Planting trees can help us to save our Mother Earth. Trees give us oxygen that we breath and reduce heat effect through evaporating, cooling and reducing the amount of sunlight. Cutting trees can result in the loss of habitat for animal species which can harm our ecosystems. Cutting trees is one of the reasons why we experience landslides and air pollution.

So let us plant more trees and unite to protect our environment to make our world green again. ♻️🌍

Zoonosis is an infection or disease that is transmissible from animals to humans. According to the UN Environment Programme (UNEP), around 60 per cent of all infectious diseases in humans are zoonotic.

The last 100 years saw an increase in the incidence and spread of zoonotic diseases—i.e., Ebola, bird flu, SARS, and Zika virus to name a few. UNEP says that these are all linked to human activity:

"The drivers of zoonotic disease emergence are changes in the environment—usually the result of human activities, ranging from land use change to changing climate; changes in animals or human hosts; and changes in pathogens, which always evolve to exploit new hosts."

“Our continued erosion of wild spaces", according to UNEP Executive Director Inger Andersen. "has brought us uncomfortably close to animals and plants that harbour diseases that can jump to humans.”

To solve the current pandemic thus, we may have to find ways to restore the integrity of our ecosystems, primarily because these naturally help regulate diseases.

To do this, we have to rethink our ways of doing things and put a premium on nature-based solutions.
