πŸ“’ BARANGAY PUBLIC ADVISORY

πŸ– AFRICAN SWINE FEVER (ASF) AWARENESS AND PREVENTION

The Barangay Government reminds all residents, especially hog raisers and backyard pig farmers, to stay alert and help prevent the spread of African Swine Fever (ASF).

What is ASF?
African Swine Fever is a highly contagious viral disease that affects domestic and wild pigs. While it can cause severe losses to the swine industry, ASF does NOT affect humans and is NOT transmitted through pork consumption. However, it spreads easily among pigs and can be fatal to them.

πŸ›‘οΈ How You Can Help Prevent ASF:

βœ… Do not feed pigs with untreated food waste or swill.
βœ… Keep pig pens clean and disinfect regularly.
βœ… Limit visitors and unauthorized entry into pig farms.
βœ… Avoid bringing pigs or pork products from areas with reported ASF cases unless authorized by the proper authorities.
βœ… Immediately report any sick or dead pigs showing unusual symptoms to the Barangay Office or the Municipal/City Agriculture Office.
βœ… Follow all biosecurity measures and government guidelines.

⚠️ Watch for Possible Signs of ASF in Pigs:

β€’ High fever
β€’ Loss of appetite
β€’ Weakness or difficulty standing
β€’ Red or bluish discoloration of the skin, ears, or abdomen
β€’ Vomiting or diarrhea
β€’ Sudden death

🚫 Do not sell, slaughter, transport, or dispose of sick or dead pigs without notifying the authorities.

The cooperation of every resident is essential in protecting our community's livestock and supporting our local hog raisers. By reporting suspected cases early and following preventive measures, we can help stop the spread of ASF.

For inquiries or to report suspected ASF cases, please contact the Barangay Office or your Municipal/City Agriculture Office.

Together, let us protect our livestock and keep our community ASF-free.
