LOOK: 4-Day Mobile Registration and Licensing Services in Catbalogan City
From June 2–5, 2026, MARINA ROVIII brought its Mobile Vessel and Crew Registration, Documentation, and Licensing program to Catbalogan City, Samar. The initiative drew strong participation, with vessel operators and crew members taking advantage of the on‑site services.
A total of 47 vessels were registered comprising 21 cargo motorbancas and 26 fishing vessels. Meanwhile, 50 crew members were issued licenses, consisting of 28 boat captains and 22 motormen.
Beyond registration and licensing services, the program strengthened awareness of maritime safety and regulatory compliance while equipping participants with the knowledge needed for safer and more responsible operations at sea, including documentation requirements and maritime safety standards, with emphasis on the proper handling of women, children, senior citizens, and persons with disabilities aboard motorbancas.
The activity likewise marked a partnership with Samar State University through a Memorandum of Agreement for the pilot demonstration of a localized vessel tracking system, supporting innovation and collaboration.
For years, MARINA has been bringing its services closer to maritime communities and aims to reach even more vessel owners and crew members to strengthen compliance and move toward safer, fully regulated operations at sea.
