1. ๐Œ๐š๐ฎ๐ฅ๐—ถ๐—ฑ ๐—จ๐—ป ๐๐š๐›๐ข (๐๐ข๐ซ๐ญ๐ก๐๐š๐ฒ ๐จ๐Ÿ ๐๐ซ๐จ๐ฉ๐ก๐ž๐ญ ๐Œ๐ฎ๐ก๐š๐ฆ๐ฆ๐š๐)
In reference to Presidential Decree No. 1083, August 26, 2026 (Wednesday) is recognized as a Muslim Legal Holiday in observance of Maulid Un Nabi or the Birthday of Prophet Muhammad.

The said Muslim holiday shall be officially observed in the provinces of North Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat, Basilan, Sulu, Tawi-Tawi, Maguindanao Provinces, Lanao del Sur, Lanao del Norte, Zamboanga del Sur, Zamboanga del Norte, Zamboanga Sibugay, and in the cities of Kidapawan, Tacurong, Marawi, Pagadian, Iligan, and Cotabato City.

2. ๐๐š๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง๐š๐ฅ ๐‡๐ž๐ซ๐จ๐ž๐ฌ ๐ƒ๐š๐ฒ
In accordance with Proclamation No. 1006, s.2025, August 31, 2026 (Monday) shall be observed as National Heroes Day, a regular national holiday commemorating the bravery and sacrifices of Filipino heroes who contributed to the nationโ€™s history and freedom.

In view of these holidays, PCIC RO9 including its Provincial Extension Offices (PEOs) in Molave, Sindangan, Ipil and Zamboanga City, office operations will be suspended on August 26, 2026 (Wednesday), and August 31, 2026 (Monday).

Regular operations shall resume on the next working day following each holiday.

Through agricultural insurance, farmer and fisherfolkโ€™s livelihood is protected against natural calamities, pests and diseases.

This was emphasized by Regional Office 9 Marketing and Sales Officer-in-Charge
Isagani Templanza III to participants of the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) Economic and Financial Learning Program (EFLP) for the Agriculture Sector. The program was held from June 3โ€“4, 2026, at the Palacio del Sur, Zamboanga City.

"Agricultural insurance is not an expenseโ€”it is a safety net that allows our farmers and fisherfolk to recover, replant, and rebuild after a disaster strikes," Templanza said.

Templanza walked participants through the range of PCIC products, including insurance for rice, corn, and high-value crops, livestock and fisheries. He discussed the perils covered under each programโ€”from typhoons, flood, and drought to pest infestation and disease outbreaksโ€”and explained the premium subsidy scheme that makes coverage more accessible to smallholder farmers.

Moreover, he discussed the step-by-step claims process, from reporting a loss to receiving indemnity payment, and shared real examples of how quickly claims can be settled when documentation is complete.

President Marcos highlights importance of agricultural insurance during 2026 SONA

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. underscored the importance of agricultural insurance and PCICโ€™s role in protecting farmers and fisherfolk during his fifth State of the Nation Address (SONA) on July 27, 2026.

President Marcos said:

โ€œGayumpaman, ang insurance ay nagsisilbing mabisang panangga laban sa pagkalugi dala ng pagkawala o pagkasira sa hindi inaasahang pangyayari.

Sa nakalipas na apat na taon, natulungan ang sektor upang mabawi ang halaga ng pinsala sa hanapbuhay, na umabot sa labing-siyam na bilyong pisong halaga ng kabayaran.

Ang crop insurance ngayon ay hindi limitado sa mga pananim. Kasama sa saklaw nito ang mga alagang hayop, palaisdaan, mga gamit at pasilidad, pati sasakyan na pang-agrikultura. Mayroon ding life insurance para sa mismong magsasaka at mangingisda.

Papalawigin pa ng Philippine Crop Insurance Corporation at DA ang kaalaman ng mga magsasaka at mangingisda tungkol sa crop insurance.โ€

President Marcos, DOF recognize PCIC at the 2026 GOCCsโ€™ Day

The PCIC was recognized for its contribution to national development and its efforts to bring government services closer to the public during the 2026 GOCCsโ€™ Day held on July 8, 2026.

PCIC President Jovy Bernabe received two Certificates of Recognition from President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and the Department of Finance. The first recognized PCICโ€™s remittance of more than โ‚ฑ114.32 Million in dividends to the National Government, while the second cited its participation in the GOCCโ€™s Service Caravan, held from June 29 to 30, 2026, in Cagayan de Oro City.

โ€œToday, as we commemorate the 2026 GOCCsโ€™ Day, we honor the institutions that have long served as vital partners in nation-building,โ€ President Marcos said. โ€œFor decades now, our GOCCs have stood as paragons of progress, equity, and opportunity.โ€

The President noted that under Republic Act No. 7656, or the Dividend Law, GOCCs are required to declare and remit at least 50% of their annual net earnings as dividends to the National Government.

โ€œEvery peso that you have remitted strengthens the governmentโ€™s capacity to deliver better services without imposing additional tax burdens on ordinary Filipinos,โ€ he said.

President Marcos also commended the GOCC sector for its sound governance and fiscal responsibility, which contributed to total dividend remittances of more than โ‚ฑ139.8 Billion this year.

Amid these accomplishments, the President reminded GOCCs to remain steadfast in their public service mandate.

โ€œProfit is never the end in itself; it is just a means to better serve our people,โ€ President Marcos said.

Joining Atty. Bernabe at the event were Luzon Farmersโ€™ Sector Representative to the PCIC Board Gerardo Soliman and Senior Vice President Segundo Guerrero Jr.

The recognitions reflect PCICโ€™s continued commitment to supporting national development, promoting sound financial stewardship, and delivering accessible and responsive agricultural insurance services to Filipino farmers and fisherfolk across the country.
