The Municipality of Buenavista, in partnership with the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Guimaras Field Office, invites all interested individuals to participate in the World Day Against Child Labor Campaign and Fun Run on June 12, 2026, at the Buenavista Town Hall, New Poblacion, Buenavista, Guimaras.

With the theme “Takbo Kabataan, Sigaw ay Kalayaan,” this activity aims to raise awareness on the elimination of child labor and promote the protection, welfare, and rights of every child.

Whether you are a student, employee, youth leader, parent, community member, or advocate, your participation helps strengthen our collective commitment to creating a safer and brighter future for our children.

🌱Weekly Barangay Clean-Up Drive🌱May 24-30, 2026 (Week 21)

Together, we make our community cleaner, safer, and healthier!

The Barangay Officials, Staff, and volunteers once again joined forces in our weekly clean-up drive to maintain the cleanliness of our surroundings and promote environmental responsibility. Through teamwork and community participation, we continue to create a better place for everyone.

This week's clean-up drive conducted across four (4) sites with the participation of thirty seven (37) volunteers and seven (7) barangay officials. A total of fifty three (53) kgs. of waste were collected.

Thank you to everyone who showed up and made a difference. Together, we keep our surroundings safe, beautiful, and sustainable. 🌍

🌟📚 LEARNING FROM EXCELLENCE: PASSI CITY EDUCATION LEADERS BENCHMARK BARANGAY SAN NICOLAS 📚🌟

Barangay San Nicolas, Buenavista, Guimaras warmly welcomed the delegates from the Association of Barangay Kagawad Chairman Committee on Education of the City of Passi, Iloilo during their benchmarking activity on May 29, 2026.

Led by Punong Barangay Raymund Gatinao, the Barangay Officials of San Nicolas shared the barangay's best practices and successful initiatives that have made it a recognized model of good governance and community development. The delegation was given valuable insights on the implementation of child-centered programs and initiatives that earned Barangay San Nicolas the distinction of being the Most Child-Friendly Barangay in the Province of Guimaras. Likewise, innovative and sustainable solid waste management practices were highlighted, showcasing the efforts that led to its recognition as The Outstanding Manager for Environment in the Environment Awards and Recognition of the Provincial Government of Guimaras.

The benchmarking activity served as a meaningful platform for knowledge exchange, fostering collaboration among local government leaders committed to advancing quality education, child welfare, environmental stewardship, and community empowerment.

As a role model in grassroots governance, Barangay San Nicolas continues to inspire fellow local government units by demonstrating that excellence is achieved through innovation, dedication, and genuine service to the people.💚♻️👧👦🏆🤝

🏅✨ 𝗡𝗨𝗥𝗧𝗨𝗥𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗬𝗢𝗨𝗡𝗚 𝗖𝗛𝗔𝗠𝗣𝗜𝗢𝗡𝗦, 𝗕𝗨𝗜𝗟𝗗𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗔 𝗖𝗛𝗜𝗟𝗗-𝗙𝗥𝗜𝗘𝗡𝗗𝗟𝗬 𝗖𝗢𝗠𝗠𝗨𝗡𝗜𝗧𝗬 ✨🏅

The youth of Barangay San Nicolas showcased energy, teamwork, and determination during the successful conduct of the 𝗦𝗮𝗻 𝗡𝗶𝗰𝗼𝗹𝗮𝘀 𝗦𝘂𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗿 𝗦𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝘀 𝗖𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗰 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 held on May 7-9, 2026 at the San Nicolas Covered Gym. 🏀🏐

Initiated by the 𝗦𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗴𝘂𝗻𝗶𝗮𝗻𝗴 𝗞𝗮𝗯𝗮𝘁𝗮𝗮𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝗕𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗮𝘆 𝗦𝗮𝗻 𝗡𝗶𝗰𝗼𝗹𝗮𝘀, the three-day activity gathered young participants aged 9 to 14 years old for an engaging and meaningful learning experience focused on basketball, volleyball, physical fitness, and values formation.

More than just a sports training, the clinic aimed to develop fundamental sports skills, promote discipline, teamwork, and sportsmanship, encourage a healthy and active lifestyle, and identify promising young athletes for future development. Through lectures, practical applications, drills, and elimination and championship games, participants were able to enhance both their athletic abilities and personal character.

The activity was made possible through the dedication and guidance of the resource speakers and coaches: Ptr. Ric M. Sedigo for Values Formation, Severino D. Demanalata III for Basketball, and Jason A. Gabo and Deryl Jose G. Reginio for Volleyball.

The 𝐁𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐚𝐲 𝐂𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐥 𝐨𝐟 𝐁𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐚𝐲 𝐒𝐚𝐧 𝐍𝐢𝐜𝐨𝐥𝐚𝐬 convened its 𝐑𝐞𝐠𝐮𝐥𝐚𝐫 𝐒𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 on May 8, 2026 at the Session Hall of Barangay San Nicolas, Buenavista, Guimaras, under the leadership of Punong Barangay Raymund Gatinao. The session served as a venue for deliberation on priority programs, policy implementation, public safety measures, environmental initiatives, and upcoming community activities geared toward strengthening local governance and promoting the general welfare of the constituents.

♻️ 𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐈𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐁𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐚𝐲 𝐄𝐜𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐒𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐝 𝐖𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐞 𝐎𝐫𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞

The Barangay Council emphasized the need for stricter implementation of proper waste segregation at source. The San Nicolas Environmental Task Force was directed to intensify monitoring efforts and encourage every household to actively participate in maintaining cleanliness and environmental sustainability in the community.

🚨 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐜𝐮𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐃𝐑𝐑𝐌 𝐄𝐪𝐮𝐢𝐩𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭

To further improve disaster preparedness and emergency response capabilities, the council discussed the procurement of essential Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM) equipment aimed at ensuring faster and more effective response during emergencies and calamities.

The council also discussed the implementation of the educational collaboration project between Guimaras State University, Barangay San Nicolas, and San Nicolas Elementary School. The initiative aims to provide learning support and strengthen foundational literacy and numeracy skills among young learners in the barangay.

👮 𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐝 𝐄𝐧𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐜𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐋𝐨𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐎𝐫𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐬

To promote peace, order, and public safety, the council reiterated the strict implementation of existing local ordinances, particularly the Anti-Minor on Wheels Ordinance, Curfew for Minors, and the ordinance regulating the use of videoke, karaoke, and other sound-amplifying devices that cause public disturbance beyond 10:00 p.m.

Initial discussions were also conducted regarding the upcoming Annual Foundation Day of Barangay San Nicolas scheduled on September 12–13, 2026. Plans and proposed activities were introduced in preparation for a meaningful and successful community celebration.

The council likewise discussed upcoming barangay activities and programs scheduled for the month of May, reinforcing the barangay’s commitment to responsive leadership and active community engagement.

🌱Weekly Barangay Clean-Up Drive🌱May 3-9, 2026 (Week 18)
“One community, one mission: a cleaner and greener environment. 💚”.
This week's clean-up drive conducted across four (4) sites with the participation of thirty six (36) volunteers and seven (7) barangay officials. A total of fifty five (55) kgs. of waste were collected.
Thank you to everyone who showed up and made a difference. Together, we keep our surroundings safe, beautiful, and sustainable. 🌍
