𝐊𝐨𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐛𝐚, 𝐧𝐚𝐠𝐤𝐚𝐥𝐨𝐨𝐛 𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐬𝐡 𝐛𝐢𝐧𝐬 𝐬𝐚 𝐒𝐆𝐍𝐇𝐒 𝐘𝐄𝐒-𝐎 𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐚 𝐬𝐚 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭 𝐄𝐜𝐨-𝐁𝐢𝐧

Pormal na tinanggap ng Youth for Environment in Schools Organization (YES-O) ng Serapio Gawan National High School (SGNHS) noong nakaraang Agosto 31 ang mga basurahang ipinagkaloob ng Saint Williams Multi Purpose Cooperative (SWMPC).

Ang donasyong ito ay isinagawa bilang pagtugon sa inisyatiba ni Marilyn M. Panisoc, gurong tagapayo ng YES-O. Layunin ng proyekto, na binansagang "Project Eco-Bin: Enhancing Waste Management Through Classroom Procurement Project," na mas maitaguyod ang kalinisan at wastong pamamahala ng basura sa bawat silid-aralan.

Lubos naman ang pasasalamat ng pamunuan ng SGNHS YES-O sa SWMPC sa kanilang pagsuporta. Ayon sa organisasyon, malaki ang maitutulong ng mga bagong kagamitang ito upang mas mapalawak pa ang kamalayan ng mga mag-aaral sa pangangalaga sa kalikasan at kapaligiran ng paaralan.

Newly elected Teachers and Employees Officers (TEO) of Serapio Gawan National High School took their oath on August 25, 2026 in front of the students after the flag-raising ceremony.

The oath-taking marked the beginning of their duties as TEO officers. It also showed their commitment to serve and support their fellow teachers and employees of the school.

Jomar Magsilao took his oath as president and Jovell Machanum as vice president. Maria Editha Cofin took the position of secretary, Deborah Ganga as treasurer, and Aprilyn Pataray as the auditor.

Meanwhile, Precious Allutang and Maverick Navarra took their positions as business managers while Jonaica Tabbagon was elected as Public Information Officer (PIO).

The newly elected TEO officers are expected to work together in carrying out their duties and supporting the teachers and employees of SGNHS. Their leadership will help promote cooperation and unity within the school community.

𝐑𝐢𝐯𝐚𝐥𝐬 𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐭, 𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐢𝐧 𝐬𝐩𝐢𝐫𝐢𝐭: 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐦𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐥𝐬 𝐢𝐠𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐞 𝐬𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥 𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐝𝐞

Serapio Gawan National High School (SGNHS) athletes and coaches gathered altogether to celebrate Intramurals 2026 held from August 21-22. This two-day event was filled with excitement, competition, teamwork, and sportsmanship.

The event featured different sports, including wushu, taekwondo, chess, badminton, volleyball, athletics, and track and field, with the latter held at Paracelis Central School. Students enthusiastically competed and showcased their skills, strength, speed, discipline, and determination in every game. It was an opportunity for the SGNHSians to discover and showcase their talents, build confidence, and create memorable experiences with their fellow students and teachers.

The courts and playing areas were filled with cheers and excitement as players gave their best for their teams. Beyond the scores and results, one of the most meaningful part of the intramurals was the sportsmanship shown by the athletes . Players respected their opponents, followed the rules, accepted both victories and defeats, and encouraged one another throughout the games. Handshakes, congratulations, and words of encouragement showed that the true spirit of sports goes beyond winning.

School intramurals 2026 proved that while winning is something to celebrate, true victory can also be found in giving one's best, respecting others, and playing with a heart.

Public Schools District Supervisor (PSDS) Isaac G. Bayangan recently conducted a School Learning Action Cell (SLAC) session at Serapio Gawan National High School (NHS), focusing on effective reading intervention strategies for struggling readers.

Bayangan opened the session by emphasizing the importance of instructional delivery that is comprehensible to students, particularly those who experience difficulties in reading. He challenged the secondary teachers to be equipped with necessary teaching skills in order to help those considered as struggling readers.

One of the key strategies discussed was phonics instruction, in which learners are taught to read through letter sounds rather than letter names. Bayangan highlighted Marungko and Fuller approaches as useful guides in developing foundational reading skills.

He also stressed the importance of using local and contextualized examples in instruction to minimize confusion and make lessons more meaningful to learners. Alongside contextualization, he underscored the value of explicit teaching, particularly when introducing unfamiliar concepts and reading skills.

Another significant point raised during the session was the role of vocabulary enrichment and unlocking of difficult words in improving reading comprehension. According to Bayangan, helping learners understand unfamiliar words is essential in enabling them to grasp and make meaning from what they read.

Before concluding the session, he challenged the teachers to reflect on how they could further support struggling readers whose literacy skills may have deteriorated because of various factors. He encouraged them to look beyond conventional classroom practices and find responsive ways to help learners regain confidence and improve their reading abilities.

In response, School Principal Belinda C. Afiagan, together with the teachers of SGNHS, expressed their gratitude to Bayangan for the valuable insights and practical strategies he shared during the session.

Indeed, the SLAC proved to be a fun, engaging, and didactic learning experience, enriched by actual classroom scenarios that allowed teachers to connect the concepts discussed with real situations encountered in their classrooms.

In view of the continued heavy rainfall brought about by Tropical Storm Maymay and the Southwest Monsoon, and upon the recommendation of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC), work in government offices and classes at all levels in the National Capital Region and the provinces of Ilocos Sur, La Union, Benguet, Pangasinan, Abra, Zambales, Kalinga, Mountain Province, Ifugao, Ilocos Norte, Apayao, Nueva Vizcaya, Tarlac, Nueva Ecija, Bataan, Pampanga, Bulacan, Rizal, Cavite, Batangas, Laguna, and Occidental Mindoro are hereby suspended on 06 August 2026.

Agencies delivering essential and emergency services shall continue their operations. The suspension of work in private companies and offices is left to the discretion of their respective heads.

Serapio Gawan National High School (SGNHS) held a meaningful Padatong (Welcoming) and Palibbaton (Sending Off) program to warmly receive its newly hired teachers while honoring the invaluable service of one educator and a former department head embarking on new journeys.

The program began with the acknowledgment of the newly hired teachers by Master Teacher Meriam A. Ilacad, who warmly welcomed them to the SGNHS family. In response, the newly hired teachers Lyzel Mae S. Botal, Jolita F. Agudia and April E. Gonayon expressed their heartfelt gratitude for this God-given opportunity to become part of the institution. They shared their excitement about working with the students and collaborating with their newfound school family as they begin their teaching careers.

The ceremony also served as a heartfelt farewell for former TLE teacher, Meliza S. Pinatang and former Department Head Noreen F. Dangangao, who has been promoted to School Principal of Saliok National Technical Vocational and Skills Training High School, as they both embark on new chapters in their professional journeys. Colleagues took the opportunity to share personal messages of appreciation, encouragement, and well wishes, making the send-off both meaningful and emotional.

In her farewell message, Dangangao expressed her sincere gratitude for being part of the SGNHS family for the past five months. Filled with emotion, she encouraged everyone to "be a blessing and be a model" as her definition of leadership. She also inspired the teachers to continue embracing the challenge of nurturing every child and making a positive impact on their lives.

Meanwhile, Pinatang shared a message of hope and optimism, expressing her trust that God has a better plan for her as she begins a new chapter outside the school. She conveyed her appreciation to the SGNHS family for the support and experiences she gained during her time in the institution.

In her closing remarks, School Principal Belinda C. Afiagan challenged the newly hired teachers to continuously grow and strive for excellence as they begin their teaching journey. She also extended her heartfelt gratitude to Dangangao for her dedicated service and significant contributions to the school. Addressing Mrs. Pinatang, the principal encouraged her to continue trusting in God's plan for her future career.

The principal concluded the program by inspiring all teachers to remain committed to professional growth and career development, emphasizing the importance of being prepared for greater opportunities and responsibilities in the years ahead.
