para sa mga Agricultural and Biosystems Engineers sa pangunguna ng Technology Management and Training Division.
