It was my honor to represent the House Committee on Higher Education at this morning’s special Board of Trustees meeting of the Northwestern Mindanao State College of Science and Technology (NMSCST) for the election of its next president.
Warmest congratulations to Dr. Reynaldo Manuel, Jr., former Schools Division Superintendent of Misamis Occidental, on being elected as the 4th President of NMSCST! 🎉
After two rigorous rounds of screening (involing several interviews), he emerged as the top-ranked candidate and earned the clear majority support of the Board—a testament to his leadership, experience, and vision for the institution.
As NMSCST moves closer to its long-awaited transition into a university, Dr. Manuel is poised to make history as its first university president. This milestone is in line with Section 9 of RA 11186, authored by then Congressman and now Governor Henry S. Oaminal, which provides that the incumbent college president shall serve as the first university president.
Exciting times ahead for NMSCST, Misamis Occidental, and the whole Northern Mindanao!
