On July 14, 2026, engineers from the DILG Zamboanga del Sur Project Development and Management Unit (PDMU), together with the Municipal Engineer of the Local Government Unit, conducted a site validation of the โ‚ฑ25-million Farm-to-Market Road Concreting Project under the FY 2026 LGSF-GEF in the Municipality of Tigbao, Zamboanga del Sur.

Following the site validation, a coordination meeting was conducted to discuss the observations from the validation and review the pre-implementation documentary requirements. The activity aimed to ensure project readiness and compliance with program guidelines for the successful implementation of the FY 2026 LGSF-GEF project.

The DILG Zamboanga del Sur successfully conducted its 7th Provincial Conference, featuring an interface with Regional Director Pablio L. Benitez, Jr., Ph.D., CESO V, and an orientation on the Barangay Gender and Development Plan and Budget Monitoring System (GPBMS) on July 21, 2026 at the DILG ZDS Conference Room, Dao, Pagadian City.

A highlight of the conference was the inspiring interface with Regional Director Pablio L. Benitez, Jr., Ph.D., CESO V, who shared the strategic policy directions, leadership insights, and practical guidance in addressing field-level challenges while reinforcing DILG's commitment to responsive, innovative, and results-driven
local governance.

The conference also featured important program updates, report submission status, a recognition initiative that celebrates exemplary employees for their dedication, integrity, and outstanding performance, and an Orientation on the Barangay Gender and Development Plan and Budget Monitoring System (GPBMS) to strengthen gender-responsive planning, budgeting, and monitoring at the barangay level.

This milestone reflects DILG Zamboanga del Sur's continued commitment to strengthening its workforce, enhancing organizational performance, and advancing responsive local governance through collaboration, professionalism, and excellence in public service.

On July 16, 2026, the DILG Zamboanga del Sur Project Development and Management Unit (PDMU), together with MLGOO Dishie Ramos-Lauron of the DILG Tigbao Field Office, conducted monitoring and validation of the FY 2026 LGSF-GEF Rice Distribution Project in Tigbao.

The activity was conducted in close coordination with the LGU functionaries. Eligible beneficiaries received 10 kilos of rice each in accordance with program guidelines.

Through continuous monitoring and validation, the DILG Zamboanga del Sur PDMU remains committed to promoting transparency, accountability, and the efficient implementation of government-funded projects.

The Provincial Government of Zamboanga del Sur, in partnership with the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Zamboanga del Sur Provincial Office and the National Anti-Poverty Commission (NAPC), successfully conducted the Provincial Poverty Reduction Action Plan (PPRAP) Formulation Workshop on July 8โ€“9, 2026, at the Pavilion Hall, Provincial Government Center, Dao, Pagadian City.

The two-day workshop was technically facilitated by NAPC, led by Deputy Director General Usec. Esnaen M. Catong, together with its key officers and staff, who guided the participants in formulating the Provincial Poverty Reduction Action Plan through the consolidation of the Local Poverty Reduction Action Plans (LPRAPs) of the municipalities and component city.

Participating in the workshop were the 27 Municipal/City Poverty Reduction Action Plan (C/MPRAP) Secretariat Heads, designated by their respective Local Chief Executives, and the 27 City/Municipal Local Government Operations Officers (C/MLGOOs). The workshop served as a vital platform for harmonizing local priorities, identifying key poverty reduction interventions, and ensuring that the Provincial Poverty Reduction Action Plan reflects the development needs and aspirations of communities across Zamboanga del Sur.

The DILG Zamboanga del Sur Provincial Office, headed by Provincial Director Dave M. Barrot, reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening local governance by supporting collaborative and evidence-based planning initiatives that promote inclusive and sustainable development.

The successful conduct of the workshop underscores the strong collaboration among the Provincial Government of Zamboanga del Sur, NAPC, DILG, and the local government units in advancing participatory planning and developing responsive strategies toward sustainable poverty reduction and improved quality of life for the people of Zamboanga del Sur.

DILG Zamboanga del Sur Calibrates for Excellence

The DILG Zamboanga del Sur Provincial Office, under the leadership of Provincial Director Dave M. Barrot, successfully conducted the Provincial Management Review on July 17, 2026, via Google Meet.

The session commenced with a comprehensive Office Performance Commitment and Review (OPCR) for the first semester, allowing the team to thoroughly evaluate mid-year achievements, analyze missed targets, and formulate strategic interventions to address performance gaps. Concurrently, a review of an awarding system was carried out to acknowledge personnel who continuously provide high-quality delivery of PPAs across the province. Moreover, the team finalized key administrative details and synchronized coordination efforts for the upcoming 7th Provincial Conference and interfacing session with Regional Director Pablio L. Benitez, Jr. PhD, CESO V.

Armed with fresh operational insights and aligned targets, the DILG Zamboanga del Sur remains steadfast in its mandate for a stronger, more accountable, and more resilient governance.

DILG Zamboanga del Sur - Project Development and Management Unit (PDMU) Evaluates โ‚ฑ25 Million Projects under Local Government Support Fund - Growth Equity Fund (LGSF-GEF) FY 2026 in the Municipalities of Guipos, Vincenzo A. Sagun, Sominot and Josefina

On July 8-9, 2026, the DILG Zamboanga del Sur PDMU Engineers, alongside with local officials, Municipal Engineering Office and Municipal Planning and Development Office, conducted site validations of four (4) major infrastructure projects under FY 2026 LGSF-GEF.

The inspections covered the following projects, each worth โ‚ฑ25 Million:

โ€ขExpansion/Improvement of Water System Level III - Guipos
โ€ขConcreting of Farm-to-Market Road - Vincenzo A. Sagun
โ€ขConcreting of Farm-to-Market Road - Sominot
โ€ขConcreting of Farm-to-Market Road - Josefina

โ€‹The field evaluation verified the suitability of the proposed sites and water sources, assessing the present road conditions and ensuring the projects directly align with the needs of the target beneficiaries. The team captured geo-tagged photos and reviewed the initial Detailed Engineering Design (DED) and Program of Works (POW).

Following the site validation, a coordination meeting was held to discuss the observations from the project site validation and outline the pre-implementation documentary requirements, ensuring all projects are fully compliant and ready for implementation.

A new chapter of learning begins.

The DILG-Zamboanga del Sur Provincial Office officially welcomed three (3) Batch 60 LGOO Apprentices as they commenced Component II โ€“ Supervised Field Work (SFW) of the LGOO II and III Apprenticeship Program during the Monday Flag Raising Ceremony on July 6, 2026.

The apprentices were warmly received by Provincial Director Dave M. Barrot, together with the Provincial Office personnel, Cluster Heads, and their designated SFW Supervisorsโ€”LGOO VI Philip B. Cuevas, LGOO VI Catherine B. Daan, and LGOO VI Jerome Loyd M. Ogawanโ€”marking the beginning of their 77-day field immersion where classroom learning is translated into meaningful public service and actual local governance practice.

Throughout their field immersion, the apprentices will be guided and mentored by their respective SFW Supervisors as they gain valuable hands-on experience and a deeper understanding of local governance through practical field exposure.
