Anchored on the theme "Pinalakas na Ugnayan at Pagkakaisa sa Pagsulong ng IHL," the 9th Regional Community Defense Group (9RCDG), Reserve Command, Philippine Army joined the nation in observing the 77th Commemoration of International Humanitarian Law (IHL) through a simultaneous nationwide flag-raising ceremony held yesterday, August 3, 2026 at Kuta Dao, Pagadian City.

The solemn and purposeful ceremony at Kuta Dao was led by 9RCDG Group Commander Colonel Arnold L. Gasalatan.

Demonstrating unified leadership across the command, Deputy Group Commander, Col. Alfred E. Ramones shared the vital message of the Acting Commanding General, Philippine Army, Lieutenant General Donald M. Gumiran. Following this, Col. Gasalatan delivered the official message of the Chief of Staff, Armed Forces of the Philippines, General Antonio G. Nafarrete. The addresses powerfully reaffirmed the Armed Forces' unshakeable dedication to upholding International Humanitarian Law, protecting civilian lives during all circumstances, and steadfastly promoting peace, security, and the rule of law.

The commemorative event was marked by strong inter-unit solidarity, attended not only by the personnel of 9RCDG but also by key post units stationed in Kuta Dao, including the 901st Community Defense Center, 1st CMO Battalion and the 547th Engineer Battalion.

Demonstrating an unwavering commitment to a capable, disciplined, and mission-ready Reserve Force, the Cadre of Leadership Orientation Training (CLOT) successfully concluded its Final Evaluation, Assessment, and Closing Ceremony on August 1, 2026, at the 902CDC Headquarters in Manukan, Zamboanga del Norte.

Spearheaded by the 1st Infantry Division (1ID) through Col. Ian Noel P. Ignes, Assistant Division Commander for Reservist and Retiree Affairs, 1ID, PA, the rigorous training program successfully produced 25 Officers (including five Reservists) and 195 Enlisted Personnel (including 125 Reservists). Notably, the trainees completed the intensive course side-by-side, strengthening the integration of the regular and reserve forces.

The momentous closing ceremony was graced by key military leaders and civilian stakeholders, including Col. Arnold L. Gasalatan, Training Director and Group Commander, 9RDG; Col. Mandy T. Libertino, Director, 902CDC; Lt.Col. Jessie G. Bergonia, Commanding Officer, 97th Infantry Battalion; Major Lorefel O. Judaya, Course Director; and the 1ID Evaluation Team led by Major Gicky B. Galindo. Personnel from various maneuver units of the 1st Infantry "Tabak" Division also participated via video teleconference.

Dr. Alfonso T. Rocha Ph.D, NSTP Director of the Jose Rizal Memorial State University Systemโ€”who also serves as a Reserve Force Lt.Col. and Executive Officer, 203rd Ready Reserve Infantry Brigadeโ€”honored the event as Guest of Honor and Speaker. In his inspiring keynote address, Dr. Rocha underscored CLOT's vital role in shaping competent military leaders and responsible citizen-soldiers, challenging the graduates to carry forward the values of discipline, professionalism, and patriotism far beyond the training grounds.

The activity fittingly concluded with a traditional boodle fight, sealing a powerful symbol of unity, camaraderie, and the enduring partnership between the Reserve and Regular Forces as they stand ever-ready to serve the Filipino people.

In an uncompromising stand for cadet safety, discipline, and principled leadership, 9RCDG Group Commander Col. Arnold L. Gasalatan conducted an official site visit yesterday, August 1, 2026, to the Southern Capital Colleges ROTC Unit, Oroquieta City, Misamis Occidental.

Upon arrival, Col. Gasalatan was warmly received by the unitโ€™s training staff, headed by the SCC ROTCU Commandant, Major Marc Anthony S. Aclo, alongside the corps of advanced cadets led by Cadet Fidel L. Bugarso 1Cl, Corps Commander.
