ORMOC LINGGO NG KABATAAN 2026 | CULMINATING ACTIVITY

And just like that, we wrap up an unforgettable Linggo ng Kabataan 2026!

From planting seeds for a greener future through our Tree Growing Activity, to building connections and ideas at the Ormoc Youth Convergence; celebrating the passion and creativity of youth organizations through the Youth Organizations Expo; bringing youth organizations closer to registration and recognition through the YORP Caravan; opening conversations on important youth concerns through BUHIlieve; and preparing our graduating students for the world beyond the classroom through WOW LEGS: World of Work – Labor Education for Graduating Students—this week was filled with meaningful spaces for young people to learn, connect, create, lead, and take action.

We culminated the weeklong celebration with an exciting showcase of talent, creativity, and youth expression through three competitions:

🎬 aVIDEOcacy Short-Film Making Contest — where young filmmakers used storytelling to shine a light on pressing youth issues and spark meaningful conversations.

🎤 Tinig ng Kabataan Singing Competition — where young voices took center stage, filling the celebration with passion, confidence, and incredible musical talent.

♻️ Trashion Show — where creativity met sustainability, transforming reusable and discarded materials into extraordinary fashion pieces and turning environmental advocacy into art.

More than a celebration, this week reminded us that the youth may come from different contexts, but we share common aspirations for a better future.

A heartfelt thank you to our Technical Working Group (TWG) — composed of the CYDO Staff, CYDC, SK Fed Officers and Cluster Heads and SK Fed Staff— whose collective effort and commitment served as a pillar of the success of this weeklong celebration.

To all our participants, youth leaders organizations, student leaders, performers, contestants, and young Ormocanons—thank you for showing up, sharing your talents, raising your voices, and making this celebration truly yours. You are the heart of Linggo ng Kabataan.

And to the City Government of Ormoc headed by Mayor Lucy Torres Gomez, thank you for your continued support and commitment to creating spaces where the youth can participate, lead, create, and make a difference.

This week may be over, but the conversations, connections, ideas, and aspirations we built together continue.

LINGGO NG KABATAAN 2026: WORLD OF WORK | Labor Education for Graduating Students

On August 14, 2026, the City Youth Development Office, successfully conducted the World of Work – Labor Education for Graduating Students, an initiative designed to prepare graduating students for the realities, opportunities, and responsibilities of entering the workforce.

The activity was conducted in partnership with the Sanguniang Kabataan ( SK), PESO, ORMOC- TESDC, LEDIPO, DOLE, and IMG, as part of the Linggo ng Kabataan 2026, anchored on the theme “Different Aspects, Common Aspirations.”

The program brought together graduating students who gained valuable knowledge and insights on employment opportunities, labor rights and responsibilities, workplace readiness, and other essential matters as they transition from school to the world of work.

Through this collaborative initiative, the CYDO together with its partner agencies, continue to empower the youth by equipping them with the knowledge, confidence, and skills they need to take meaningful steps toward their future careers.

Preparing today’s graduates for tomorrow’s opportunities.

Empowering the Youth, One Registration at a Time!

The 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵 𝗢𝗿𝗴𝗮𝗻𝗶𝘇𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗥𝗲𝗴𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗮𝘃𝗮𝗻 brought together 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗴 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗼𝗿𝗴𝗮𝗻𝗶𝘇𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 from 𝗦𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘁 𝗣𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗿’𝘀 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗴𝗲, 𝗦𝗮𝗻 𝗟𝗼𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘇𝗼 𝗥𝘂𝗶𝘇 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗴𝗲, 𝗦𝘁o. 𝗡𝗶ñ𝗼 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗴𝗲, 𝗦𝗧𝗜 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗴𝗲 𝗢𝗿𝗺𝗼𝗰, and 𝗔𝗖𝗟𝗖 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗴𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗢𝗿𝗺𝗼𝗰 in a meaningful initiative spearheaded by the 𝗖𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵 𝗗𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗖𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗹 (𝗖𝗬𝗗𝗖) and the 𝗦𝗞 𝗙𝗲𝗱𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻.

Together, we continue to create opportunities for the youth to be heard, organized, and 𝗲𝗺𝗽𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗮 𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗰𝘁 in our community.

BUHIlieve: Bridging Understanding for a Healthier and Inspired Youth

As part of Linggo ng Kabataan 2026, BUHIlieve brings together young people for meaningful discussions on some of the realities faced by today’s youth—from teenage pregnancy and mental health to substance abuse, HIV-AIDS & STI, and the importance of blood donation.

Through HIV Testing and Blood Donation Drive, the activity goes beyond discussion and creates opportunities for the youth to take part in building a healthier community.

Because understanding creates awareness, awareness inspires action, and action creates change.

ORMOC YOUTH CONVERGENCE 2026: A Celebration of Ideas, Connections, and Youth Action!

The Ormoc Youth Convergence 2026, held on August 12, was an unforgettable success!

It truly showed what can happen when passionate young leaders come together to share bold ideas, learn from one another, and build meaningful connections.

As a highlight activity of the Linggo ng Kabataan (LNK) 2026 celebration and part of the International Youth Day Celebration, the convergence brought together young leaders from different sectors—student leaders, youth organization leaders, and Sangguniang Kabataan officials—to deepen their understanding of current youth issues, exchange perspectives, and inspire collaborative action.

Anchored on the theme “Different Contexts, Common Aspirations,” the convergence reminded us that while young people may come from different backgrounds and face different realities, we share common dreams and aspirations for a better future.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who made this event possible!

We are deeply grateful to our speakers—Ms. Cherry Mae L. Malate, Atty. Kimberly Cadayona, Kirtchz GV G. Catamisan, Louie Andrew Aligway, and Hon. Jhana Lyka Calixtro, and Ms. Anamarie Quisagan-Sanchez—for sharing their knowledge, experiences, and insights that inspired our young leaders to move from ideas to action.

As highlighted by the Keynote Address of Hon. Krizea Cassandra Mercadal " Alone, we can do so little. Together, we can do so much."

The 𝗬𝗢𝗨𝗧𝗛 𝗢𝗥𝗚𝗔𝗡𝗜𝗭𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡𝗦 𝗘𝗫𝗣𝗢 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 concluded as a 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝘂𝗰𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀 at 𝗦𝗠 𝗖𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗢𝗿𝗺𝗼𝗰. Anchored directly on this year's LNK official theme, “𝗗𝗶𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗲𝘅𝘁𝘀, 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗼𝗻 𝗔𝘀𝗽𝗶𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀,” the two-day gathering (August 12–13) powerfully demonstrated how young leaders from vastly diverse fields, backgrounds, and advocacies come together around a shared vision for positive community impact.

The busy halls of SM Center Ormoc came alive as youth groups showcased their passion, achievements, and volunteer opportunities through creative booth displays. Among the featured participating groups were the 𝗦𝗧𝗜 𝗢𝗿𝗺𝗼𝗰 – 𝗧𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗺 𝗗𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁, 𝗢𝗿𝗺𝗼𝗰 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵 𝗢𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗛𝘂𝗯, 𝗞𝗮𝗯𝗮𝘁𝗮𝗮𝗻 𝗞𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗮 𝗗𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗮 𝗮𝘁 𝗧𝗲𝗿𝗼𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗺𝗼, 𝗖𝗹𝗮𝗿𝗲𝘁 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵 𝗠𝗶𝗻𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘆, and the 𝗥𝗲𝗱 𝗖𝗿𝗼𝘀𝘀 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵 – 𝗢𝗿𝗺𝗼𝗰 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗽𝘁𝗲𝗿. Each booth beautifully highlighted the event's theme by bringing its own unique story, perspective, and context to the floor, while standing firmly united under the common aspiration of youth empowerment, active citizenship, and selfless service.

Evaluating the creativity, advocacy, and overall presentation of the displays was an esteemed board of judges featuring CYDO 𝗔𝗻𝗮𝗺𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗲 𝗤. 𝗦𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗵𝗲𝘇, 𝗛𝗼𝗻. 𝗞𝗿𝗶𝘇𝗲𝗮 𝗖𝗮𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗿𝗮 𝗠𝗲𝗿𝗰𝗮𝗱𝗮𝗹, and SK Federation President 𝗛𝗼𝗻. 𝗝𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗮 𝗟𝘆𝗸𝗮 𝗖𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘅𝘁𝗿𝗼.

[LOCAL NEWS] | Ormoc youth converge for International Youth Day ‘26

Every August 12, the world unites to celebrate International Youth Day. This year’s official theme is “Different Contexts, Common Aspirations."

In Ormoc City, an Ormoc Youth Convergence 2026 was held on August 12, at the New Liga Function Hall with the theme, “Innovate to Elevate: Transforming Visions into Impactful Solutions.” Together with the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) officials, the event brought together various youth organizations, school-based organizations, tertiary students, and the BBM barangay scholars.

The program opened with a keynote address by Hon. Krizea Mercadal, former SK Federation President and current Sangguniang Panlungsod Member, followed by the rationale presented by SK Federation President Hon. Jhana Lyka Calixtro.

To anchor the discussions, Ms. Cherry Mae Malate, PSO IV and Area Office Head of the National Youth Commission (NYC) Cebu Area Office, presented the “State of the Filipino Youth: National Situationer.” Ms. Ana Marie Sanchez, City Youth Development Officer II, then discussed “Youth Forward 2026,” focusing on youth health, digital literacy, and employment readiness.

Prior to the open forum, Atty. Kimberly Cadayona, Secretariat of the Ormoc City Justice Zone, shared legal insights during her talk, “Protecting the Next Gen: Your Safety Against OSAEC, CSAEM, and School Violence.”

During the event, Hon. Mercadal reminded the participants of their core mission: “The greater service that you can give is to offer your time, to offer your intellect, and to offer your own resource which is yourself.”

Reinforcing this call to action, Mr. Louie Andrew Aligway, member of the City Youth Development Council, challenged the youth to take immediate initiative: “Don't stick to the idea that we are the hope of the future. We must act now based on the future we envisioned—that’s the essence of becoming a part of the solution today.”

In the afternoon session, Mr. Kirchtz Catamisan, a BPA student at the City College of Ormoc and Lead Convenor of Project: CREATE, discussed youth-led initiatives through his talk, “From Paper to Actual: Model Pitch of a Successful Project.” This was followed by project pitching presentations and deliberations featuring innovative proposals from the Ormoc City Senior High School and the Red Cross Youth.

The week-long celebration continues on August 13, tomorrow, at the Mejia Covered Court with “BUHLIEV: Bridging Understanding for Healthier and Inspired Youth,” focusing on youth well-being and health awareness.

Further, this convergence wraps up on August 14 back at the New Liga Function Hall with “World of Work: Labor Education for Graduating Students,” an initiative designed to prepare graduating scholars and students for employment readiness and career transition.
