11 May 2026. Fueling Smiles in Brgy. Margen

On May 11, Brgy. Margen came alive with laughter, the smell of hot meals, and the energy of 100 kids who knew something special was happening.

The Kiwanis Club of Geo Ormoc rolled in for our food pack distribution, and thanks to the generosity of birthday celebrant, Mrs. Gretel Enero Sakurai and her sister, Mrs. Aibe Enero Fukuda, no child left hungry — or without a smile.

Each child received a complete pack designed to nourish both body and spirit:
Chicken rice meal with spaghetti – a hot, hearty lunch they could dig into right away; apples, fruit juice, ice cream on sugar cones, and cookies - that make the birthday treat special; multi-vitamins – because healthy kids grow into strong communities; and slippers for the kids and some mothers – small, practical, and deeply appreciated.

You could see it in their faces the moment we started giving out the foods - shy grins turned into wide smiles when they saw the ice cream. Older kids helped the younger ones carry their packs. Mothers who received slippers whispered “salamat” and immediately checked if it fit their kids first.

This is what Kiwanis is about: meeting immediate needs while reminding every child and parent that they matter. The food fills bellies today. The attention, the care, the presence of our sponsors and members — that fills hope for tomorrow.

To Mrs. Gretel and Mrs. Aibe, thank you for turning your generosity into tangible joy for 100 families in Brgy. Margen. To our volunteers who served, packed, and cheered — you are the hands and heart of this club.

One event. One barangay. 100 kids who now know their community hasn’t forgotten them.

Serving the children of the world, one meal, one smile, one act of kindness at a time.

Mother’s Day in Brgy. Danhug: Honoring the First Nurturers

9 May 2026. Kiwanis Club of Geo Ormoc turned the spotlight to the women who keep Brgy. Danhug’s children strong — the mothers of our feeding program beneficiaries.

While the kids lined up for their weekly meal, we paused to recognize the mothers who rise before dawn, stretch every peso, and put their children’s health and hope first. They are the quiet engine behind every child who walks into our feeding site with a fuller stomach and brighter eyes.

To honor their essential role as nurturers, we prepared small tokens that meet real needs:

Grocery packs to ease the daily burden at home; hygiene essentials for their dignity and health; and, quality pre-loved clothes – carefully sorted, clean, and wearable pieces that let mothers care for themselves while caring for everyone else.

One by one, we called their names, handed over the packs, and told them plainly: “We see you. What you do matters.” Some smiled shyly, others teared up. Most said the same thing: “Para sa akong mga anak.” For my children.

The feeding program feeds the children. But on this day, we fed the hearts of the women who make it possible.

To the mothers of Brgy. Danhug — thank you for nurturing the next generation of Ormocanons. Kiwanis sees your work, and we stand with you.

Bringing essential help to the underprivileged 48 families in remote mountain areas in Sitio Buayahan, Brgy Cambantog, Merida, Leyte, last April 26, 2026, is a critical mission/ longwalk that requires overcoming significant challenges.
This dedicated services is a partnership with Kiwanis Children's Fund and joined by the following clubs KC of Geo Ormoc headed by the very energetic President April Conui, KC of Digital Innovators headed by Kwn Jenny Marx Miranda Apit and Kwn Mark, KC of Calachuchi headed by Pres Lilibeth Pedoy Molina and the Circle K group from College/University.
We insures that families in isolated areas are not left behind, addressing needs in areas where infrastructure is often lacking due to rugged terrain.
Our journey to this remote barangay involves traversing difficult roads, rivers, requiring persistence and dedication to ensure help reaches those who are often isolated.
Our club, believe that this kind of work reflects a commitment to social justice and the belief that every family, regardless of their location deserves access to opportunities and dignified life...
Thank you to our valued donors of 50 egg trays from our incoming LG Bienjelyn Bench Barro and friends, chairs from various KC Geo members and some used clothing from Ms Maricel Laurente and other club members.
Our sincere gratitude also, to our ASPAC Vice-Chair Kwn Gigi Chaan Chu for the school supplies.

STEP UP with KIWANIS GEO-ORMOC: A 5-year year environment conservation program to mitigate climate change

Kiwanis Club of Geo-Ormoc partnered with Ormoc City Environment & Natural Resources and the student leaders at Cabintan National High School to execute the first tree-growing activity held in Brgy Cabintan on March 22, 2026.

STEP UP stands for Sustainable Trends for Environmental Protection Using Phytobiology. This is how Kiwanians of Geo-Ormoc address the foreseen problems on flooding and landslides in vulnerable areas in Ormoc City brought by climate change, deforestation and land development.

Phytobiology is a big word. It refers to the scientific study of plant life and development, encompassing various aspects like structure, growth, reproduction, and environmental interactions. Using phytobiology can significantly contribute to environmental protection by enhancing agricultural productivity; and, understanding their roles in ecosystems.

In the case of Bgry Cabintan, we planted “catmon trees” which is endemic to the area. The site assigned to us by City ENRO is the sloped area along the way to Lake Janagdan.

We believe that what we do for the environment today will pave a way for a better tomorrow for the children in the future!
