𝐏𝐄𝐑𝐒𝐔𝐀𝐒𝐈𝐕𝐄𝐍𝐄𝐒𝐒 — the ability to influence thoughts, beliefs, and actions through effective communication.

𝐅𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞 6𝐭𝐡 𝐭𝐞𝐚𝐦 𝐜𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐚𝐛 𝐦𝐞𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐫𝐞𝐯𝐢𝐞𝐰, the Learning and Development Section (LDS) insightfully shared about PERSUASIVENESS in the workplace during the brown bag session last 6 July 2026.

The discussion highlighted ways to practice such quality in the workplace by:
1. Building trust and positive relationships with colleagues, clients, and stakeholders;
2. Being mindful of how we communicate and interact with others;
3. Speaking with confidence and conviction; and
4. Demonstrating integrity and credibility to earn trust and influence others.

𝐒𝐓𝐔𝐃𝐄𝐍𝐓 𝐓𝐑𝐀𝐈𝐍𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐏𝐑𝐎𝐆𝐑𝐀𝐌 - The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office VIII proudly recognizes the five student trainees from ACLC College of Tacloban who successfully completed their 600-hour and 486-hour On-the-Job Training (OJT) from 16 February to 30 June 2026.

The trainees, composed of three Bachelor of Science in Information Technology students and two Bachelor of Science in Business Administration Major in Human Resource Management students, were assigned to different sections and offices across the agency. Throughout their rendered training hours, they were immersed in different office operations, providing them with valuable learning experiences that will be beneficial in their future endeavors in their respective fields.

As part of the Student Training Program, the student trainees also shared their experiences and learnings during the Exit Conference with the Student Training Program Focal, Ms. Maevelyn O. Macato.

The Certificates of Completion were awarded by Regional Director Dir. Grace Q. Subong and Human Resource Management and Development Division Chief Ms. Ann Ritzel C. Caragos during the Flag Raising Ceremony held on 6 July 2026 at the DSWD Field Office VIII Grounds in Candahug, Palo, Leyte.

𝐂𝐘𝐁𝐄𝐑𝐒𝐄𝐂𝐔𝐑𝐈𝐓𝐘 𝐀𝐖𝐀𝐑𝐄𝐍𝐄𝐒𝐒 𝐂𝐀𝐌𝐏𝐀𝐈𝐆𝐍 - As part of the 2026 Cybersecurity Awareness Campaign, the Learning and Development Section (LDS), in coordination with the Information and Communications Technology Section (ICTMS), successfully conducted the third learning session of the campaign, titled "𝐒𝐞𝐜𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐁𝐞𝐲𝐨𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐎𝐟𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐞," on 18 June 2026 via Google Meet.

The Cybersecurity Awareness Campaign is a year-long initiative conducted every third week of February, April, June, August, October, and December. Each session features timely and relevant cybersecurity topics aimed at strengthening employees’ awareness and promoting the continuous protection of the Department’s information systems.

𝐓𝐔𝐑𝐍𝐎𝐕𝐄𝐑 𝐂𝐄𝐑𝐄𝐌𝐎𝐍𝐘 & 𝐄𝐗𝐄𝐂𝐔𝐓𝐈𝐕𝐄 𝐎𝐑𝐈𝐄𝐍𝐓𝐀𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍 - The Learning and Development Section (LDS) facilitated the Turnover Ceremony and Executive Orientation of the newly appointed Assistant Regional Director for Operations, Dir. Artemio E. Bautista, on 22 June 2026 at the DSWD Field Office VIII, Candahug Office, Palo, Leyte.

The Turnover Ceremony was led by the Regional Director, Dir. Grace Q. Subong, marking the formal assumption of office by Dir. Bautista. During the ceremony, the former Officer-in-Charge of the Office of the Assistant Regional Director for Operations, Ms. Leila E. Auditor, formally handed over the Office Symbol to Dir. Bautista, symbolizing the official transfer of leadership and responsibilities of the Office.

Following the Turnover Ceremony, an Executive Orientation was delivered by Assistant Regional Director for Administration, Dir. Clarito T. Logronio. The orientation provided an opportunity to orient Dir. Bautista on the Office's organizational priorities, strategic directions, and key operational concerns.

The activity was attended by the members of the DSWD Field Office VIII Executive Committee and Management Committee in support of the leadership transition.

𝐇𝐄𝐀𝐋𝐓𝐇 𝐌𝐀𝐈𝐍𝐓𝐄𝐍𝐀𝐍𝐂𝐄 𝐎𝐑𝐆𝐀𝐍𝐈𝐙𝐀𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍 (𝐇𝐌𝐎) 𝐎𝐑𝐈𝐄𝐍𝐓𝐀𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍 - The Learning and Development Section facilitated the conduct of the Health Maintenance Organization (HMO) Orientation in partnership with ValuCare Health Systems, Inc. on 4 June 2026 via Google Meet. The activity was attended by DSWD Field Office VIII personnel, particularly those covered under the HMO program.

Representatives from ValuCare Health Systems, Inc. discussed the comprehensive scope of the health coverage, utilization procedures, accredited clinics and hospitals within the region, and other premium benefits available to the DSWD Field Office VIII personnel.

Through this learning session, DSWD Field Office VIII personnel were equipped with the necessary information to better understand, access, and maximize their health care benefits and services.

𝐒𝐓𝐔𝐃𝐄𝐍𝐓 𝐓𝐑𝐀𝐈𝐍𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐏𝐑𝐎𝐆𝐑𝐀𝐌 - The DSWD Field Office VIII proudly recognizes the seventeen (17) student trainees from Eastern Visayas State University – Burauen Campus who successfully completed their 300-hour On-the-Job Training, which started on 24 March 2026 and concluded on 25 May 2026.

The 17 Student Trainees, who are taking up Bachelor of Science in Office Administration, were assigned to different sections and offices across the agency. Throughout their rendered training hours, they were immersed in different office operations, providing them with valuable learning experiences that will be beneficial in their future endeavors in their respective fields.

As part of the Student Training Program, the student trainees also shared their experiences and learnings during the Exit Conference with the Student Training Program Focal, Ms. Maevelyn O. Macato.

The Certificates of Completion were awarded to the student trainees by Regional Director Dir. Grace Q. Subong, Assistant Regional Director for Administration Dir. Clarito T. The 5 Student Trainees, who are taking up the Bachelor of Science in Economics, were assigned to various sections and offices across the agency. Throughout their rendered training hours, they were immersed in different office operations, providing them with valuable learning experiences that will be beneficial in their future endeavors in their respective fields.

To mark the completion of their internship, Ms. Maevelyn O. Macato, Student Training Program Focal, and Mr. Brian M. Requitillo, Section Head of the Learning and Development Section (LDS), represented DSWD Field Office VIII during the Internship Culminating Activity held at Eastern Visayas State University on 20 May 2026.

Following the culmination of their internship program, the student trainees were formally recognized and awarded Certificates of Completion by Regional Director Dir. Grace Q. Subong, Assistant Regional Director for Administration Dir. Clarito T. Logronio, and Chief of the Human Resources Management and Development Division Ms. Ann Ritzel C. Caragos during the Flag Raising Ceremony on 1 June 2026 at the DSWD Field Office VIII Grounds, Candahug Office, Palo, Leyte.

The 9 Student Trainees, who are taking up Bachelor of Public Administration, were assigned to different sections and offices across the agency. Throughout their rendered training hours, they were immersed in different office operations, providing them with valuable learning experiences that will be beneficial in their future endeavors in their respective fields.

As part of the Student Training Program, the student trainees also shared their experiences and learnings during the Exit Conference with the Student Training Program Focal, Ms. Maevelyn O. Macato.

The Certificates of Completion were awarded to the student trainees by OIC- Assistant Regional Director for Operations, Ms. Leila E. Auditor, and Officer-in-Charge of the Human Resource Welfare Section, Ms. April O. Cahayag during the Flag Raising Ceremony on 18 May 2026 at the DSWD Field Office VIII Grounds, Candahug Office, Palo, Leyte. The ceremony was also attended by Atty. Melvin Y. Maraya, Internship Coordinator of Burauen Community College.
