PAGADIAN CITY, Zamboanga del Sur โ€” The Philippine Crop Insurance Corporation (PCIC) Regional Office 9 turned over indemnity payments to assured farmers here as part of the Nationwide Handog ng Pangulo: Serbisyong Sapat para sa Lahat, held on September 14, 2026, at the Mega Gym, Provincial Government Complex, Dao, Pagadian City, Zamboanga Del Sur.

Twenty farmers with insured rice and corn from Labangan, Dumalinao, and Dinas received a total of โ‚ฑ122,794.30 indemnity claims during the event.๐ŸŒพ๐ŸŒฝ

USEC Harold Cabreros, Administrator of the Office of Civil Defense and Executive Director of NDRRMC attended the activity together with regional directors of various government agencies, including PCIC Region 9 Regional Manager Virgie A. Baroy, CPA.

The Handog ng Pangulo was held simultaneously across other parts of the Zamboanga Peninsula and Misamis Occidental, bringing the total indemnity released to 57 farmers to โ‚ฑ289,539.43. Zamboanga Sibugay recorded 10 farmer-beneficiaries who received โ‚ฑ32,798.13; Zamboanga del Norte, 8 farmers with โ‚ฑ30,132.00; Misamis Occidental, 9 farmers with โ‚ฑ57,125.00; and Zamboanga City, 10 farmers with โ‚ฑ46,690.00.

The nationwide activity forms part of the government's continuing effort to bring frontline services directly to communities, with PCIC's participation highlighting its mandate to protect farmers from production losses caused by natural calamities, pests, and diseases.

PAGADIAN CITY, Zamboanga del Sur โ€” The Philippine Crop Insurance Corporation (PCIC) Regional Office IX held its Mid-Year Assessment and Planning Conference on September 1, 2026, at Guillermo Hotel, Pagadian City.

The conference brought together PCIC RO9 employees to review the officeโ€™s accomplishments during the first half of the year and discuss plans for the remaining months of 2026.

In her opening remarks, Regional Manager II Virgie A. Baroy emphasized the importance of being honest and open in assessing the officeโ€™s performance. ๐ŸŽฏ๐ŸŒฑ

โ€œAn assessment that avoids difficult matters serves no one,โ€ she said, encouraging employees to openly discuss challenges and areas that need improvement.

Each division then presented its updates, including accomplishments, concerns, and plans to help the regional office meet its targets. Discussions covered insurance operations, claims payments, financial matters, information technology, and other office activities.

The conference also included updates on digital payment channels such as GCash and Palawan for indemnity payments, as well as IT improvements aimed at making PCIC services more convenient.

PAGADIAN CITY, Zamboanga del Sur โ€” A total of 110 farmers from Dinas, Zamboanga del Sur received 115 indemnity checks amounting to โ‚ฑ433,534.87 from the Philippine Crop Insurance Corporation (PCIC) Regional Office IX on August 24โ€“25, 2026.

The checks were released at the PCIC RO9 office in Pagadian City and were facilitated by the officeโ€™s teller and administrative staff.

Most of the claims were for corn crops damaged by pests and diseases. Other claims included high-value crops and fisheries, particularly seaweed.

The farmers expressed their gratitude for the assistance, which will help them recover from their losses and continue their livelihood.

PCIC RO9 personnel also took the opportunity to remind farmers about the Accident and Dismemberment Security Scheme (ADSS) and other available insurance programs.

PCIC RO9 continues to encourage farmers to use digital payment options such as GCash and PalawanPay/Palawan Express, where available, to make receiving indemnity payments easier and more convenient.

ZAMBOANGA DEL NORTE โ€” The Philippine Crop Insurance Corporation (PCIC) Regional Office IX released a total of โ‚ฑ3,043,677.73 in indemnity payments to 914 farmers in Siayan, Godod, and Salug, Zamboanga del Norte, on Aug. 19โ€“20, 2026, as compensation for crop damage caused by pests, diseases, and natural calamities.

In Siayan, 514 farmers received a total of P1,935,976.52 in indemnity payments. In Godod, 197 farmers received โ‚ฑ642,728.39, while 203 farmers in Salug received a total of โ‚ฑ464,972.82.

The distribution activities were held in each of the three municipalities, with their respective Municipal Agriculturists and representatives, joined by PCIC personnel from the Administrative and Finance Division, Myra Claire S. Dalogdog, Jelica Jane D. Cabaral and Darwin Camingao, Field Personnel from Marketing and Sales Division.

The distribution was part of PCIC Regional Office IX's continuing initiative to facilitate the timely payment of indemnities to insured farmers affected by crop losses.

PCIC also encouraged farmer-beneficiaries to adopt digital payment options, including GCash and Palawan Express, as part of the agency's efforts to modernize the delivery of indemnity payments.

The use of digital payment channels is expected to provide farmers with a faster, more convenient, and efficient way of receiving their indemnification.

The initiative also seeks to streamline the payment process and improve farmers' access to crop insurance benefits, particularly following crop losses that can affect their livelihoods and ability to sustain agricultural production.

Through the timely release of indemnities and the promotion of digital payment options, PCIC Regional Office IX reaffirmed its commitment to providing responsive and accessible crop insurance services to farmers in Zamboanga del Norte.

In accordance with Proclamation No. 1006, s.2025, August 31, 2026 (Monday) shall be observed as National Heroes Day, a regular national holiday commemorating the bravery and sacrifices of Filipino heroes who contributed to the nationโ€™s history and freedom.

In view of these holidays, PCIC RO9 including its Provincial Extension Offices (PEOs) in Molave, Sindangan, Ipil and Zamboanga City, office operations will be suspended on August 26, 2026 (Wednesday), and August 31, 2026 (Monday).

Regular operations shall resume on the next working day following each holiday.

Last August 13, 2026, ang atong Philippine Crop Insurance Corporation (PCIC) Regional Office 9 officials gibisita ug gi interview sa Juander Radyo 107.1 aron ipaambit ang mga accomplishments sa insurance program ug claims paid sa atong rehiyon:

โœ… โ‚ฑ88.58 MILLION na indemnity gibayad
โœ… 22,370 farmers na ang naka-receive og claims
โœ… Rice ug corn ang nag-una nga natabangan

Sa interview, gipaklaro ni Regional Manager Virgie A. Baroy nga naa gihapon budget para sa FREE INSURANCE โ€” so mga kaigsoonan, ayaw na mag duha-duha, i-insure na ang inyong crops, non-crop assets, ug livestock!

Gipasabot pud ni OIC-Marketing and Sales Division Isagani Templanza III ang mga bag-ong mode of payment para mas sayon ang pagbayad sa mga kadaot ngadto sa mga na insured nga mga tanom ug hayupan.

Ug si Claims Adjustment Division Chief Edilberto Dondoyano naghatag og pagtagad sa proseso sa claims, ilabina sa livestock, aron mas mapa dali ang pagbayad sa mga apektado nga mag-uuma ug nga naghayupan.
