The Local Government Unit (LGU) of Palompon successfully underwent the 2026 Regional Local Governance Champions (RLGC) Assessment on August 27, 2026, at the 2nd Floor, NGCP Hall, Palompon Town Hall, Palompon, Leyte.

The assessment involved a comprehensive review of documents reviews covering all ten governance areas under the โ€œALL-INโ€ principle of the Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG), which serves as a basis for qualification for recognition. As part of the assessment, the team also conducted onsite inspections of selected LGU Facilities, including the LGU building, Evacuation Center, to assess compliance with Batas Pambansa Blg. 344 or the Accessibility Law. An inspection of the Engineered Sanitary Landfill (SLF) was likewise conducted as part of the assessment under the Environmental Management governance area.

Beyond the validation and defending the recognition conferred upon the LGU last year, the assessment reaffirmed the Palomponโ€™s steadfast commitment to the principles of transparency, accountability, responsive leadership, and effective public service deliveryโ€” and continuously striving to promote excellence in good governance.

Mayor Mary Dominique A. Oรฑate led the LGU, together with the Sangguniang Bayan Members (SBMs), LGU Department Heads and key personnel, partner National Government Agency (NGA), DepEd Officials, and Civil Society Organization (CSO) Representative.

The DILG RLGC Assessment Team was headed by Cluster 3 Head Mauricio T. Labado Jr., together with the rest of the RLGC Assessment Team.

DILG Palompon expressed its appreciation to all LGU officials and key personnel for their support and cooperation in the successful conduct of the assessment.

The 2026 RLGC serves as a premier regional recognition platform that recognizes LGUs that exemplify excellence in governance while sustaining the momentum and ideals of the national Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) program at the regional level.

Barangay Violence Against Women (BVAW) Desk Officers of Barangay Local Government Unit of Palompon actively participated a learning session entitled, PAGRIG-ON HAN MGA HARIGI (YEAR 3): STRENGTHENING OF BARANGAY-BASED INSTITUTIONS (BBIS)โ€ EPISODE 5: BARANGAY VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN (VAW) DESK OFFICERS initiated by DILG RO8 via Zoom on August 25, 2026.

Highlights of the activity includes the reorientation on the functions, roles and responsibilities of Brgy. VAW Desk Officers as part of capacity building, SGLGB minimum requirements, and among others.

On August 25, 2026, DILG Palompon, represented by LGOO II Argie D. Alcober, received a brand-new laptop from the DILG Regional Office 8, through the leadership of Regional Director Arnel M. Agabe, CESO III, during the turnover held at the DILG Regional Office 8 in Tacloban City.

The laptop was provided as additional technical assistance to support field operations and improve the delivery of public services. This assistance reflects the continuing support of the DILG Regional Office to its field officers in carrying out their duties effectively and efficiently.

With this support, the DILG Palompon Field Office will continue to uphold its commitment to promoting good governance and delivering excellent public service to the community.
