| Farmer-Level Training on Integrated Pest Management (IPM) Batch 1
The ATI-RTC IX, in partnership with the Philippine Coconut Authority (PCA)-Basilan, successfully conducted the Farmer-Level Training on Integrated Pest Management (IPM) Batch 1 on August 3–5, 2026, at Buenavida Farm, Tubigan, Maluso, Province of Basilan.
The three-day training brought together coconut farmers from the Municipality of Maluso and neighboring communities to enhance their knowledge and skills in integrated pest management, with the goal of improving coconut productivity and supporting the sustainable development of the coconut industry.
Ms. Sherina H. Andres of PCA-Basilan discussed the Coconut Industry Situationer and an Overview of the Coconut Farmers and Industry Development Program (CFIDP); Mr. Jacky S. Piang discussed The Coconut: Physiology, Morphology, and Growth Stages while Ms. Samsiya T. Munjalal discussed Coconut Varieties and Seednut Selection and the Identification and Prevention of Common Insect Pests and Diseases of Coconut. The training concluded with Ms. Carmen S. Jamahali's lecture on Coconut Pests and Diseases Management, equipping participants with practical strategies for protecting coconut plantations and promoting sustainable coconut production in Basilan.
