The Negosyo-Center Pasacao of DTI Camarines Sur, in collaboration with the Municipal Agriculture's Office of LGU Pasacao, has successfully conducted its first official skills training on Flavored-Tinapa Making on March 24, 2026 in MAO (Fishing Port) San Cirilo, Pasacao, Camarines Sur.
The training emphasized the importance of product innovation as well as food safety, proper handling, and value-adding practices specifically in fish smoking to ensure product quality and marketability. Spicy and lemongrass flavored tinapa were the primary prototypes beside turmeric and pandan flavored tinapa. Such training also aims to support the town in identifying their official One-Town-One-Product (OTOP).
Ms. Edena A. Mortega, RFP of LGU Pasacao (Fisheries) generously shared her knowledge as the resource speaker for the skills training, equipped with her initiated ideas on flavored tinapa. Fifteen (15) MSMEs under food processing participated the skills training. Business counsellor of NC Pasacao, Michael Dominic D. Alarkon, also discussed topics on basic product labelling and product pricing. The training ended with the resource speaker's note of challenge to introduce flavored tinapa of Pasacao in different trade fairs soon.
