Sa pagdeklara ng Lungsod ng Olongapo ng State of Calamity, ayon sa Sangguniang Panglunsod Resolution No. 196-2026, ang Department of Trade and Industry – Zambales ay nagtakda ng automatic price freeze sa mga pangunahing bilihin alinsunod sa Section 6, Republic Act No. 7581 or ang Price Act.

Ayon sa Price Act, ang mga retailer na magbebenta ng higit sa mga nakalistang prevailing prices ay may karampatang multang administratibo.

September 01, 2026 | BNPC Price Monitoring and Distribution of Price Freeze Documents in Olongapo City under State of Calamity; an Automatic Price Freeze on Basic Necessities is in effect pursuant to RA 7581 (Price Act), valid for up to 60 days from the declaration date.

Current inventory is sufficient to last 3–4 weeks. All basic necessities are frozen at pre-calamity prevailing prices; monitored prices remain within DTI's Suggested Retail Price (SRP) levels.

​All main roads are passable; public markets and retail establishments remain fully operational.

DTI ZAMBALES CHECKS STORE PRICES IN SUBIC AFTER STATE OF CALAMITY DECLARATION

September 1, 2026 | Following the declaration of a State of Calamity in Zambales (Resolution No. 2026-395), the DTI Zambales - Consumer Protection Division visited 6 stores in Subic to check on basic goods and hand out official Prize Freeze updates.

Under the Price Act (RA 7581, Section 6), prices of everyday basic items are automatically locked at their normal rates whenever a calamity is declared. DTI Zambales is actively monitoring local markets to prevent unfair price hikes and protect buyers.

August 27, 2026 | DTI Zambales through its Consumer Protection Division conducted Sales Promotion Monitoring Activities at Subic Bay Freeport Zone. The DTI monitors sales promotion activities to protect consumers from misleading practices and to ensure fair competition among businesses.

Pursuant to Article 116 of Republic Act No. 7394 or the Consumer Act of the Philippines, no sales promotion campaign shall be conducted without first securing the necessary permit from the concerned government agency.

On August 26–27, 2026, DA-PhilRice’s NutriRice Crop market survey was held at the Municipal Building and Public Market Office, Barangay Libertad, San Narciso, Zambales, with key assistance from DTI Zambales through Negosyo Center San Narciso. Headed by Henry Mamucod and NC TIDA Johanna Llabres, and supported by Hon. Mayor La Rainne Abad-Sarmiento, the team interviewed 130 participants to gather feedback on Veggie Brandesal and Easy-to-Cook Brown Rice Congee.

This inter-agency collaboration yields valuable insights to refine products, advance nutritious local offerings, and create lasting opportunities across Zambales.
