The evaluation of the VAWC Desk Office was successfully conducted today, April 30, 2026, in Barangay New Malaga. We would like to express our sincere gratitude to our dedicated evaluators from the various government agencies of Panabo Cityโ€”GAD Office, CSWDO, CHO, and DILGโ€”for their time, effort, and valuable insights.

Their thorough assessment and recommended strategies will greatly contribute to the more effective implementation and strengthening of the VAWC Desk Office, ensuring improved service delivery and protection for our community.

The VAWC Desk Officer who was evaluated is Hon. Maricel A. Munsay, as she currently serves as the VAWC Desk Officer for this year. The documents evaluated during the activity were from Calendar Year 2025.

We are proud to share that this yearโ€™s evaluation resulted in a score of 89.4 points.

Objectification doesnโ€™t just happen; it starts with the words we choose. When we reduce a woman to her looks with a โ€œcomplimentโ€ about her body, respect leaves the room. Letโ€™s be clear: her value isn't tied to your view. Sheโ€™s a person, not an object to be sexualized.

Kaya letโ€™s stop normalizing language that objectifies.
Letโ€™s start building spaces where women are seen as people first.

As part of the Womenโ€™s Month Celebration, Barangay New Malaga proudly funded and facilitated a livelihood program on ice cream making for the members of the Womenโ€™s Association and the New Malaga High Value Crops Association on April 6, 2026.

This initiative was made possible through the collaboration with PESOโ€“Panabo and the Provincial Office, aiming to empower women by providing sustainable livelihood skills and opportunities.

Together, we continue to support and uplift our community through meaningful programs that promote growth, independence, and resilience.

Ang Barangay New Malaga malipayon nga nagsaulog sa Womenโ€™s Monthโ€”usa ka pagpasidungog sa kusog, kaisog, ug kahayag sa kababayen-an sa atong komunidad.

Sa Barangay New Malaga, ang kababayen-an dili lamang giilaโ€”sila gi-empower ug girespeto.

Padayon, kusgan nga kababayen-an!

LOOK | Bawal Bastos Law: Your Right to Safe Spaces
Republic Act No. 11313, or the Safe Spaces Act, protects everyone from gender-based sexual harassment in public spaces, schools, workplaces, and even online.
Catcalling. Offensive remarks. Unwanted advances. Online harassment.
Bawal na. May batas na laban dito.
The law recognizes that everyone deserves to feel safe in streets, transport terminals, offices, campuses, and digital spaces.
Local Government Units play a crucial role in making this protection real in our communities. Under the law, LGUs are expected to:
โ€ข Pass local ordinances implementing the Safe Spaces Act
โ€ข Conduct information campaigns and anti-sexual harassment seminars
โ€ข Develop localized awareness materials
โ€ข Impose fines and penalties for harassment in public spaces
โ€ข Establish anti-sexual harassment hotlines
โ€ข Coordinate with the DILG in enforcing the law
โ€ข Provide training on gender-based sexual harassment down to the barangay level
โ€ข Set up Anti-Sexual Harassment (ASH) Desks in barangays, cities, and municipalities
โ€ข Establish systems for receiving and documenting complaints
A safer community starts with awareness, accountability, and respect.

Respeto sa kapwa. Ligtas na espasyo para sa lahat.
