A celebration of achievement, resilience, and dreams unfolded as Cabatuan National High School successfully held its 9th Graduation and Moving-Up Exercises, bringing together graduates, completers, faculty, parents, and distinguished guests in a heartfelt ceremony last March 30, 2026 at the school cultural ground, marking the culmination of the School Year 2025โ€“2026

The momentous occasion began with a Thanksgiving Mass at St. Anthony De Padua Church at exactly 3:00 PM, where students and attendees offered prayers of gratitude for the guidance and blessings received throughout their academic journey. The solemnity of the mass set a reflective tone, preparing everyone for the meaningful rites ahead.

Following the mass was the processional march, featuring the graduates and completers clad in their togas, alongside the faculty and staff of Cabatuan National High School. They were joined by the Assistant Schools Division Superintendent and the invited guest speaker, forming a dignified procession that symbolized the transition of students into a new chapter of their lives.

The formal program commenced with the entrance of colors, led by the Boy Scouts of the Philippines, instilling a sense of patriotism and pride. This was followed by an invocation delivered by Maโ€™am Lynnie Alican, setting a solemn and hopeful atmosphere. The singing of the Division Hymn and the Bagong Pilipinas Hymn echoed throughout the venue, uniting the audience in shared aspirations for a better future.

A recital of the Department of Education Quality Policy, led by Maโ€™am Hanzel Acquiat, reaffirmed the institutionโ€™s commitment to providing quality education. The welcome remarks were then delivered by Class Salutatorian Cherry Mae Capoquian, who graduated with highest honors. In her speech, she expressed gratitude and reflected on the collective journey of Batch 2026.

Subsequently, Maโ€™am Cecilia Doria, Principal-in-Charge of Palapag 1 District, read the message of the Secretary of Education, emphasizing the importance of continuous learning and perseverance in achieving success.

One of the highlights of the ceremony was the presentation of candidates for graduation and completion, where Cabatuan National High School proudly announced 48 graduates and 47 completers for this academic year. The candidates were formally confirmed by Assistant Schools Division Superintendent Sir Rey Bulawan of the Division of Northern Samar.

In his message, Sir Bulawan introduced the upcoming โ€œStrengthened Senior High Schoolโ€ program, giving students and parents a glimpse of what to expect in the next academic year. He also commended the school for its exceptional performance in various competitions, particularly in the Division Schools Press Conference (DSPC). โ€œMalakas kayo sa DSPC, even though maliit lang ang school niyo pero ang dami niyong panalo sa DSPC,โ€ he remarked, recognizing the schoolโ€™s remarkable achievements despite its size.

Following his address, Maโ€™am Cherie Tendoy formally introduced the guest speaker, Ms. Daina Lec Pajanostan, RFP, a proud alumna of Cabatuan National High School. In her inspiring speech, Ms. Pajanostan emphasized the transformative power of education and the importance of dreaming beyond oneโ€™s circumstances. โ€œMahirap maging mahirap, pero mas mahirap maging mahirap na walang pangarap,โ€ she shared, leaving a profound impact on the graduates and completers as she encouraged them to persevere despite challenges.

The ceremony continued with heartfelt messages of gratitude from the students. Eunice Gonzaga, a completer with high honors, delivered her speech, followed by Class Valedictorian Yeoj Ivan Giray, who also graduated with highest honors. In his address, Giray inspired his fellow graduates with his powerful message: โ€œDo not limit your dreams. Do not be afraid to take the risk. Because sometimes, the most amazing journey starts when you simply say โ€˜yesโ€™ to an opportunity.โ€ His words resonated deeply with the audience, reflecting the spirit of courage and ambition among the graduates.

The awarding of medals and diplomas followed, recognizing the academic excellence and hard work of the students. Proud parents and teachers witnessed the long-awaited moment as graduates and completers received their honors and certificates.

Adding an emotional touch to the program, the graduates and completers sang their graduation song, โ€œSaranggola,โ€ symbolizing enduring friendships despite the different paths they will take in the future. This was followed by the pledge of loyalty to their alma mater, led by Juan Colima, a student with high honors.

A touching tribute to parents was then presented through the song โ€œEverything I Own,โ€ expressing gratitude for their unwavering support and sacrifices. The ceremony also recognized outstanding students from Grades 7, 8, 9, and 11, highlighting the schoolโ€™s continuous commitment to excellence across all levels.

The program concluded with closing remarks from school principal, Mrs. Flora C. Alican.

My name is Shaila Nina Mejos, and this is the story of my Grade 8 breakthrough.
This year, I proudly represented Cabatuan National High School at the Division Science, Technology, and Mathematics Fair (DSTMF) for the Science Quiz Bee.

The preparation was not easy. There were days of intense reviews after class. Afternoons were spent answering practice questions. Weekends were dedicated to studying instead of resting. And many nights, I stayed up late, fighting sleep just to understand one more lesson, solve one more problem, and master one more concept.
Whenever I felt tired, my coach, Maโ€™am Jhennifer Laoreno, would remind me:
โ€œNo pain, no gain.โ€

Those words stayed in my heart. They pushed me to work harder, to stay disciplined, and to believe that every sacrifice would soon be worth it.
When the competition day came, I gave everything I had. When the scores were revealed, I earned 72 out of 96, ranking 2nd. Another contestant had the same score, so we shared Rank 2.

It was a proud momentโ€”not just for me, but for Cabatuan National High School. And that second place opened a bigger opportunity.
I qualified for the National Science and Math Quest.

The national competition was held in Baguio Cityโ€”the City of Pines. Representing my school on a national stage felt overwhelming, exciting, and unforgettable.

But the journey was not without challenges. We faced financial struggles. There were moments of doubt and uncertainty. Yet despite everything, my parents chose to send meโ€”not just to compete, but to experience something greater than our situation. Their sacrifice became my strength.
Standing in Baguio, surrounded by brilliant contestants from different regions, I reminded myself of all the nights I stayed awake reviewing. All the notes I rewrote. All the prayers I whispered.
During the competition, every question felt heavierโ€”but I fought through it.

When the final scores were announced, I earned 24 out of 30, placing 4th in the National Science and Math Quest.

Not first.
Not second.
But fourth in the nation.
And after all the reviews, sleepless nights, and sacrificesโ€”it felt like victory.

This journey was never just about defeating others. It was about defeating doubt.
Every late night taught me discipline.
Every sacrifice taught me gratitude.
Every challenge strengthened my faith.
And I learned something powerful:
Success is not built overnight.
It is built on effort, sacrifice, and the courage to keep going.

I am Shaila Nina Mejosโ€”a Grade 8 student who learned that greatness does not come without effort.
โ€œNo pain, no gain.โ€
Those words are no longer just advice. They are part of who I am.
And this is only the beginning. โœจ

Shaila Nina Mejos of Cabatuan National High School secured 4th place in the Science 8 Quiz Bee during the National Science Quest held in Baguio City last February 13-15, 2026. Being one of the representatives of the Northern Samar Division, Mejos competed against top student delegates from across the country in the three-day national competition. She was coached by Ms. Jennifer Laoreno, whose guidance helped prepare her for the prestigious academic event.
