From sea to table, experience the authentic flavors of Panganiban!

The Municipal Tourism Office of Panganiban proudly welcomed the validators of SIRAM Pagkaon Bikolnon: Flavorful Foods of Bicol for a meaningful journey that showcased the town’s rich coastal heritage and culinary traditions.

Held at the Floating Cottage, the activity offered immersive and hands-on experiences, including traditional crab catching and the harvesting of local seashells such as tuway and bagisara, giving participants a deeper appreciation of the community’s coastal way of life.

The validators, together with the team from the Department of Tourism Region V and the Catanduanes Provincial Tourism Office, also witnessed a live culinary demonstration featuring “Nilubihan na Kinis na Ikan Karbasa,” a local delicacy that reflects the unique flavors and traditions of Panganiban.

The Municipal Tourism Office of Panganiban extends its heartfelt gratitude to everyone who contributed their support, effort, and time in making this event a success. Special thanks to the Local Government Unit of Panganiban under the leadership of Mayor Cesar J. Robles and the Sangguniang Bayan led by Vice Mayor Arvin V. Atencia for their unwavering support and commitment to promoting the municipality’s tourism, culture, and local gastronomy.

May 28, 2026 | A meaningful evening of fellowship, reflection, and camaraderie marked the culmination of the four-day immersion for the 𝐒𝐈𝐑𝐀𝐌 𝐏𝐚𝐠𝐤𝐚𝐨𝐧 𝐁𝐢𝐤𝐨𝐥𝐧𝐨𝐧: 𝐅𝐥𝐚𝐯𝐨𝐫𝐟𝐮𝐥 𝐅𝐨𝐨𝐝𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐁𝐢𝐜𝐨𝐥 – 𝐂𝐚𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐮𝐚𝐧𝐞𝐬 𝐋𝐞𝐠 𝐋𝐨𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐡𝐨𝐥𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬’ 𝐀𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐕𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐓𝐫𝐢𝐩 during the Fellowship Night held at Rakdell Inn, Virac, Catanduanes.

The gathering was attended by Governor Patrick Alain T. Azanza represented by Mr. Remelito S. Cabrera, Officer-In-Charge of the Provincial Human Resource Management Office, Department of Tourism Regional Office V Regional Director Herbie B. Aguas, Provincial Tourism Officer Carmel Bonifacio-Garcia, Municipal Tourism Officers of Catanduanes, validators, gastronomy champions, media representatives, key opinion leaders, tourism stakeholders, and partners.

The evening served as an opportunity to share insights, experiences, and valuable feedback gathered throughout the immersion across the municipalities of Catanduanes, highlighting the province’s diverse culinary traditions, local flavors, community stories, and gastronomy tourism potential.

The Provincial Government of Catanduanes, under the leadership of Governor Patrick Alain T. Azanza, extends its sincere gratitude to the Department of Tourism Regional Office V for spearheading this meaningful initiative, as well as to the municipalities, tourism stakeholders, local communities, and partners whose active participation and support contributed to the successful conduct of the validation trip.

Through shared meals, conversations, and experiences, Catanduanes continues to strengthen its identity as an emerging gastronomy tourism destination in the Bicol Region.

On the third day of the assessment and validation trip, local validators composed of regional tour operators, key opinion leaders, renowned chefs, and media partners explored the municipalities of Viga, Panganiban, and Bagamanoc, immersing themselves in the province’s rich culinary heritage, local traditions, and unique tourism experiences.

📍 Viga Tourism: The day began with breakfast at Summit View Park, featuring locally harvested tabagwang and rice coffee. Validators also witnessed a food demonstration and presentation of traditional rice delicacies at Tojot Farm.

📍 LGU Panganiban Tourism: Participants experienced authentic local activities, including burbugat, sisi, and crab catching along the Cagayan River. Lunch was served at the floating restaurant near Banquerohan Bridge, complemented by a food demonstration and presentation of kinis.

📍 Bagamanoc Tourism: The group visited the scenic Ilihan Fertility Islet, where they enjoyed a food demonstration showcasing kuping, a beloved local delicacy.

Later in the afternoon, the validators were warmly welcomed by the Local Government Unit of Pandan at the Catanduanes Halfway Resort Hotel, marking the conclusion of another meaningful day of discovery and cultural appreciation.

As part of the municipality’s curated gastronomy experience, delegates participated in crab catching and discovered local seafood resources such as 𝐭𝐮𝐰𝐚𝐲 and 𝐛𝐚𝐠𝐢𝐬𝐚𝐫𝐚 seashells—highlighting the strong connection between community livelihood, coastal culture, and local cuisine. The immersion was complemented by a food presentation and cooking demonstration of 𝐍𝐢𝐥𝐮𝐛𝐢𝐡𝐚𝐧 𝐊𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐬 𝐧𝐚 𝐈𝐤𝐚𝐧 𝐊𝐚𝐫𝐛𝐚𝐬𝐚 (Mud Crabs in Coconut Milk with Squash) and 𝐓𝐮𝐰𝐚𝐲 𝐒𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐠, showcasing the rich and flavorful seafood heritage of the municipality.
