𝙇𝙊𝙊𝙆 | 𝘿𝙀𝙉𝙍 𝙋𝙊𝙒 𝙕𝙖𝙢𝙗𝙤𝙖𝙣𝙜𝙖 𝘾𝙞𝙩𝙮 𝙆𝙞𝙘𝙠𝙨 𝙊𝙛𝙛 𝙬𝙞𝙩𝙝 𝟐𝟓 𝘾𝙡𝙞𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙨 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝟔 𝘼𝙥𝙥𝙧𝙤𝙫𝙚𝙙 𝙋𝙚𝙧𝙢𝙞𝙩𝙨 𝙤𝙣 𝘿𝙖𝙮 𝙊𝙣𝙚!

The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Environmental Management Bureau (EMB) Region IX officially launched its DENR Express Permitting on Wheels (POW) at CityMall Tetuan, Zamboanga City, bringing environmental permitting services closer to stakeholders through faster and more accessible frontline service.

On its opening day, the activity catered to 56 clients representing 79 establishments, receiving a total of 25 permit applications across various environmental permit categories. Of these, six (6) permits were approved on-site, while the remaining applications are currently being processed.

The applications received included 8 Certificates of Non-Coverage (CNC), 7 Wastewater Discharge Permits (WDP), 3 Environmental Compliance Certificates (ECC), 3 Permits to Operate (PTO), 2 Hazardous Waste Generator (HWG) IDs, and 2 Pollution Control Officer (PCO) accreditations. On-site approvals consisted of 2 Permits to Operate (PTO), 2 Pollution Control Officer (PCO) accreditations, 1 Certificate of Non-Coverage (CNC), and 1 Hazardous Waste Generator (HWG) ID.

The opening program featured messages from the local Government of Zamboanga City represented by For. Gerry Polisco, Chief OCENER and regional officials, including EMB Region IX Regional Director Atty. Abbas I. Lao, DENR IX Regional Executive Director Marie Angelique Go, and MGB IX Chief Engr. Ramil B. Mundo. Attendees also participated in information sessions on EMB's online permitting systems, hazardous waste management, chemical management, pollution control services, and other frontline environmental programs.

Complementing the event was an on-site exhibit showcasing environmental initiatives and services from Permex Producers Inc., CENRO Zamboanga City, EMB Region IX, and ZC E and L Corporation, providing visitors with valuable information on environmental protection, regulatory compliance, and sustainable practices.

The DENR Express Permitting on Wheels continues on July 28, 2026, from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, at CityMall Tetuan, Zamboanga City, reaffirming EMB Region IX's commitment to delivering efficient, accessible, and client-centered public service.

The latest ambient air quality monitoring results from EMB Region IX show that air quality at both monitoring stations remains GOOD, indicating that the air is satisfactory and poses little or no health risk to the public.

📍 WMSU San Ramon Campus (PMS): PM₂.₅ – 12 | PM₁₀ – 12 (Good)
📍 ADZU Junior High School, Tumaga (DOAS): PM₂.₅ – 6 | PM₁₀ – 3 (Good)

Please note: The Particulate Monitoring Station (PMS) and Differential Optical Absorption Spectroscopy (DOAS) equipment are designed to monitor stationary sources of air pollution and ambient air quality. These monitoring systems do not measure emissions from mobile sources, such as motor vehicles.
