The Nueva Ecija University of Science and Technology (NEUST) participated in the EDCOM II–AACCUP Joint Event on “Strategic Alignment on the Role of SUCs and AACCUP in National Learning Recovery,” held on September 2, 2026, at the CHED Auditorium, Higher Education Development Center, Diliman, Quezon City.

The event brought together SUC leaders, quality assurance officials, research and extension directors, AACCUP officers, and the EDCOM II Technical Secretariat to discuss the role of higher education institutions in addressing learning gaps and supporting national learning recovery.

Representing NEUST were Dr. Rhodora Jugo, SUC President III; Dr. Analyn Gamit, Director for Quality Assurance Office; Dr. Marivic Villegas, Director for Extension Services Department; Dr. Angelo Santos, Director of the Curriculum Development and Evaluation Office; and Dr. Jo Neil Peria, Dean of the College of Education.

National government agencies and the Bangsamoro Government convened for a two-day Technical Preparatory Workshop ahead of the inaugural meeting of the Bangsamoro Education Coordination Forum (BECF), a newly established mechanism to strengthen coordination between national and Bangsamoro authorities on education policy, programs, and resources.

: Sinimulan ngayong umaga ang unang araw ng Technical Preparatory Workshop for the Inaugural Meeting of the Bangsamoro Education Coordination Forum (BECF), na isinasagawa kasama ng UNICEF Philippines. Top officials mula sa Bangsamoro Government, DepEd Philippines, Commission on Higher Education(CHED), at TESDA ang nakikiisa sa workshop, na layuning linawin ang priorities ng BECF.

Secretary Angara’s acknowledgment that “27 titles in a decade is your baseline” is refreshingly candid, but it should also infuriate citizens. How did we accept this for so long? How did three-year procurement cycles for single titles become standard operating procedure?

The EDCOM II findings exposed systemic bottlenecks that were obvious to anyone who cared to look—redundant review cycles, opaque evaluation processes, and a bureaucracy more concerned with procedure than outcomes. That these obstacles required a complete policy overhaul in 2025, rather than incremental fixes years ago, speaks to a failure of political will across multiple administrations.
