LOOK: READY AND RESPONSIVE: Group Commander Oversees Mustering of 1903rd RRIBde and 801st RRIBn

CAMP SUMOROY, NORTHERN SAMAR — On June 2, 2026, Colonel Ramonito C. Taboy, Group Commander of the 8th Regional Community Defense Group (8RCDG), led the mustering of the 1903rd Ready Reserve Infantry Brigade (1903rd RRIBde) under Acting Brigade Commander Colonel Agustin Ganaden Sr. (Res) PA, and the 801st Ready Reserve Infantry Battalion (801st RRIBn) under Acting Battalion Commander Major Neil S. Hernandez (Res) PA at Camp Sumuroy, Brgy. Dalakit, Catarman. This assembly evaluated the operational readiness of the units, reinforcing their mandate to develop, organize, train, and manage a capable, responsive, and mobilizable reserve force. By remaining prepared, these units actively back the Joint Task Force STORM mission to help maintain peace, security, and development across Region 8.

Grounded in Republic Act 7077 (the Citizen Armed Forces of the Philippines Reservist Act), the gathering highlighted the core duties of the Reserve Force. Guided by honor, patriotism, and duty, these citizen-soldiers stand ready to support the main military force during war, invasion, or rebellion. Beyond national defense, they are fully prepared to assist in disaster relief and rescue operations, contribute to local socio-economic growth, and help operate essential public and private utilities when needed. Under Colonel Taboy's leadership, these reservists continue to serve as dependable guardians of peace and progress in Northern Samar. 🫡🎖️🇵🇭

LOOK: 801CDC Officially Opens ROTC Summer Camp Training Class 10-2026.

CAMP SUMOROY, NORTHERN SAMAR — On June 2, 2026, the ROTC Summer Camp Training (RSCT) MS-3, Class 10-2026 officially commenced at Camp Sumuroy, Catarman. Conducted by the 801st Community Defense Center (801CDC) under the 8th Regional Community Defense Group (8RCDG), this intensive camp brings together 115 Second Class Cadet Officers from the University of Eastern Philippines (UEP) Main Campus and its six provincial affiliated units. Major Neil S. Hernandez (Res) PA, Acting Battalion Commander of the 801st RRIBn, welcomed the participants, highlighting the powerful alliance between civilian governance and military service.

The successful activation of this training is a direct result of the leadership and dedication of Colonel Ramonito C. Taboy, Group Commander of the 8RCDG. By formally declaring the training open, Colonel Taboy launched a highly structured curriculum designed to transform ordinary students into elite citizen-soldiers, establishing a high standard of operational readiness and youth development for the entire region.

Guest of Honor and Speaker Colonel Ericson V. Rosana, Deputy Commander of the 803rd Infantry Brigade, 8ID, PA, further inspired the cadets by emphasizing the three pillars of success: Discipline, Leadership, and Esprit-de-Corps. Acting as a vital stepping stone toward earning future military commissions, this 14-day camp fulfills the mandates of Republic Act 7077 and the "Army 2040" vision, forging the core values of Honor, Patriotism, and Duty into Northern Samar's next generation of leaders. 🫡🎖️🇵🇭

LOOK | 8RCDG, RCPA Personnel Join Brigada Eskwela 2026, Strengthening the Spirit of Bayanihan.

ORMOC CITY, LEYTE — 01 June 2026 — Personnel of the 8th Regional Community Defense Group (8RCDG), Reserve Command, Philippine Army, led by TSg Ariel S. Tocjayao, Chief RPA/CMO NCO and joined by SSg Ricky L. Legario and eight enlisted reservists from 804RRIBn participated in the Brigada Eskwela 2026 Kick-Off Program at New Ormoc City National High School, Brgy. Don Felipe Larrazabal, Ormoc City, Leyte.

In coordination with teachers and parents, the reservists helped prepare the school for the opening of classes, embodying the spirit of “Bayanihan sa Paaralan: Nagkakaisa para sa Kaayusan at Kaalaman.”

Their participation highlights the Reserve Force’s commitment to community service, education, and nation-building through volunteerism and collective action.

CAMP JORGE DOWNES, Ormoc City, Leyte – On June 1, 2026, Headquarters, 8th Regional Community Defense Group (8RCDG), Reserve Command, Philippine Army conducted the Opening Ceremony of the ROTC Summer Camp Training (RSCT) Class 09-2026 at the Parade Ground, 802nd Infantry Brigade, 8ID, PA, Camp Jorge Downes, Ormoc City, Leyte.

Col. Ramonito C. Taboy, Group Commander, 8RCDG, spearheaded the event as Keynote Speaker, establishing training parameters and declaring the participants ready with an inspiring charge on patriotism, discipline, and reserve force duty.

The successful launch was executed alongside the unit's organic leadership team, featuring Col. Raymundo C. Picut Jr., Deputy Group Commander, who delivered the Welcome Remarks, and Lt. Col. Edson M. Abello, Operations Officer, who presented the participants. Together, they ensured a flawless start to a summer of growth for the incoming cadets.

LOOK | Honoring Excellence, Leadership, and Service at the NwSSU NSTP–ROTC Graduation Ceremony 🫡✨

CALBAYOG CITY, SAMAR | 31 May 2026 — The Northwest Samar State University (NwSSU) NSTP–ROTC Unit celebrated the graduation of its cadets, marking a significant milestone in developing disciplined, patriotic, and service-oriented young leaders.

The ceremony was graced by Col. Ramonito C. Taboy FS (GSC) PA, Group Commander, 8RCDG, RESCOM, PA, who served as the Guest of Honor and Speaker (GOHAS) and inspired the graduates through his message on patriotism, leadership, and national service.
