𝐈𝐍 𝐏𝐇𝐎𝐓𝐎𝐒: Under the leadership of 𝐂𝐀𝐏𝐓 𝐀𝐋𝐕𝐈𝐍 𝐁 𝐃𝐀𝐆𝐀𝐋𝐄𝐀 𝐏𝐂𝐆, Commander of Coast Guard District Eastern Visayas and as part of Pre-anniversary Activities, the Coast Guard Station Western Leyte together with Coast Guard Sub-Station Ormoc, OPCON personnel, Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) Ormoc, 802nd Infantry Brigade Philippine Army, and the 1102nd, 1103rd, and 1105th Philippine Coast Guard Auxiliary (PCGA) Squadrons, conducted a Coastal Clean-Up Drive at Ormoc City Plaza, Ormoc City, Leyte.

The activity brought together uniformed personnel, partner organizations, and volunteers in a collective effort to promote environmental awareness and protect the coastal and riverine ecosystems of Western Leyte. Through their concerted efforts, a total of 250 sacks of garbage were successfully collected from the area.

The successful conduct of the activity underscores the importance of unity and inter-agency cooperation in addressing environmental concerns. It also reflects the Philippine Coast Guard’s continuing commitment to environmental protection, community service, and the preservation of marine and river ecosystems.

The Philippine Coast Guard remains committed to working hand in hand with government agencies, partner organizations, and local communities in advancing initiatives that contribute to a cleaner, safer, and more sustainable environment for all.

𝐈𝐍 𝐏𝐇𝐎𝐓𝐎𝐒: Under the leadership of 𝐂𝐀𝐏𝐓 𝐀𝐋𝐕𝐈𝐍 𝐁 𝐃𝐀𝐆𝐀𝐋𝐄𝐀 𝐏𝐂𝐆, Commander of Coast Guard District Eastern Visayas, the Coast Guard Station Western Leyte and personnel of CGSS Palompon, led by 𝐏𝐎𝟑 𝐈𝐀𝐍 𝐌𝐀𝐑𝐊 𝐓 𝐏𝐔𝐃𝐀𝐃𝐄𝐑𝐀 𝐏𝐂𝐆, conducted an information drive on the 𝐒𝐚𝐟𝐞𝐭𝐲, 𝐒𝐞𝐜𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐲, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐄𝐧𝐯𝐢𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐍𝐮𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 (𝐒𝐒𝐄𝐍) 𝐒𝐲𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐦 at Brgy. Looc, Palompon, Leyte.

The activity oriented 45 participants on the importance of SSEN in vessel identification, maritime safety, and accountability. A total of six (6) motor bancas were successfully registered and marked.

The initiative supports the PCG’s iCARE Program, strengthening maritime safety, security, environmental protection, and community engagement.

𝐈𝐍 𝐏𝐇𝐎𝐓𝐎𝐒: Under the leadership of 𝐂𝐀𝐏𝐓 𝐀𝐋𝐕𝐈𝐍 𝐁 𝐃𝐀𝐆𝐀𝐋𝐄𝐀 𝐏𝐂𝐆, Commander, Coast Guard District Eastern Visayas, the Coast Guard Station Western Leyte, in coordination with the Special Operations Unit – Eastern Visayas (SOU-EV), conducted a Lecture and Knot-Tying Activity for the participants of the Water Search and Rescue (WASAR) Training Class 28-2026 on 18 August 2026 at Brgy. Lake Danao, Ormoc City, Leyte.

The activity aimed to enhance the participants’ knowledge and practical skills in proper knot-tying techniques, rope handling, and their application during water search and rescue operations.

This training underscores the Philippine Coast Guard’s commitment to strengthening the capability, preparedness, and operational readiness of its personnel and partner agencies in responding to water-related emergencies. Through continuous instruction and hands-on exercises, CGS Western Leyte and SOU-EV ensure that responders are equipped with the essential knowledge and skills necessary to effectively conduct rescue operations and save lives within their area of responsibility.

𝐈𝐍 𝐏𝐇𝐎𝐓𝐎𝐒: Under the leadership of 𝐂𝐀𝐏𝐓 𝐀𝐋𝐕𝐈𝐍 𝐁 𝐃𝐀𝐆𝐀𝐋𝐄𝐀 𝐏𝐂𝐆, Commander, Coast Guard District Eastern Visayas, and 𝐋𝐓𝐉𝐆 𝐌𝐀𝐑𝐓 𝐀𝐍𝐃𝐑𝐄𝐖 𝐂 𝐌𝐀𝐍𝐆𝐎𝐋𝐀𝐑𝐄 𝐏𝐂𝐆, Station Commander of Coast Guard Station Western Leyte together with Coast Guard Sub-Station Ormoc, and personnel from the Special Operations Unit - EV, Medical Station - EV, and the Nursing Service Support Unit - EV, successfully convened Water Search and Rescue (WASAR) Training Class 28-2026 for 12 participants from DENR CENRO Ormoc at Lake Danao, Ormoc City.

The training focused on enhancing the participants’ knowledge of water safety, the proper use of life-saving equipment, basic rescue techniques, and emergency response procedures during water-related incidents. This initiative underscores the Philippine Coast Guard’s commitment to strengthening inter-agency collaboration and disaster preparedness within the community. Through continuous training and partnerships, CGS Western Leyte ensures that both PCG personnel and partner agencies are ready and capable to respond effectively in safeguarding lives and protecting the environment in Western Leyte.

𝐏𝐀𝐍𝐎𝐎𝐑𝐈𝐍: Paalala mula sa tanggapan ng Coast Guard District - Eastern Visayas sa pangunguna ni 𝐂𝐀𝐏𝐓 𝐀𝐋𝐕𝐈𝐍 𝐁 𝐃𝐀𝐆𝐀𝐋𝐄𝐀 𝐏𝐂𝐆, na isa sa mahahalagang tungkulin ng 𝐏𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐩𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐂𝐨𝐚𝐬𝐭 𝐆𝐮𝐚𝐫𝐝 (𝐏𝐂𝐆) ay ang pagsasagawa ng 𝐏𝐫𝐞-𝐃𝐞𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐈𝐧𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 (𝐏𝐃𝐈) sa mga barko, motorbanca, at iba pang sasakyang-dagat bago sila payagang bumiyahe o umalis sa pantalan.

Layunin ng PDI na matiyak na ang bawat sasakyang-dagat ay seaworthy, ligtas, at sumusunod sa mga umiiral na maritime safety regulations bago maglayag.

Sa pamamagitan ng PDI, sinusuri ang mga kinakailangang safety equipment, dokumento, kondisyon ng vessel, passenger capacity, cargo, at iba pang safety requirements upang maiwasan ang mga aksidente at insidente sa dagat.

Kaligtasan sa dagat ay responsibilidad nating lahat.

Huwag ipagsapalaran ang buhay at kaligtasan ng mga pasahero at tripulante. Siguraduhing nakapasa sa Pre-Departure Inspection bago maglayag.

𝐈𝐍 𝐏𝐇𝐎𝐓𝐎𝐒: Under the leadership of 𝐂𝐀𝐏𝐓 𝐀𝐋𝐕𝐈𝐍 𝐁 𝐃𝐀𝐆𝐀𝐋𝐄𝐀 𝐏𝐂𝐆, Commander, Coast Guard District Eastern Visayas, the Coast Guard Sub-Station Bato (CGSS Bato) conducted Safety, Security, and Environmental Numbering (SSEN) and an information drive entitled “𝑷𝒂𝒂𝒍𝒂𝒍𝒂 𝒔𝒂 𝒎𝒈𝒂 𝑴𝒂𝒏𝒈𝒊𝒏𝒈𝒊𝒔𝒅𝒂 𝒔𝒂 𝑷𝒂𝒏𝒂𝒉𝒐𝒏 𝒏𝒈 𝑩𝒂𝒈𝒚𝒐 𝒂𝒕 𝑻𝒂𝒈-𝒖𝒍𝒂𝒏” at Barangay Dolho, Bato, Leyte, benefiting a total of forty (40) fishermen.

The activity focused on the registration and documentation of both motorized and non-motorized bancas operating within the area, while reinforcing awareness on maritime safety and emphasizing the importance of observing necessary precautionary measures during the rainy season and adverse weather conditions.

Subsequently, personnel of the Maritime Environmental Protection Unit (MEPU) Western Leyte conducted informative lectures on Oil Spill Awareness and Solid Waste Management, highlighting the shared responsibility of coastal communities in protecting the marine environment and preventing pollution.

The activity was spearheaded by PO2 Ben Z Madula PCG, Sub-Station Commander of CGSS Bato, and was conducted in support of the Philippine Coast Guard’s Intensified Community Assistance, Awareness, Response, and Enforcement (iCARE) Program.

Through sustained community engagement and information dissemination, the Philippine Coast Guard continues to strengthen its partnership with fisherfolk and coastal communities in promoting maritime safety, environmental protection, and preparedness, particularly during the rainy season and periods of inclement weather.

𝐂𝐀𝐏𝐓 𝐀𝐋𝐕𝐈𝐍 𝐁 𝐃𝐀𝐆𝐀𝐋𝐄𝐀 𝐏𝐂𝐆, Commander, Coast Guard District Eastern Visayas, paid a courtesy visit to 𝐌𝐫. 𝐁𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐫𝐝 𝐂. 𝐂𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐝𝐨, Port Manager of the Port Management Office (PMO) Western Leyte/Biliran.

The courtesy visit provided an opportunity to discuss matters concerning the continuation of the construction of the Coast Guard Station Western Leyte temporary office, as well as other operational requirements and support necessary to enhance the delivery of Coast Guard services in the area.

The engagement highlights the Philippine Coast Guard’s commitment to strengthening coordination between the Philippine Coast Guard and the Philippine Ports Authority, while fostering productive partnerships with government agencies and other stakeholders in support of maritime safety, maritime security, and efficient public service delivery in Western Leyte and nearby areas.

𝐈𝐍 𝐏𝐇𝐎𝐓𝐎𝐒: In observance of International Mangrove Conservation Day 2026, Coast Guard Station Western Leyte (CGS Western Leyte), together with Coast Guard Sub-Station Ormoc (CGSS Ormoc), its Operational Control (OPCON) Units, and the Philippine Coast Guard Auxiliary (PCGA) 1102nd and 1103rd Squadrons, participated in a mangrove planting activity held at Naungan Eco Park, Ormoc City, Leyte.

The activity underscored the collective commitment of the participating units to the protection and preservation of the coastal environment by promoting mangrove rehabilitation and environmental stewardship. A total of fifty (50) mangrove propagules were successfully planted, contributing to the continuous efforts to restore and strengthen coastal ecosystems while raising public awareness on the vital role of mangroves in biodiversity conservation, shoreline protection, and climate resilience.

Together, we remain steadfast in safeguarding our marine environment for present and future generations.
