LGU Numancia Aklan A 4th Class Municipality in the Province of Aklan, Philippines and famous for its delicious lechon! Mission:
1. In about the year 1213 A.D.

Vision:
An economically sustainable, disaster-risks protected, and ecologically-balanced agro-commercial hub of Aklan and home of God-loving, responsive and healthy citizens, led by competent and effective leaders. To improve the quality of life of Numanciahanons through participatory and democratic processes, and live within the limits of carrying capacity of nature and integrity of creation.
2.

To ensure that local development is sustainable based on effective and consultative planning that led to the enhancement of ecologically-balances community.
3. To take lead in the natural resources and ecological solid waste management and promote the vermin-composting program.
4. To ensure human and ecological security, peace and order and public safety.
5. To promote sustainable agriculture thru organic farming and aqua-culture practices, and other appropriate technologies in order to increase productivity, uplift the economic status of the farmers and fishermen, thus alleviating their living condition.
6. To promote good health and safety of the people especially those from the vulnerable sectors of the community.
7. To provide basic and appropriate nutrition and health services thus, making them available and accessible, mobilizing community resources and promoting optimum health for all.
8. To provide a drug-free municipality through Information Education Communication (IEC), establishment of sustainable and adequate livelihood and sports development program for the youth.
9. To encourage full community participation in local governance including the marginalized sectors.

The original name of Numancia is Majanos. The name Majanos, of Malayan in origin, could mean "lowland" for this is the only town in the Province of Aklan that has no highland or even a small hill. From Numancia one can view the mountain of Majaas with its peak shaped like a sarok or sadok. The name Madyaas could have been a derivative of the word mataas meaning "high". When the ten Malay Datus arrived from Borneo, they bought the island of Panay, formerly called the Aninipay from the Aeta Chief Marikudo. The transaction was known as the barter of Panay, Datu Puti gave a sarok to Marikudo and the gold necklace of Kapinagan, and wife of Datu Puti was given to Maniwangtiwan, the wife of Marikudo. There were other goods involved in the transaction and Marikudo gave the lowland area to Datu Puti and members of his party while Marikudo and his tribe occupied the high lands or the hills and the mountains. after having explored the whole island, the Malay leaders met and organized the Madjaas Confederacy or the Katilingban it Madjaas. The Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (MDRRMC) Numancia proudly secured 1st Runner-Up in the recently concluded 10th Aklan Provincial Rescuelympics held last April 10โ€“11, 2025 at the Aklan Sports Complex, Calangcang, Makato, Aklan.

The Rescuelympics is an annual program of the Provincial Government of Aklan through the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO Aklan), aimed at enhancing the readiness and capabilities of local response teams. This yearโ€™s event was judged by evaluators from various government agencies across Region VI.

The competition tested the skills and coordination of participating LGUs in key response scenarios, including vehicular accident extrication, water search and rescue (WASAR), firefighting, and su***de incident management and response.

The MDRRMC Numancia team was composed of members from the MDRRMO Numancia Disaster and Emergency Response Team, Bureau of Fire Protection โ€“ Numancia, and Philippine Coast Guard โ€“ Numancia Sub-Station.

Among the 16 participating LGUs across Aklan, LGU Malay โ€“ MDRRMC emerged as Champion, followed by MDRRMC Numancia (1st Runner-Up) and LGU Nabas โ€“ MDRRMC (2nd Runner-Up).

This remarkable achievement reflects the teamโ€™s hard work, dedication, and determination in strengthening disaster preparedness and emergency response.

For the information of all beneficiaries of the Social Pension Program for Senior Citizens in the Municipality of Numancia:

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Regional Office 6 - Western Visayas, through Regional Director Arwin O. Razo, would like to inform the Municipal Mayor, Jeserel T. Templonuevo, C.E., and the constituents of Numancia about the implementation of the Social Pension Program for Indigent Senior Citizens in the local government of Numancia. The letter reads as follows:

Dear Mayor Templonuevo:

Greetings!

This has reference to the implementation of Social Pension Program for Indigent Senior Citizens. Please be informed that we are still waiting for the remaining cash allocation from DSWD Central Office to complete the processing of the stipend for the eligible beneficiaries.

In the event that no downloading will take place by the end of March, rest assured that the same will be downloaded by the 2nd quarter of 2025.

Likewise, please ensure that an approved certificate of exemption from your local COMELEC is ready should opt to conduct pay-out from March 28-May 12, 2025, however, if no certificate of exemption is available, you may release the same after May 12, 2025.

Anent this, may we enjoin your kind support and understanding as we are doing our best to process the request for the downloading of funds. Our apologies for the possible delay in the release of the first quarter stipend of Social Pension beneficiaries.

Our Project Development Officer I/Social Welfare Assistant assigned in your area will coordinate with you regarding this matter.

โ€ข Holding political rallies, caucuses, meetings, or parades for election campaigning;
โ€ข Making speeches, announcements, or media commentaries to support or oppose a candidate;
โ€ข Publishing, distributing, or displaying campaign materials promoting or opposing a candidate;
โ€ข Directly or indirectly soliciting votes, pledges, or support for a candidate or party;
โ€ข Using government resourcesโ€”such as time, personnel, facilities, and equipmentโ€”for political purposes;
