On June 18, 2026 DTI Zambales participated on the San Marcelino Sangguniang Bayan Committee on Market, Trade and Industry Meeting.

Provincial Director Enrique D. Tacbad, PhD presented the Project METRO: Monitoring Enforcement Tracking Resource Online as part of Public Market Digitization.

Present during the meeting are CTIDS Neil John M. Fabay, SBM, Louella Aquino MD, SBM Jay Peralta, SBM Apolinario Abelon, SBM Earl Yap MD, SBM Alex Beltran, SBM Jeffrey Pimentel and SBM Darrel Labio.

Project METRO is an innovative digital compliance system initiated by the DTI Zambales and Gordon College in early 2026. This system was designed to make market inspections and fair-trade enforcement smarter, more transparent, and fully digitized. The initiative aims to create a more efficient, transparent, and accessible marketplace where technology enhances public service delivery and economic opportunities.

June 18, 2026 | DTI Zambales together with LPCC Members conducted market monitoring enforcement activities at Palauig Public Market, Palauig, Zambales. 55 stalls monitored, 14 defective weighing scales confiscated.

The said activity aims to address and prevent unreasonable price increases of essential, basic and prime commodities and ensure market vendors' compliance with Business Name regulations and permits, Price Tag Law and other Fair-Trade laws and conduct of "Operation Timbangan". Vendors were also reminded of the importance of meat safety handling and good public market practices.

LOOK | DTI Zambales through the Consumer Protection Division simultaneously conducted price and supply monitoring of Basic Necessities and Prime Commodities in Castillejos, Zambales on June 17, 2026.

The activity aims to ensure that the prices of basic necessities and prime commodities remain within the Suggested Retail Prices (SRPs) and are properly displayed for consumers’ guidance. During the inspection, the team visited various grocery stores and supermarkets to check prevailing prices and assess compliance with existing price regulations. In terms of supply, supermarket and grocery owners confirmed that their stocks are sufficient to last for at least one month, indicating strong inventory preparedness.

Continuous monitoring, validation of product availability, and timely reporting will be sustained by the DTI Zambales to ensure accurate market information and consumer protection.

On June 17, 2026, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Zambales, led by Provincial Director Enrique D. Tacbad, in collaboration with the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) Provincial Office, successfully conducted the “Skills Training on Handicraft Making cm Product Development” for members of the IGLOTA Farmer Weavers Association at Sitio Dapla, Brgy. Salaza, Palauig, Zambales.

The training aimed to strengthen the participants’ skills in handicraft production and product development while promoting sustainable and environmentally responsible livelihood practices.

Present during the activity were DTI Zambales Provincial Director Enrique D. Tacbad; DAR Zambales Program Beneficiaries Development Division (PBDD) Head Dana Domingo; Anna Marie Mallare of DAR Zambales; Resource Person Mr. Carlo R. Dizon; CARP Coordinator Andy Marc Bactad; and Business Counselor Eileen Grace C. del Fierro.

The collaborative effort highlighted the commitment of both DTI and DAR to empowering communities through skills enhancement, enterprise development, and sustainable livelihood opportunities.

The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Zambales, represented by NC TIDS Jhoana Rosalyn Pona, together with Small Business Corporation (SB Corp) Zambales Coordinator Erson Salamatin, and in partnership with the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) participated in the Retooled Community Support Program (RCSP) “Serbisyo Caravan” held at the Barangay Covered Court of San Roque, Castillejos, Zambales on June 17, 2026.

As part of the caravan, DTI Zambales promoted its programs and services for entrepreneurs and aspiring business owners. The office provided business consultancy services to eight ( 8 ) clients, four (4) of whom successfully registered their new Business Names (BN). The consultations covered business development, registration requirements, and available government support programs for MSMEs and aspiring entrepreneurs.

The RCSP Serbisyo Caravan reflects the government's commitment to bringing essential services closer to the people and supporting inclusive community development through strengthened collaboration among national and local government agencies.

LOOK | In line with the implementation of Executive Order No. 118, s. 2026, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Zambales, through its Consumer Protection Division, intensifies its price and supply monitoring of imported rice in Subic, Zambales on June 16, 2026.

Under EO 118 issued by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., a temporary nationwide price ceiling of ₱50.00 per kilogram is mandated for imported (5% broken) rice to protect consumers from artificial price spikes and unfair market practices.

The DTI Zambales team continues to actively inspect groceries and supermarkets to ensure strict compliance, verify price tags, and guarantee that rice remains accessible.
